Digger was watching Rabbit, not really noticing the girl walking up to them. But Rabbit saw her. After a long moment of watching Prince, Rabbit decided that Digger needed to pay attention. She tapped him on the nose and pointed at the other girl, her calming brown eyes never leaving the other.
Digger finally looked over his shoulder and saw Prince, he studied her quickly, like any reporter would and turned to face her fully.
"Can, I help you, miss?" No matter if they looked like street kids, Digger figured everyone was human and deserved the same respect as others. Personally, he figured the newsies got a raw deal, from everyone.

She shrugged a little. "Just lookin' for someone... guess he ain't heah," she said with a smile to the guy as she started looking around the statue. Maybe Skittery was hiding, then again maybe not. Either way, it was worth the look. She smiled at the girl and waved to her. Prince didn't really notice that she was acting, sounding and even apparently appearing like a girl, even though she was in Manhattan, she'd have to fix that... but like I said, she hadn't noticed it yet.

Rabbit crawled onto Digger's back to get a better look at Prince, she smiled a bit and bounced. She was a girl who pretended to be a boy! That's where Rabbit's little seven year old mind went. And she silently wished that Digger would let her wear boys clothes more.
Digger grunted as Rabbit crawled onto him and watched Prince idolly. "Well, there's no one here but me, and this little mite. Rabbit, you're getting to big for that.."
"You should get bigger then.." the little girl responded, watching Prince silently before she smiled again. "Mr. Lady?"

Prince stopped looking and looked at the two. They were cute. She wondered if they were related, or... maybe the girl was an adopted orphan. Then again, they were probably some Rich brother and sister whom she had no business talking to... more likely than not. But the name Mr. Lady caught her off gaurd. She had been acting like a girl this whole time. She looked around quickly, no one around... good. She smiled at the girl, since there seemed to be no danger she said, "Yeah?" she asked the young girl, putting her hands on her hips.

Rabbit dropped off of Digger's back and walked over to Prince, her eyes were soft and friendly. "I like you're hat, my Papa had a hat like that.."
Digger sighed and walked up slowly, dropping his hand on Rabbit's head. "Sorry about this, Rabbit doesn't normally talk to anyone, but me really." He gave the other girl a smile an dheld out his hand. "Douglas Pierce, freelance reporter, some call me Digger. This, here, is Rabbit."
Rabbit grinned, "I'm seven and three weeks old.."
"And a pain in the rear," Digger said playfully, ruffling the girl's hair.

Prince laughed right out. "Name's Prince, or dat's what most people call me," she said taking the man's hand and shaking it. She then looked down at the little girl. "Seven and three weeks! Wow... ya old..." she said with a smirk to the child. She wondered who that daddy was she'd been talking about. Had they been anywhere else Prince might have even taken her hat off and let the girl wear it, but not out in the open, and especially not in Manhattan.

Digger smiled and shook her heand. "Nice to meet you, Prince.."
"I AM old!" Rabbit insisted, instantly brighening, "But Big Brother doesn't think so. He's always telling me I'm to little.."
"You are to little Rabbit.." Digger said rolling his eyes, he glanced at his watch and sighed. "Shoot, that interview.. I'm going to be late..." He looked down at Rabbit and sighed, his hand didn't leave her head. "Guess, I have to miss the interview.. can't leave you alone, rugrat.."
Rabbit looked up at Digger and got a ver puzzled look on her face. "She said I was big.."
"Not alone.."

Big brother huh? Made sense. "Wull who says she's alone? I mean... I know we jus met, an' I prob'ly oughta get home, but if ya dun mind da little Bunny comin' ta da lodin' house dere's no place safah," she reassured him. "That is, if ya trust me with her. She won't leave my sight, and she'll have a wonderful time." Prince was almost certain about it. Seemed like this guy had somewhere to go, and a girl with no where to be. Prince had pleanty of kids, so even if Rabbit got bored with her surely there'd be other newsies around who'd play with her.

Rabbit jumped up and down, grabbing ahold of Digger's coat sleeve, yanking on it as she went up and down. Up and down. "Come on big Brother, Mr. Lady'll take care of me.."
"She said her name was Prince, midget.."
"Prince Lady'll take care of me... an' you can go see the scary man."
Digger looked at Prince curiously a moment, then looked back at Rabbit. Honestly, Rabbit could take care of herself, and if this girl kept an eye on her then maybe he could make his interview with Nicholas. "Could you please stop calling him scary man, Rabbit.."
Rabbit furrowed her brow, eyes glistening, knowing Digger hadn't said yes her no, she pouted. She wanted to go play with Prince. She was tired of sitting around, she didn't like new kids for the most part. They were scary, and mean, but, Prince was nice. She liked her.
Digger rolled his eyes, and sighed, ruffling her hair, "I suppose it's alright.. I'd only be gone a couple hours.."

"It's fine, and we'll just be in Queens, lodin' house, it ain't hard ta find. Ask any newsie, they'll tell ya how ta get there," she said. She smiled down at the little girl. "What cha think huh? Wanna come and hang out with me for a couple of hours?" she asked Rabbit with a cheerful grin, and caring eyes.

Rabbit bounced up and down, nodding enthusiastically. She gave Digger the brightest smile that the girl had ever bestowed upon her 'big brother'. All Digger could do was smile and kiss the girl on the head. "Alright, Rabbit, go have fun with Prince. I'll come fetch you from Queens when I'm done with my interview.."
Rabbit almost attatched to Digger's waist before she bounced over to Prince with a smile. "You're pretty!"
Digger rolled his eyes at the honestly of a seven year old then smiled and in a few steps closed the distance to kiss the mite on the cheek. "Have fun, Elione.."
Rabbit furrowed her brow, "Don't call me that, Doug..." she almost pouted then kissed him on the cheek. "Be carefull, Digger. Don't let the scary man hurt you.."

Prince smiled to him. "We'll see ya in a couple of hours," she said to the reporter. "Come 'ere kid," she said picking the girl up and putting her on the statue. "Thanks for the compliment, but dun go sayin' that just anywhere okay?" she said with a wink to the kid. "Hop on," she said turning around so Rabbit could ride on her back to Queens. "Good luck with ya interview," Prince said to Digger with a smile. "Hope the scary man don't get you in trouble," she teased.

Rabbit pounced ont Prince's back and smiled with a nod to her instructions, "Okay, why?" she asked, her eyes glowing as she spoke. She wouldn't say that around just anyone anyway. She didnt' talk all that much, she was a hider, she didn't talk to just anyone, despite her reaction to Prince.
Digger smirked a bit, "I'll be fine, don't worry about me. I report the news, I'm not part of it.." he gave Rabbit a pat on the head and a smile before he jogged off, waving once more before he dissapeared.
Rabbit held onto Prince's back and giggled, "You know what?"

Prince lookwed over her shoulder at the girl on her back. "What?" she asked with a smile. She was hoping the child would forget about asking why. Prince couldn't think of a reason for that one. She'd have to think about it somemore. What could she tell a kid that wouldn't be a lie? For now, she just hope that the young girl would forget about it.

Rabbit grinned, "You remind me of my sister, she went to heaven." The litter girl seemed almost ecstatic, at the thought of staying with Prince for awhile. She knew that being in heaven meant that her sister, her brothers and her mommy and daddy were dead. She hummeda bit, the thought of death, was nothing to her now. She knew that people died, it was the way the world was.
