Nicholas knocked on Snyder's door sharply, his face cold as he smoked a cigarette. He hadn't heard from Snyder lately...and he wanted new kids.
The man better have some for him.

Snyder looked up. "Come in," he called to him before looking back down at piece of paper work he was working on. Some cover up for Smalls and Slick, so he wouldn't have to explain their coming in and leaving so soon.

Nicholas took a long drag on his cigarette, blowing the smoke in his face before pulling out a large wad of money. "Do tell me you have some children for me.." He smirked. "...or we might have some problems."

The Warden coughed a little getting a face full of smoke. "I have kids for you," he said waving the smoke from his face. "Two as a matter of fact," he said with a smile as he brought his hand towards the money Nicholas had produced.

Nicholas laughed and pulled the money back. "No no...greedy. I want to see them first. Then you get the money." He smirked. "...I'm in control here, Snyder. Never forget that."

"Right," the Warden said nodding slightly. "Well, then, come with me," he said as he stood and walked out of his office and towards the bunks where Slick and Smalls had been caught and placed not that long ago.

((New Day))\
Ever since this price Hike, Marlon had been seeing more and more, street rats littering his streets and he didn't like it. He liked it less then he liked beggers and cheats. Entering the Warden's office he figured it was time he and the other man had a heart to heart on the situation. Why wasn't he doing his job? Getting the kids off of the street and locked up proper.
Swinging his nightstick the man dropped it onto the desk, "Mr. Snyder.." His voice was a harsh line, strong and powerful but underlying was something devious that even his boys couldn't mach.

Meanwhile, Snyder was on the telephone, his back to the door. "Pick them up! I don't care what you have to do, just... get them!" he spun around and hung the phone up. He knew Delancy was there, that was the reason for the partial show. He had been talking to someone about just that situation, though it hadn't been in such a harsh manor until the Sargent showed up.
"Sargent, how nice to see you," he said with a slick smile. "Is there a reason for your visit on this... beautiful afternoon?" It was cloudy... and a good chance of rain.

Marlon inclined his head, smiling a smile that would have made an old woman focus on him until he smacked the desk hard with his nightstick. "We have a problem, Snyder-- and we both know what it is.." All those children, not enough of them in here and to many of them out there. His jaw locking as he let out a disgusted sound. "You want the money Snyder and I want my city, a mutual interest. Those kids are nothing but a waste of space and time.. now, how do we help each other?"

Snyder maintained his expression except for a long blink when the nightstick hit the desk. "Believe me," Snyder said in a nearly condescending voice... but even Snyder wasn't that stupid to talk down to a cop, it was more of a voice full of confidence, he saw no problem in resoling the issue, "I've been working hard on this. I was just speaking with an officer about such an issue when you graced me with your presence," he chuckled ever so slightly. "We can get this city clean yet Sargent, I'm sure of it. You know I might be able to lax the rules a little bit... speak to a few people around town to get things sorted out, and help you... do your job."

His smile was almost to friendly to be real, there was something deviously sick in the man's eye.
"Mr. Snyder, you and I have mutual interests. And I don't mind-- turning my eye to certain things. Just so long as things get done. We shouldn't be on opposite sides," he scoffed and the laugh he gave that should have been companionable sounded more like something dark from the edge of a Halloween nightmare. "We should be helping one another, you help me--- and I will help you."

If nothing else, this got Snyder's attention, even in a way that the night stick hadn't. "You tell me what you need done, and I'll do all I can to clear a path for you, Sargent. In the mean time, any assistance I can get from you well... I would be a fool to turn it down." A snake's smile slid across his features as he gazed up at his equal.

"I'm in line for police commissioner as soon as the current one retires, the announcement will be made within the next week." he turned and looked at the man he was considering a snake and someone to not be trusted but the enemy of your enemy is your friend.
"If you and I, together can clean up the streets of the filth can you imagine it?" his eyes sparkled with a glint that could have made the Virgin Mary cringe. He was a dangerous man, and a devious one. Hard to tell if there was any good in him at all.
"It's these-- newsboy leaders that are our current problem. If we collect these newsboys, their leaders will come for them.. they are wanting to strike and they will fail. We will help Mr. Pulitzer and Hurst.."

Snyder nodded. "Well if nothing else I think I could put in a good word for you," Snyder could next to get him the job, but he wasn't going to tell him that, too much information.
"Any and all children working for the benefit of the city and the entire population, would be far better than these dirty children running rampant on the streets now," he said as he leaned back in his chair, relaxing only a little. On all honesty, Snyder was a man who could be trusted when it knew he would benefit as well. Since these children being put in the refuge would benefit him, he'd do all he could to help the Sargent out.
"I already know the name of one. If you can get me the names of the others I'll do all I can to get them set as top targets," he said chuckling. "Jack Kelly, known as Cowboy around Manhattan, and known to a small few as Francis Sullivan. You'll have the best luck calling him Jack," he added. "Though you may have something. I've seen it before, these so called 'leaders' coming for their friends to rescue them as though it were heroic. We've increased security since then."
