Fighters smirk grew with every word Spot said. This was why she respected her leader, he told it how it was and put people like Maebe in their places when they stepped over the line. When Spot gave her a friendly shove she laughed and raised in eyebrow at Maebe with his final words. "He's right you know. You shouldn't mouth off to someone just because you feel like it."
Fighter didn't need to say anymore than that because Conlon had taken care of it on his own. She turned to pick up a poolstick and swipe the chalk over the top. "You breakin' or do I get the honor of doing it," She asked with a laugh.

"More important things like..." she feigned searching for an answer to that before continuing, "selling newspapers? Oh wow, yeah. What would Brooklyn DO without you, Spot?" Honestly, how could she 'fear' someone that was acting as childish as he was at the moment? He was being an absolute idiot; definitely below his normal rate of caliber. It had to be this cheeky dame he was trying to impress.
Maeby laughed a little at Spot's suggestion that his companion might teach her a thing or two. "Oh, I'll be sure to look her up once she retrieves her nose from your ass, Conny. I thought you were a man who kept company with more impressive types--like Cowboy does--but turns out you're just a boy who entertains his whores with cheap drinks and games." She lifted her glass to them in a mock toast gesture, "Cheers."
Downing her drink, she clanked it on the table and pushed by Fighter. "Have fun working your city-block tonight, love." She winked, then let herself out.

Fighter smirked when Maeby kept going, thinking she was making herself look important by saying things that were meant to be harsh but honestly came off as asinine. When Maeby shoved past her, Fighter had no problem jamming her elbow into Maeby's side as she walked past. "Have a good night, you stupid bint."
Fighter just shook her head and glanced at Conlon when Maeby had left. "You know it's girls like that, that make people think all females are daft and ignorant."

Spot just watched and listen to Maeby amusedly, before turning back to Fighter. "Eh, simple minds, simple pleasures." He smirked. "Idiots like dat get their asses kicked sooner or later..." He nodded, gesturing that it was her shot. "But Is aint gonna give her the idea she's important by doin' it meself."

Fighter leaned over the pool table taking her shot and breaking the balls, one of the striped balls landed in the corner pocket. "I'd like a shot at the girl, that's for damn sure." Making another shot, Fight shook her head when it missed and nodded towards Conlon to show it was his turn. "I'm gonna assume t'at if I see her in a spot where I can take the chance I'm free to do that." That was Fighters round-a-bout way of making sure Conlon wasn't opposed to her starting a fight with the girl, if she wasn't in the position of being caught by the pigs.

Spot shrugged, shooting, pocketing three solid balls, and then scratched. "Do whatcha want, Fighta...but wait til she provokes ya...we got bigga fish to fry currently. We's gotta try and pay the bills first." That was always the most important thing.

Fighter nodded, her mood instantly deflated as he spoke of the increasing prices. "Your right, I may not be hurting today but give it a couple more days and I won't be left with a penny to my name." She may be working at the pub but it wasn't bringing in much money because she barely worked there after the incident. They only brought her in when they were desperate.
Fighter took her shot and made another before missing her next shot. "It just seems like people like her are coming out in droves, they ride me last nerve most of the time." It takes a lot for her to hold back from decking them when they first open their mouths, but she's grown up a lot from the point in time when she would actually do that. Fighter had also heard talk from a couple of Queens friends of heards that someone she had thought had moved to Philadelphia was apparantly starting to make some noise back in Brooklyn, and at Five Points in Manhattan. She wasn't looking forward to that trouble either. "Not to jump to the point, but what are you planning on doing?" About the increase, she assumed a strike, but she was definately worried about the way it would affect the younger ones.

"Strike." Spot shrugged, taking another shot. "...I aint see another way out of it, but strikin'. They's probably not thinkin' we'd do it again...Is thinks it could work...or I could just throw a bit of heat into them.." He paused. "But we's got to get all the leadahs together."

Fighter watched Spot shoot, silent for a moment. "Yeah t'at really is the best option in t'is situation. What else can we do, really? They just don't t'ink 'bout us when they do shit like t'is. What about the lil' ones? We could find jobs a lot easier than they could. It's almost like those bastards want to see them workin' in factory gettin' the bad lung." Fighter shook her head, utterly disgusted with the men that ran the papers. She also on edge more now than ever, the rise in the papes and hearing about the return of her ex. She didn't want to deal with it but she was going to have to eventually and she wasn't looking forward to it.

"Oi...yous' actin like the worlds endin, Fightah..what else gotcha so wound up?" He was actually asking....asking about a person? What the hell had come over him. This whole Smalls thing, that was the only answer he could give himself. Damn. "Is gotta think about all dis...its gonna be fine. Brooklyn takes care of itself.." He chuckled. "But what about Queens? Does broads ain't got any sense in der heads..."

Fighter laughed before responding, "Yeah your right, I've learned to realize that." Fighter had thought about skipping over his first question, but figured some sort of answer would be better than none considering she didn't figure Spot Conlon asked many of his newsies what else was bothering them. "Ah, I've just had a few t'ings on my mind lately that built up with the price hike. I know it won't be easy but it'll be easier for us than most. We support each other."
The only reason she wasn't coming out and asking Conlon for his advice was because she knew what she had to do and she didn't want to put more stress on him than there already was. She just needed to lay low for awhile and hope that her ex coming back into the picture had nothing to do with her. Most things hadn't had much to do with her while they were dating and she didn't figure that changed already. Fighter knew she was getting herself worked up over nothing but with so many things on the edge with her it just seemed like it was one thing after another.

Spot nodded, smirking. "Aye we do, don't we?" He chuckled. "We could always break off. Damn Brooklyn used tah be its own city--if it was still, we wouldn't be havin' dis problem." He snorted. "Damn people runnin dis place. If I was in charge.." He laughed, shaking his head. "Well we'd be way better off, wouldn't we?"

"If you were in charge Brooklyn would be it's own island and we'd have more people strung up by their toes on the docks.." Lucky was down to her last smoke and so she'd gone to get booze. She ran her hand threw her hair she'd finally gotten another hat, something about the fact she was growing out of being a kid had her very nervous. She dropped onto a chair and nodded at Fighter with a grin though she looked tense. "Talkin' about the price hike?" She had been thinking about other things as of late. The Guild-- and growing up were there.

Fighter smirked when Spot started talking about Brooklyn breaking off from New York City and him being in charge. God she could only imagine what would happen to the ones who fell to his wrath, they certainly wouldn't just pushed off towards Queens like they usually were. "That would be a sight to see." And that was putting it mildly.
When Lucky walked up, Fighter gave her a nod and took a shot when it was her turn before drinking her beer. "Yeah, talkin' bout how if Conlon was running the city we wouldn't have to fear." She smiled widely to show she was joking around.

Spot nodded at Lucky, shifting his weight slightly. They still weren't on the best of terms. He had forgiven her, but he hadn't forgotten. He wasn't one to forget those things. "Aye, price hike...gotta see what them other leaders gots to say about this whole thing." He pulled off his hat, running a hand through his hair, smirking. "And yous all act like I'd be a dictator. I'd be benevolent...am I not now?" He laughed.
