Maggie smirked and laughed. She liked this kid. Good personality--she could tell.
"Well..isn't there that saying, ask and ye shall recieve? Her western twang came through a bit, but it was soft, not obnoxious. Guess got your message if thats what you were askin' for." She laughed and winked, tappin him on the arm a bit. "But you might just have asked for a heap of trouble!" She put out her hand, nodding to both Brigmal and Aria.
"I'm Maggie. Very nice to meet you both."

Aria smiled. Brigmal was a good kid...and was glad he was making light of the situation. Maggie seemed the right sort of girl as well. "Well I'm glad to meet you, Maggie." She nodded. "New aquaintences and friends are always good."

Brigmal shook his head, "I'm sorry to have, apparently, sent you mixed messages." He smiled. "Well, nice to meet you Maggie." He looked back to the door, then back to her. "May I ask, was there any other reason for coming up here, and putting my arm around you?" He was sure it had something to do with those guys, but wasn't sure what had happened.

Maggie smiled back at him. "You have a nice shade of grey for eyes, you know?" She smirked. "Sorry. I tend to mention things at random. I notice things a bit different from others."
She listened to him for a moment and shrugged. "Now..do I need another reason besides seein' a handsome boy?" She shook her head. "No...I found out that the way you 'improve the truth' in San Fanscisco don't really fly here in New York." That was only part of the story, but it was the part she wanted to tell.

Aria just sat back and listened to the two of them. She enjoyed it. She was going to have to go soon anyways.

Brigmal, "Ah, well, here in New York we're too smart to fall for those San Franscisco tricks." He said, raising his eyebrows in a very dignified way. He smiled, and if click on what she had said first. "Grey... yes... um, thank you." He never really thought about his eyes much, they were usually covered by his hat, and people didn't notice them; he had taken it off when he walked into the church.
'They're just like your mothers' He heard a voice repeat in his head. It was his grandfather's voice; the father of his mother... the man who never understood what was going on in his family. Brigmal wouldn't know what his mothers eyes were like... he rarely saw her. He lowered his eyes as he thought about that, his face drooping a bit. His eyes lifted, and he looked around. He was avoiding looking at Maggie, but forgot about Ariannette for a second... a second long enough for his eyes to look at hers. Quickly he lowered them, and shut them for a second. This whole thing had lasted about 10 seconds. He opened his eyes, a new light in them as he thought about other things. He was able to block out his family; his past... but it would always seem to sneak up on him.
"And to return the compliment, may I comment on your very nice smile." It may have the structure of a question, but it was more of a statement. His face was very happy and bright once again; a big smile stretched across it.

Maggie watched him...and took it all in. Her father had taught her to be preceptive--he always said the things you see in others may be the very thing that saves you or their lives.
She wasn't about to say something to him about it though. He seemed to be the kind who buried that sort of thing deep within himself. She filed it all away--she might talk to him later, but now was definitely not the time. HE was a curious one to be sure.
She smirked and tapped him on the chest. "Well maybe I just messed up...San Fran tricks are different--but not necessarily dumber...we're a bit more rough 'n tumble..." She laughed softly. "And there wasn't any horse for me ta jump on ta get away."
"And thanks on the commens on my smile...so...ya just..." She ran a hand through her chestnut curls. "...glad ya such a friendly boy.."

Aria watched Brigmal carefully, but stood up. She had to get going, and Maggie and Brigmal seemed content to talk to eachother.
"Well I have to go...please to meet you, Maggie..and if you ever need anything Brigmal, you know where to find me." She stood and smiled softly, waddling out of the church.

Brigmal smiled and nodded, "Yeah; see you later." He looked back to Maggie. "Well, you'd better work on new tricks. And, no, there aren't that many horses you can just jump on a run away with; but there are plenty of places to hide." He stretched, and smiled, "And if you ever just need somone's arm to use to hide, well; if I there..." He let the thought trail off as he smiled wider. "Well, it's just one of those smiles you can't help but notice."

