Prince rolled her eyes and stepped away. "Pardon me ya highness," she said annoyed with the boy's superiority complex... or that's what it seemed to be to her. If nothing else he was a bit rude.
She turned away from him completely and went back to the books she was examining, focusing on them instead of the man she'd just spoken with.

She looked over her shoulder at him. "Prince," she said putting her book back on the shelf. "Friends call me Prince," she said correcting herself. "You from around these parts?" she asked meaning Brooklyn, not the library. She didn't recognize him as a newsie, then again she didn't know many Brooklyn Newsies. But she did know if he was from Brooklyn she may want to watch her insults from now on.

He wasn't a newsie then, that was alright. "Naw," she said shaking her head. "I'm from Queens, newsie from Queens," she informed him. "So, how was that book that you was gonna read b'fore I decided ta tell ya how ta do it correctly, and didn't do all that well at all?" she, still appearing to be a he, asked with a smirk.

She'd been hoping to avoid the, 'what brings you to Brooklyn?' question, but she answered it anyway, and it was honest. "Naw, this is just da best library in da city," she said as she put the book back on the shelf. "When I do the little readin' I do, I like ta find the books I'm lookin' for, and this is the best place ta find it," she stated as though it were common sense, but she wasn't condescending, which was definitely an odd tone indeed. "How about yaself? Lookin' for a scary story ta read b'fore bed?" She couldn't help but chuckle a little.

Prince smiled a little. "You gotta a favorite book or... writtah or somethin', or do ya just read what looks good at first glance?" she asked. An old friend of hers had turned her into a Dickens fan, but beyond that Prince didn't know many authors. And as far as her favorite books were concerned, well she couldn't think of any right off.

She nodded. "I suppose that's a good thing," she said chuckling again slightly. He seemed to be the strong silent type, not really much for conversation. Maybe she had ought to just top bothering him. Then again, why stop when you're ahead? "Havin' any luck?" she asked casually as she leafed through a book herself.

Prince shrugged. "Ain't got nothin' better ta do," she said with a shrug. She wondered down the row a little farther. "I'll letcha know if I find anything good, how does that sound?" she asked with a smile as she turned the corner. She figured that she had been here a while, and had done nothing but talked to him, maybe she had ought to be looking for a book like she had intended... and allow him to do the same. She wondered around just the same.
