((ooc: just so you know..Nicholis is almost 30.))
Nicholas looked down at the young girl. She was a child, really...not very useful to most. Taking a drag off his cigarette, he blew the smoke off to the side, taking his time before he spoke. "Well there are quite a few little girls who have walked by with dark brown hair. That isn't much of a description." He smiled, deceptively sweet. "...Can you describe her any better? I would like to help you..."

((Sorry, I fixed it))
"well" she said, hesitantly, a bit wary of the man's overly sweet demeanor, most men were a bit more blunt or dismissive of little girls like her " she's about eight years old and this high" she described, holding her hand up to her chin "Her hair is usually in a braid and she woulda bought some papers. She has a really big, sandy colored dog named Marvin but ya might not have seen him, sometimes grownups can't"

Nicholas listened to her intently, then shook his head. "No, I haven't seen her, miss.." He smiled again. "What's your name?" He put out his hand gently, switching the cigarrette into his mouth. "Mine's Nicholas." She could be a good pickpocket, actually. She was sweet and innocent.

"Rhoda" She said, still somewhat hesitant to accept that his apparent friendliness was genuine. Despite her reservations about the man, she remembered her manners and shook his hand "pleased to meet you" she said politely, looking around once again to see if Gwennie had arrived. Still unable to spot her, she sat down on the edge of the fountain next to the man to wait for her friend. "So what're you doing here?" she asked conversationally "From what I hear, there's usually not a lot of grown men that hang around near Distribution center, especially not this early in the morning. Don't you have a job to get to?"

Nicholas chuckled. "Ahh...see I run a big business. It lets me go out and mill about whenever I want. It's very nice. And it is such a nice day today, I thought I should come spend some time near the fountain. I also sometimes find new hires around here. People who are good souled enough to work for me."

"Yeah it is a pretty nice day" agreed Rhoda conversationally "So, what kinda buisiness do ya run?" she couldn't think of any businesses that allowed their bosses to work wherever they wanted, and it sure didn't look like he was working at all. He was just sitting there.

"Fun and games." Nicholas chuckled, shrugging. "Pool rooms, poker rooms. Just places for newsies to hang out and have fun after a long day selling." He shrugged. "How about I help you try and find your friend?"

"Okay" she said, accepting his explanation at last "How long ago did you get here ? 'cause if it wasn't that long ago she's probably already been here and gone. She gets here pretty early. " she offered, hoping that they could find her. She didn't get much time off and when she did she was always eager to make the best of it and that included spending time with her best friend.

Nicholas grinned. "I've been here for about an hour...its a very nice day, and I thougth I should spend it outside, you know?" He stood up smoothing out his outfit, tossing the cigarette into the water. "Well, shall we go?" He offered her his arm.

Rhoda turned the information over in her mind 'an hour ago...well she might have come earlier than usual' she thought, going over what she knew of Gwennie's patterns 'Either that or she's late and she's still at the lodging house. Well, I guess we oughta try there first' She looked up at Nicholas as he stood up, offered her his arm and suggested that they get started with their search, "sure" she replied, grabbing onto his arm and sliding down from the edge of the fountain "We should check the Brooklyn lodging house first, just in case she hasn't gotten to the distribution center yet. I know the route that she takes."
