Irish walked up, Gin at her side. She had gotten a cone of Vanilla Ice cream and held it down for Gin to eat. She kept a good grip as he licked and bit the food. She smiled as she looked at him, this spoiled mongrel. He wasn't skin and bones like the other strays, she had taken good care of him. It was kinda sad, thought, because he was nice and fed all the time, and she was constantly starving. "You're a good dog." She said honestly. What that girl had said was true, he was good for keeping her company.

Alanna had indulged herself and gotten some chocolate. She was entertained by the dog, and the girl. She giggled as he wagged his tail, "He's healthy. You take good care of him. My brother had a dog like him, a long time ago." She crouched down and scratched his ears a bit. "Gators.." she muttered with a shrug. Meaning, the gators got him.

Irish looked at Criol as she talked, then to Gin. She wasn't going to mention that she was hungry all the time to keep this dog well fed. "Gators?" She asked, not really knowing what they were. "That's an odd name for a dog." She said. "Not like Gin... Gin's a good name for a dumb mutt." She said 'dumb mutt' as if it were a compliment, and Gin took it as one. He licked Irish's face, then quickly went back to the ice cream.

Alanna looked at the girl curiously a moment before she laughed. "Allegators, they are rather large scaley beasties with big teeth." She started to chuckle. "My brother's dog was named Juju Bean, chere. I'm from down south, Louisiana. The bayous. We've lots of strangness down there." Though to her, New York was strange. There were a lot more people here then there were back home.
"Back home, there are willow trees, it's hot," She wrinkled her nose as she adjusted her skirts a bit. "It's cold as death up here, how do you yanks stand it? Mon deu I've never been so cold.."

Irish understood what she had meant now. She listened Criol complain about the weather, "I don't know how we stand it, I just come here during Summer my self, so I'm not used to the cold."
Gin was now sticking his nose into the cone to get the last of the ice cream, "You know, you can just eat the cone until you get there." She told him, breaking off a piece and holding it out to him. Gin took the bite from her hand, then went back to shoving his nose into the cone to get the ice cream. "Forget it, you dumb mutt." She said with a sigh.
Irish looked back to Criol, "Oh, one thing, I was ignoring the fact that I had no idea what you mean by the word chere... i mean, eveyone has some strange word they say all the time... but what is Mon Deu?"

Alanna thought a moment before she started to giggle, her calm eyes sparkled when she laughed. "Mon Deiu means my goodness or my word." She watched the girl quietly a moment as she took a lick or two of heer ice cream cone.
"chere means dear, back home we speak mostly french at home, English is secondary to us. I'm sorry, I tend to speak without thinking, when I get flustered I lose my English all together, it's awfully emberassing."

Irish shrugged, "That's ok." She said. "I'd prefer some type of speaking, as opposed to Barking." She said, giving Gin a sorry look. "Barking's fine, it just gets annoying some times." She admited.
She looked up to Alanna, "Been a while until I've actually talked with someone, otha than Gin." She said, patting Gin as he finally started taking bites out of the cone.

Alanna smiled, "I'm glad I could be of some assistance. Talking to dogs isn't a bad thing, chere." She crouched down and scratched Gin behind the ear, smiling all the while. "It's not a bad thing at all, People talk back though. Make the whole convorsation thing a bit less on sided." She giggled, this was an adorable dog, and a nice girl. She was enjoying herself.

Irish smiled at Alanna's words. "I love talkng to this guy, but he's more of a little brother that seems to follow you around everywhere." She explained. "But, it's ok, at least he can't talk to me all the time to annoy me." She said, giving him a nice, hearty pat on the side. "All done." She said, letting him search her for more ice cream.
Irish looked to Alanna, "Yeah, people aren't all that bad." She said, in almost a sarcastic and skeptical way. "They can make a conversation better." She said.

Alanna chuckled, "Where I come from, the people are less. And the people that are there, you've known since forever. There are times when you run out of things to talk about." She enjoyed the rest of her ice cream cone and grinned at Irish. "New people are awfuly exciting, chere. I've never met so many different kinds as I have since I've been in New York. Though, that isn't always a good thing either."
Aware she was rattling on a bit, she laughed. "Oh, sorry, I talk to much."

Irish nodded at the comment of so many types of people in New York. When Alanna appologized for talking to much, Irish shrugged, "Well, this guy barks to much." She said, giving Gin a quick rub on his head, "And I still let him stay with me." She said, giving Gin a 'right?' look. Gin started barking a little, but quickly returned to his search for more food. He walked over to Alanna and sat at her feet, hoping to get something from her. Irish shook her head at Gin's antics. "You nuts." She said to him. She looked to Alanna, "I've been kinda avoiding others in New York... my aquantence list has reached a great number of... 3." She said, counting Alanna. "Four, if you count Gin."

Alanna handed Gin the rest of her ice cream cone with a grin as she listened to Irish, her brow furrowed a bit. She knew what avoiding people was like. Her eyes shifted slightly before she smiled brightly.
"Well, I look at it this way. The more people I meet, the more friends I have and the richer my life is. I may not have a dime, chere. But, I am rich with the people I count dear to me." She grinned and ruffled Gin's ears. "Life is less tedious with others to count on."

Irish shrugged, she had never thought about that. Yeah... she had heard that before, or something like that, but had never really believed it. "Is that right?" She said in a skeptical way. This was different from the way she normally spoke, she was actually skeptical this time. "I'm fine with a bed to sleep in, a Dog at my side, and money in my pocket." She said honestly. "And with the last two, I don't really need a bed, more than I do a place."

Alanna shook her head and then chuckled, "Then I'm sorry for you. It must be a lonely life to lead." There wasn't really pitty in her eyes though she did feel sorry for the girl. Even not speaking to her family, she had people she could go to if she needed anything. People she cared for, and cared about her.
