Coop looked from the paper to her in a mix of surprise and bewilderment. He fidgeted around in his seat a little. He looked into her eyes. It was then that it finally occured to him who she reminded him of. He cleared his throat and looked down at the table. His voice was quiet at first, a little louder than a whisper. "He was my best friend...supposed to be my best friend..."

Murder nodded, understanding in her eyes. She reached out and touched his hand lightly for reasurance. She gestured for him to go on. She wasn't there to judge him--more than likely he did what he had to do, and it wasn't his fault.

He took a deep breath, trying to think back to where he never wanted to go in the first place.
"I was different back then. I didn't care about anyone, only my money. I had the thing that everybody really wants, respect. There was this girl, Emily. She must've done something to him...he didn't think like that. He...he wasn't one to...he'd never betray me. But he did. He chose her. He told her everything. Everything that was supposed to be kept secret. Those were hard times and if the wrong person got hold of that information...I had to."
He looked into her eyes again. "You know, it's hard to live up to someones expectations. When everyone expects you to be just like you fa...a certain person. So, I did what I had to."
Coop stopped and closed his eyes, talking faster by the minute. He couldn't stop now even if he wanted to. He went back to that day and as he talked, it was like he was there watching it happen.
(WARNING....the next part is kind of graphic)
"I'm suprised at you, James. Ya got bold." James took a small step back, thinking about what he could do. He couldn't run. Coop would put a bullet in his back before he took three steps. There was nothing he could do. "I can tolerate a lot of things, James. But you betray me. We was best friends." The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He stood from the floor, away from Emily. He nodded his head toward James and instantly, he was forced down into a wooden chair by two of Coop's men. His hands were pulled behind his back and tied. Another guy came toward them with a bucket of gasoline. Coop slowly walked over to James and without warning stabbed him three times with his small pocket knife. James hunched over in pain, unable to do more than yell. He fought desperatly to get his hands free, but it was no use. Coop cleaned his bloody knife off on James' shirt, before putting it into his pocket. The boy began to poor the gasoline all over James. He spit up the gas and began coughing. Coop struck a match and stood infront of James. "You were a good guy, James," Coop said, patting him lightly on the cheek. "But that mouth of yours, it's gonna get you killed someday." James begged for Coop's mercy, who turned on his hill and began to slowly walk away. Suddenly he turned around and threw the match at him instantly catching his clothes on fire. Painful shirills, fit to wake the dead, filled the room. Coop's eyes widened as he smiled.
Coop opened his eyes, revealing their blood red color. "But you gotta believe me. I've changed.

Murder's own eyes were dark now, but she looked unphased. Things like that happened all the time when she lived with her father. And she never really was affected by it. What he had done was horrible, but clearly he had tried to grow and become a different person. He believed her.
She sighed and put a card in front of him.
I do.
She squeezed his hand a bit and smiled. She could at least give him her past.
She scribbled quickly on a card and placed it in front of him.
I was supposed to follow my father. I'm Monk Eastman's daughter.
If he had been a part of the underworld once, he would know that name The butcher of manhattan. The leader of the biggest gang in New York.

His eyes widened. It all came together now. Her eyes matched her fathers, only hers were softer. He chuckled a little thinking about how much they had in common. He never told anybody about what happened and the one person he tells is already use to it. This made him feel more comfortable. Monk Eastman's daughter, the "Mafia Princess", was sitting right infront of him. "This is crazy," he mumbled.

Emmanuelle looked at the two people sitting at the table and her eyes widened. She ran over with a huge smile on her face. One that she hadn't used in a long while. "Farlan!"

Coop jumped at the girls voice. He looked up and saw Emmanuelle, someone he hadn't seen in two years. "Manny?" She looked so different from the last time he had seen her. "What're you doing here?" He pulled her down into the seat so she wouldn't create a scene.

She laughed softly and nodded. She pushed the card out.
Name's Heather. Call me only in private.
She ran for a reason. She wasn't about to go back to be married off like a piece of cattle, simply to grow her father's hold on New York. Her father culled her for leadership, and it backfired on him. Because she wasn't about to be dominated.
She hadn't run into Coop accidentally. Something had drawn her to him, and now she understood. He was probably one of the few who could understand her situation--even more so than her best friend.
Seeing the waitress get highly excited and sit down with them, she nodded gently. Clearly one of his old friends. One could immediately see her walls go back up, her face becoming stoic and passive again. She barely trusted anyone, and in a situation where she met someone new, she went back to her hard exterior.

"I should ask you the same thing," she said. Her voice darkened. "I I had to move. They've been lookin for you and know that your back..." She stopped and looked over at the girl sitting with Coop.

Coop noticed the look Emmanuelle was giving Murder. "It's ok, Manny." He turned to Murder and noticed that she had tensed up. "Murder, this is Emmanuelle, Manny, Murder."

Murder nodded, her face unreadable. She did put her hand out, her eyes searching' Emmanuelle's face.

Emmanuelle hestitantly took Murder's hand, shaking it and then quickly pulling it back. She sized her up with her eyes, sensing something about her. She turned back to Coop. "When did you get back?" she asked.
