Maggie smiled and hugged him gently. "...you can borrow some of my dad's clothing...mom will wash these for you." She disappeared for a moment, and when she came back she was wiping wet hands off on her skirt. "I have the bath running...there are a few clean towels in their...I have the water lukewarm." She ran a hand over his cheek. "..take as long as you want in there...whatever makes you feel better."

Brigmal felt her hug, and closed his eyes. He didn't want it to end, he felt wonderful when she hugged him. She then spoke an walked off. Brigmal continued sitting, waited for her, coughing a few more times into the towel. He looked back to her as she spoke, and smiled; he meant it, but it was still a little forced. Using the chair for support, he slowly stood up. A just standing a few seconds to get his balance, he started walking towards her. He was able to keep a good rythem as he walked, but it was obvious to see that it was slower and more forced than normal. "Thank you." He said, as he walked into the room.
He closed the door behind him and slowly shed his clothing. Dipping into the bath, it felt warm against his skin. He sat there, rubbing water all over him. After running water through his hair, he found the most relaxed position and held it for a little, just trying to keep his body loose so he could walk around easier.

Maggie sighed watching him disappear into the bathroom. Guy was trying to be strong...but she could see through it. He'd make it through, she was sure. He had to.
She fixed herself a cup of tea, sipping on it slowly, talking with her mother about various things that could be done to help him. They weren't going to let him out on his own, that was for sure. Maggie wanted to give up her bed since there was a window right next to it, but she wasn't sure Brigmal would accept it--but she'd try.

After about a half hour he finally got out. Slowly he rose from the bath and grabbed a towel before stepping out. He dried himself off and found the clothes for him to put on. He changed slowly, but steadily, and stretched a bit before coming out. He looked at Maggie and smiled, "Hey." He said to the mother and daughter. He had gotten a new towel, as well, leaving the other bloody one with his clothes, which he just coughed into.

Maggie smiled at Brigmal, her mother did as well. He looked a little better after the bath--not as pale. Standing she put her tea down on the table.
"Brian...please don't say no, but I want you to stay in my bed...it has a window right next to it..its what you need to get better." She gestured to the couch. "This is fine for un-sick me." She really hoped he wouldn't say no. She turned to her mother, who nodded in agreement.

Brigmal was about to say no the moment she asked him not to. He figured she'd only say that if she was going to say something he probably wouldn't agree with. When he listened to what she had to say, it was true, he wanted to say no. The thought lingered for he felt bad for her spending her time helping him, but he also wanted to get better. He opened his mouth to say no, but nodded, "Ok." He finally said. He wasn't going to say yes it's a good idea, but was going to accept the offer.

Maggie smiled softly. "...Thanks..."
Mrs. Gaspacio nodded. "Why don't you take him up to the roof for a bit while I get the bed ready, Mags, dear." She pat Brigmal's shoulder lightly before disappearing into one of the rooms.
Maggie walked over to Brigmal and hugged him gently. "..I know you don't want to, Brian...if it makes you feel better you can make it up to me when you're better."

Brigmal nodded to Maggie and leaned against the wall as he stood. As Mrs. Gaspacio walked out he forced a smile, "Ok, I will." He promised her, happy to have him mind on getting better, and not getting worse. "I promise." He walked closer to her, and smiled, waiting for her to start walking so he could follow her.

Maggie smiled and took his hand in hers, leading him up onto their small roof, stopping occasionally as to not wear him out. Once they got up there, they had a relatively pretty view of Queens and a nice sunset. It wasn't much, but they made do. A few vegtable plants were near by, and flowers hung from a few pots along the edge. There were a couple chairs up there as well. Gesturing to one of them, she sat down in the other, looking out on the city.
"Even though I do complain about missing the west....sometimes this city surprises me. It can be beautiful."

Brigmal followed her as she took his hand. He struggled up after a few steps, and was glad that she stopped a few times for him. When they reached the top, he walked straight to the chair and sat down. "I don't think I've ever done anything that hard." He said though a raspy voice, trying to make light of the situation. He coughed a bit into the towel; happy he remembered to bring it. "It is quite beautiful." He told her. "It's times like these that keep from from just running out of the city." He smiled as he looked at the sunset, wishing to just take Maggie into his arms and kiss her gently. 'That's how I'll pay her back later, for her bed.' He told himself.

Maggie looked over at him, grinning. "...I know it was hard, Brian...but I'm not strong enough to carry you up the stairs--even in one of them firefighter holds." She had seen some fire fighters save some people by throwing them over their shoulders when the building next to theirs in San Fransisco had caught fire a few years back.
She knew it was hard for him, but she was glad he had the constitution to take it in stride. The more he did that, the sooner he would get better--and that would make them all happy. "...Yeah...too bad we can't get you out west...freshest air there is...have to make do here. My little piece of heaven away from the grime of those streets below." She was at peace. Even with Brigmal sick, there was some peace to be had. She was thankful for the small things.

Brigmal looked around the city, "I'm sure this'll do." He continued to look at the people walking around. "I wonder how the others are?" He asked himself, thinking of Flanna and Prince. They had been nice to him, and he wanted to know how they were doing; if they had gotten sick. Brigmal sighed and looked to Maggie, "It is a beautiful piece of heaven." He stopped thinking about Flanna as he focused on Maggie.

Maggie raised an eyebrow. "Who are?" She still knew very few people here. Just some of the girls at the mill. At his comment she blushed a bit and nodded towards the sunset. "...your telling me that as if I'm the piece of heaven..." She teased gently.

Brigmal cocked his head and thought for a moment, "I'm Brian James of New York." He told her, as if it were a common fact. He smiled at her comment, and shrugged, "Well, you can't possible have any piece of heaven, no matter how small, without an angel." He said, slowly. He coughed a few times, and took in a deep breath of the crisp air.

Maggie blushed biting her lip. "...I'm far from an angel..maybe an iron jawed angel..don't have the looks to match it. Now you, maybe..." She fiddled with the hem of her skirt a bit, her hazel eyes flashing softly in the light. "You feeling any worse?" She was trying to get the attention off herself. As secure as she looked, she wasn't always so inside.
