At Hawkeye's comment Mollie cracked a grin. "Yeah, people just dont usually take kindly to theives. So I dont usually tell em, cuz deys just call me lazy or somethin." She looked to Pepper, who looked skeptical of her still. "And if youse is wonderin why Ise told ya, its cuz Ise an honest theif. If Ise didnt tell ya and youse found out from someone else, wouldn't ya check yerself after you spent some time with me, or afteh youse walked by me on de street? So long as youse heard it from me, youse aint gonna find nothin missin. Ise aint gonna tell someone Ise a theif and den steal from em, dats a good way to get caught."

Pepper smirked, "S'pose we all got ta earn our keep, stealing's one way of going at it. I'd be careful just who ya steal from though, could land ya in a mess of trouble."
She sat, flicking her fingers on her right hand. It was an odd habit she developed over the years, still unsure as to why she did it.

Mollie smirked. "Boy, Ise dont even need teh be told dat.." She said. "Ise picked de wrong pocket a good many times befoah... " she said, a little laugh escaping her lips after she'd finished. She thought back on that.. oh, how terrible of a theif she'd been a few years back.

Hawkeye rolled her eyes, "Haven't we all?" She glanced between the two, quickly adding, "With selling papes, you know? Pick the wrong fellow to pester, have things thrown at you, need to run for ages and ages..." she stared off into space for a moment before nodding and leaning back in her chair, "Yeah, fun times."

Mollie cocked an eyebrow at Hawkeye's 'havn't we all' coment. "Youse sound like yer talkin from some experience dat aint jest from bein a newsie.." she said. It was more of a question then a statement... she wanted to know if this girl had been a thief in her past. It sounded like it, but she couldn't be sure.

Hawkeye shifted slightly in her seat, "Well, before I became a newsie I did have to eat," she rolled her eyes, "Wasn't like it was a full time job. Just a loaf of bread once in a while or something. She shrugged, "And I have picked the wrong customers, mind you, and believe me, I ain't never seen a seventy year old man run so fast in my life."

Mollie couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “It aint evah a full time job.” She said. Everyone she knew who thieved said it wasn’t a full time job, even if it was. “And some a dem old folks… well, deys a lot more keen den youse would think.” She said. She usually relied on the old ones to have worse senses of feeling, hearing, sight. But she hated robbing them, they were so defenceless. She usually went for the obviously rich folks and would pawn a pocketwatch or an expensive handkerchief.
