"If its important enough I'll hear it on da street..." He snorted at her and leaned up against the statue next to her. She could read him, despite his cynical attitude, and that he could not stand. "Sure I love gettin' up before da sun, eatin' when I can afford it, bein' terrorized by Snyder an ' all his crooks, gettin' sunburnt, an' most of all puttin' on a happy lil' act for all the snobs in dis city who can actually afford a damn pape.." In Skittery fashion he pointed out all the negatives of the job, which in some backward way showed his enjoyment of it. He threw his papers on the ground and sat on top of them.

"Oh Skitts..." she said sighing, she slumped down the statue beside him. "You're forgettin' the nice people ya getta meet, da people dat give ya more den a lousy pape is woith, not to mention da wonderful leadahs," she said with a smug smile. "And those things just make bein' a newsie even woise," she said chuckling. She was teasing him, and definatly enjoying it.

Skittery looked at her unamused. "Are ya always this optimistic? Yer startin' ta sound like Crutchy and it irritates me.." Like some of his friends, he just wasn't able to see the pot of gold waiting at the end of a rainbow - especially when it was sleeting. He flipped his hat off and pulled at his unruly hair.

"No..." she said shaking her head with a smart smirk on her face. "I just felt like annoyin' ya. Tell me, how'm I doin'?" she asked turning towards him. "Would you rathah I be more like you and not see da light at da end of any tunnel and mope all da time? I could arrange it," she said winking at him.

"Grand, jus' grand.." He said peering at her through the corner of his eye. "An' I don't mope!" He got defensive despite her wink. He never wanted to accept the fact that people noticed his frequent change in moods so when they were pointed out he got irritable and somewhat embarrassed. "I am jus'...realistic." He tensed his lips knowing he sounded stupid and looked away again. "Shut up.."he added quietly.

Prince chuckled a little. "I'm sorry," she said leaning back. "Ya don't mope... " she said nodding. She relaxed against the statue. "One question though, with all these papes, do ya intend on sellin' 'em, or ya just gonna sit here and talk to me?" she asked raising her eyebrows at him.

Skittery stopped messing with his hair and looked down to where he could see the papers poking out from beneath his rear. He let out a huff of a laugh and shook his head. "Ya know, talkin' ta you made me forget I even had 'em..." He pulled one out from under his butt and threw it in her lap, "Complimentary issue. Ya get to see the competition I got one less ta sell." He smiled at her then laughed, "Its even 'hot' off da presses" He said referring to the body heat that had been transfered to it. He was so cleaver.

Prince chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Keep ya day job, kid," she said as she picked up the paper and thumbed through it. "Pitty, there's some good headlines in here," she said. "Look at this, 'Jocky fell off horse. Trampled to Death.' Heck dat headline practically sells itself!" she excalimed. It was almost too easy. "Ya oughta try sellin', you'd make quite a bit at dis rate," she said as she folded the paper back up. She was still keeping this one.

Skittery flipped his dirty hat back on his head. She was right, chalk full of potential sell points. "The way I look at it is the easier the sellin' is the more time I can waste relaxin' with my friend Horance.." The statue was his perch half the time, a place for him to daydream and people watch before getting to work. He stood and hoisted the stack onto his shoulder and let out a heavy sigh. Frowning he said, "I know when I ain't wanted..."

"Aww come on Skitts, I wantcha here, just wondered why you wasn't out sellin'. Bs'dies, if we kept up at dis rate, you won't start sellin' until midnight," she said chuckling. "Come on, dun be like dat," she said. "But... if ya want I'll leave ya alone, so youse can go sell."

He let out a stiff laugh and smiled. "Well ain't you jus' da sweetest Princey" he mocked. The day was burning away and if he didn't get on it the evening edition would be making his product obsolete. "I bettah make a few cents so I can buy tomorrow an' repeat dis torture.." He gave her a genuine smile really for the first time since she came stumbling into his turf.

She'd accept that, only because she got the smile out of him. "Fair is fair... maybe I'll see ya latah then," she said with a smile. "Bye Skitts, and good luck!" she called laughing as she waved to him and headed back for home as quick as possible, before she saw her persuer again.

"Don't be trippin' now!" He called as he walked backwards into the street, "Whatevers aftah ya might jus' catch up then.." His warning was serious though he smiled and and held up his staff in place of a wave afterwards. Skittery twisted his body around and immediatly started to call out the headline about the jockey.

((New Day))
Digger lifted Rabbit up onto the statue and grinned at her, he couldnt' think of much more. The little thing never said much, though when she did talk, it seemed it was only to him.
He flipped out his note pad and looked back at Rabbit, "What do you say, red?" He winked at her as he began sorting his notes, he'd have an interview with Nicholas soon. Though, Digger was a fan of a very old saying. Report the news, never be part of it. The Racontuers was a scoop.
"Do we have to see the scary man, big brother..."
The sound had Digger turning to look at her once more, he sighed. First he had to find someone to watch Rabbit. He'd never put her in a situation like that. "No, Rabbit, you don't have to go see the scary man.. I'll go alone. Just gotta find someone in this city to look after you for a bit is all.." he smiled brightly at her. The dark haired little girl gave him a soft smile, poor thing. He wasn't really her brother but, he was all she had.

Prince had said she'd be back sooner or later, and she was in the neighborhood after visiting Jack, so she thought she'd drop by. But, when she arrived she didn't see Skittery, but did see a man and a small girl. She walked over to them cautiously, wondering if they knew where Skittery was.
