SlingShot knocked nervously on the door. She had told Trigger and Spot she wouldn't do this but... it all sounded so inviting. She decided to come to the Bronx in order to be farther away from Spot. She shuffled her feet, thinking. She at least wanted to know what this was all about. If she didn't like it, she could refuse.

((sorry for the late reply. somehow missed this. Sorry about that.))
Nick came down the stairs and was about to head towards the kitchen when he heard a knock at the door. He stopped in his tracks and headed over curious to see who it was who was paying him a visit. He opened the door slightly. "Hello, can I help you?" he asked gruffly.

Nick looked her over for a minute. "A newsie huh? Well... come in," he said backing up so that he could let her enter their own little version of a lodging house.

SlingShot nodded, then warily entered the building, glancing back at Nick as she did.

Nick closed the door behind her and offered her a chair. "Please have a seat," he said as he sat down in a chair across from the one he offered her. "Now, what questions have you for me?" he asked to her looking extremely interested in what she was going to say.

"Well..." he said, keeping the executive look to him, "jobs that even out society mostly. They take courage, will, strength, and persiverance. And telling by the kind of courage you have I'm sure you could handle what we do. We are sort of... the Robin Hoods of New York City. Give money to those who deserve it, like yourself, after all, you are a newsie. You deserve more money than you have, and it's our job to make sure you get it," he explained cooly.

SlingShot listened carefully, then shook her head. "So..... you're talking about stealing?"

"If you want to put it that way, I suppose so," he said nodding. "But if you think of it this way, a few dollars here a few dollars there, the people we steal from won't miss the money at all will they? We're not doing any damage, just taking what should be rightfully ours."

SlingShot frowned. "And why would I want to do this? At least as a newsie I make an honest living..."

"The money?" he suggested. "Surely a newsie always needs more money as well. Think of all the beautiful things you could buy with all the money you could hope for. Dresses, perfume, jewlery, anything you wanted. New York City itself could be yours if you played your cards right. With money you could help others like yourself too. An honest and loving girl like yourself surely has a kind and beautiful heart to match her face," he said with a charming smile.

SlingShot frowned suspiciously. "Well...", she said doubtfully, thinking it over. "But... isn't that dishonest?" She twirled a strand of her hair around her finger. He made it sound so.... okay...

"What's dishonest anyway? No doubt most of the money those men made was by telling a lie, or two. Not even newsies do that! You see, it's them that stole the money, so we are actually doing the City a favor by taking it away from them." He explained it all so simply, as though it were the honest to goodness truth in itself.
