Maggie walked into the Deli. She had eaten here a couple times during her small lunch break with her mother--figured it would be good with Brigmal. She turned to him, smiling softly. "Is this okay?" She ususally wasn't nevous, but with him she was a bit.

Brigmal smiled, "Perfect enough." He opened the door, and motioned for her to go inside. "After you." He said with a large grin. He was having a great time, the best he had had in a while.

Maggie blushed and smirked. "Thanks...I ain't used ta bein' treated like some kinda lady. Men in Cali seem ta have forgotten how ta open doors..." She ran a hand through her chestnut curls, trying to get them under control.
"This place has real good food...cheap too." She slipped into a booth. She watched Brigmal with a soft absentminded smile.

Brigmal followed her as she entered. "Well, then you must be happy you came here." He said to her. In his head he added, 'I am'. Sitting in the booth beside her, he reached into his pocket. He was a little annoyed with himself for not starting to sell papes, because he didn't have enough money to pay for both her and him. He would have liked to, but he really only had enough for this meal, and a breakfast tomorrow. He looked at the Menu and thought for a moment, "I can't decied, what're you getting?" He asked with a grin.

"Yeah I am actually...glad I finally met someone nice." Maggie smiled and rummaged into her leather pocket, smiling. "...good." She said to herself. She had enough money for herself and some left to give to her mom and grandfather. "...I think I'm gonna get a soup and sandwich..since its chilly and all." She pouted a bit. "I've got to go buy a coat soon--I wasn't sure how cold it was going ta be here. I'm used ta lots o sun and little chill at all. " She chuckled good naturedly. "I'd wear long sleeves, but sleeves can make me lose an arm in the mills. " It was bad work, but at least it had an element of danger. She needed some in a life she thought was borning here in New York.
She looked at Brigmal. But maybe she had found a spark.

Brigmal smiled, "Well, it's good to be happy." He looked back to the menu, "That sounds good, I'll just get what you get." He told her. He listened to her, "Well, wouldn't want to loose an arm, now would you?" He stretched a bit before sitting back down. "It can get pretty cold here, this isn't the worst, it's bound to come soon though."

Maggie smirked. "Nah...I think losing an arm could just right ruin my day!" She laughed softly and watched him. "...how cold does it get then, Brigmal?" She bit her lip. "...I have a feeling I might hate the winter...you always lived here?"

Brigmal nodded, "Aye, been here all my life... not dead center of the city, but always somewhere around it." He tried to think about how cold it got, "Well, for one thing; when you walk around, you see people with 3 or 4 layers of sweaters and jackets... People run around bundled up, hands in pockets, faces barley seen under scarves..." A cynical smile stretched across his face, "One good thing does come out of it, though... people are so quick during winter, to get out of the cold, they buy papes so fast, you could be standing still, and they'd still be on the other side of city before they found out you were scamming them."

Maggie laughed. "...yeah I guess that would help." She made a face. "I do hate wearing a ton of clothin' tho...I might be right miserable!" She smiled and paused as their food came, tasting the soup before looking up at him. "I'm right glad I ran into you, Brigmal. Not often a gal like me runs into a nice guy like you."

Brigmal smiled, "Well, I'm sure you'll look fine with a lot of clothing." He looked down to his food, and smiled; glad to have this in front of him. Looking back up he spoke, "Well, I'm glad I can be that kinda guy; better to be the nice guy than to be the one in prison..." His voice trailed off as he thought about Flanna... it wouldn't work... only situation where he might actually rather be the guy in the prison. "Well," He said, bringing himself back, "Nice to meet a nice girl like you." He turned and took a bite of his sandwitch. 'Damn eyes', he said to himself, knowing they give out every emotion that strikes through his mind.
(Sorry... forgot to log in as Brigmal...)

(lol its okay!!))
Maggie raised an eyebrow, knowing that look. "...It is better to be the nice guy dan the one in prison--they always win in da long run--even if it isn't exatly the thing they wanted to win." She looked down at her soup, stirring it a bit, suddenly silent, which was strange after being so talkative for so long. She was lost in thought, remembering something that happened not too long ago.
She shook her head eventually, her dark curls bouncing about her freckled face. "Oh gee wiz. I right checked out then..sorry about dat." She reached out and tapped his hat. "And dunna you think about any silly gal that dont see what a grand guy you are." She smirked, taking a bite of her sandwich. "Out west gals would be clammerin' for ya." There was something in her eyes then, that matched a bit of his own. She hid more than she would ever tell.

Brigmal looked away, a little embarassed to be talked about like this. "Well, thanks." He took a sip of his soup, but saw Maggie in the corner to his eye. He slowly turned towards her, as she stared at her soup. When she shook her head and spoke, he sat a little confused. "Oh, well, glad you're back." He said, not wanting to make it an issue. "Clammerin'? That's a new one for me." He said, staring in to her eyes, wanting her to know that he knew something was going on in there.

Maggie shrugged. "Clammerin' means like...every body fightin' for ya attention." She smiled embarassedly. "Sorry...I forgit that I ain't in the West--usin' words no one uses here." It was strange. She was never known to apologize to anyone--but she wanted Brigmal to like her for some reason.
She knew he could see what was in her eyes--she just didn't right know what to do about it. She wasn't used to spillin' her guts to anyone, especially in a semi public place.

Brgimal shook his head slightly and laughed a bit, "Ah, no need to be sorry... I'm sure it takes just about everyone to get used to being in a new place." He told her. He looked around a bit, just a New York habit to know what and, especially, who's around. Looking back he smiled, "Well, now that I know the meaning of Clammerin', it sounds like a good idea for me to head out west, get me a few girls." He gave a deep, but light, chuckle as he joked.