Maggie shook her head. "I dont have to worry about that really anymore..." She shrugged. "...I work in the textile mill now....its a big change from what I'm from, let me tell you!" She winked and smirked at his arm comment. "Aww...well I guess I might just pretend that I'm being chased when your around."
She paused for a moment, then blushed. "Sorry. Sometimes I forget my place. Thing are different here than out West. I'm a bit too forward." She still managed a bright smile again. "...perhaps I was a bit of a lucky girl to run into you before some other girl answered your prayer." She laughed brightly.

Brigmal shook his head, "Nah, it's ok... I prefer a little straightforwardness... if that's a word. Anyways, it helps me know what's going on in that girlish head of yours... no offense." He added. He could never understand girls.
"Ah, it takes more than a pretty girl to come up and wrap my arm around her to answer my prayers; but... why talk about that now." He said, "You can pretend to be chased around all you want... just tell me when you actually are, so I can help." He said with a mocking smile, as if expecting her to end up being chased again.

Maggie smiled. "Oh Sugar...if you ever spend any time with me...you'll see I ain't like other girls....I dont like ta send mixed signals. What I say is what I mean.."
She nodded. "Hopefully it wont happen again..." She sighed, leaning back a bit, looking over his face. "but I appreciate the offer just the same."
Some light was coming through the stained glass windows, bathing her face in light. She wasn't a contentional beauty, but she was pretty just the same. But she didn't see it. Spent too much time with rag tag boys to acknowledge her beauty.
"...It ain't my place ta ask what ya were prayin' for...a man's secrets and prayers are his own--even if he dont own nutin...he owns that stuff." She smiled and nodded. "My daddy used to say that all the time...but always said spillin dem guts of yours is a good thing too."

Brigmal lowered his head, but held his smile. He looked back up, "But, beautiful, I have a lot of guts to spill." He told her with a shake of his head, and a smile... yet, you could see in his eyes that, inside, he was sad. "Eyes don't lie... I know you know what's going on in my head." He said to her. "My father was a druken bastar..." He stopped and looked around, remembering he was in a church. "... Man. He didn't do anything, but get fired from every job. My mother loved every man in the world... besides my father. My sister was a sickly girl; a few years older than me. My brother was trying to do everything like me; trying to care for everyone and work at the same time." He paused for a second
"One day my father just left, taking my brother with him; I don't know if either are still alive. I was praying for them to be ok, and my brother not to be hurt." He looked down, then back to her. "My sister died soon after they left; I lit the candle for her, telling her I still cared for her. Then... my mother... she found a new bastar... man... and well, I left. I still prayed for her, because I don't want her to suffer; maybe live a lonely life, but not physically suffer." He said, eyes looking down "They may not be the greatest family, but they're still family." He finished.

Maggie bit her lip. "...all the more reason ta spill...one cant live with guts up ta his eyes...all that pain makes life hard ta bear."
She listened quietly and after he was done she reached out and put a hand over his, patting it a bit. "Right sad past ya had...butcha are right. Family's family." She figured a gut spilling deserves one in turn.
"Me mom and I live with me grandfather now...wes both work in the textile mill..hard, ya know? I'm used ta always bein in tha sun." She smiled sadly. "I'm a right western child. Me dad had gold fevah. Died tryin' ta make money in pannin. Forgot about me mom and me--didn't mean ta...he just wanted ta make a life for us so bad he kinda forgot ta take time ta appreciate things." She shrugged and laughed a bit. "Funny..I nevah remember wantin' none though...me mom was a washer woman..I sold papers on does streets..it was crazy...but I loved it."

"Ah, life..." He said. His expression was very straight, and it was hard to tell what he meant; if he said it in a sad, happy, stressed out, ect., way. "We have to go through it, so might as well be optimistic; eh?" He told her. "That's what my grandfather said, a great yet neive man; Life isn't guarenteed, so even having life is an amazing thing." he told her. "The only thing you're guarenteed in this world is death." He said it straight out, it was true.
Putting his hands out he shook his head, "Now, don't go thinking I don't feel bad for you, and that I don't think you should feel bad about your life, I'm just telling you what I've always heard." He softened up a bit, and gave her a sympathetic smile.
