Lukas rolled his eyes, this kid was a trip. The situation did have its perks, this was one of the rare times when Lukas could pick on someone without getting his butt kicked for it. He gave a sly smile choosing to mess with the boy a tad longer. "Dangerous is right" He said it almost as a cackle. "Meet a Bronx native an' ya never know if you'll come out alive"

Tumbler wanted to run. He wanted to just run away until he found somebody that could help him, but if the Bronx was really dangerous he knew he might meet somebody even more dangerous than this boy. Although....was this boy really dangerous? He hadn't hurt him yet. Maybe I should just ask him, Tumbler decided. If he was bad he'd probably be honest about it.
"What about you? Are you dangerous?"

Lukas' grin ceased immediatly. He wasn't planning on being questioned on his status, and to that he had no clever response.
"Figure it out for yerself, you twit!" He snapped and folded his arms over his chest and flared his nostrils. He pouted like the immature little bo he was. "Have I done anythin' to you? No - but if ya keep annoyin' me I jus' might.." He snorted and continued. "What's yer name anyways?"

"I'm sorry."
Tumbler hung his head, embarrassed. This boy wasn't dangerous, just mean. Still, if he could help him....
"My name's Tumbler. What's your name?"

He huffed at the apology, not really caring. "None of yer business." He smirked at the embarrassed little boy.
He poked his head back out from under the table and smiled - it was still raining, but not pouring. Seemed like a good break to slide back to the lodging house, he'd still be wet but at least the drops wouldn't sting his face.He bent over and peered at Tumbler under the table. "Rain lightened up - probably clear enough where ya might not miss da river..." His voice rang with bitter sarcasm.

Tumbler crawled over to the edge of the picnic table and poked his head out. A few raindrops fell onto his nise, but most of them were just from the top of the dripping table. He inched out and stood on the soaking ground, suddenly noticing how wet he was.
A loud sneeze was the only answer he could give.

Lukas inspected his clothing - muddy and sopping wet he groaned. The worn felt of his derby had taken on a bit too much water and droplets continued to roll down the back of his neck, he wiped at it succeeding at nothing.
"Ya wanna know the way back to 'hattan, Tumbler?" He asked a little kinder than anything he said in the past, however his sly little smile was back.

Tumbler sniffed and wiped his nose with his wet sleeve. He felt bad for the older boy, having to walk in the rain because of him. Tumbler decided that they'd both better get someplace warm before they got sick.
"A sick newsie is a rich newsie," somebody once told him. They added, more importantly. "An ACTUALLY sick newsie is worm's meat."
Tumbler replied to the boy.
"Yes, I do." He shivered, looking out into the darkness. Moving closer to the boy, he tightened his fists. Tumbler was afraid.

Lukas took a step back sneering down at Tumbler. The last thing he wanted was the snotty, sneezing little twerp to touch him and get him sick. The kid looked so pathetic, wet, shivering, lost, and scared - if it was anyone but Lukas they probably would have felt sorry for him.
"Well it is that way" He pointed to the right, "An' I'm goin' home, which is this way..." He pointed in the opposite direction now.

This time Tumbler's tears truly began. The rims of his eyes were filling quickly, and he wiped them a few times so theyr would not fall. He tried to had his sad sniffles with sickly ones, but it was no surprise that he sounded horrified when he spoke.
"You mean, you want me to find my way back alone?"
He didn't need an answer.
"Why won't you go with me?" He cried.

Lukas' face was of someone in sheer panic. He had no idea what to do now that the kid was actually crying. Part of him wanted to slap him, another making him stop, and a third was telling him just to run.
"Uh..." His eyes were wide and he looked around for someone to help, but of course no one else was stupid enough to be standing in the rain. "Jus' -jus' stop snifflin'!" He snipped and waved his arms around as if it would brush away the situation. "I wanna go home too! I'm wet, cold, an' tired.." He whined as if it was some good reason for not wanting to walk Tumbler to Manhattan.

Tumbler held in his whines and wiped at his tears ferociously. Taking a deep breath, he approached the boy and looked up at him pitifully.
"Please."
A smile reached his face.
"You could stay in Manhattan!"

Lukas took a step back, still unnerved by the little kid. He bit his lower lip trying to figure out where to go from here. If he didn't help the kid he'd probably follow him anyways and he'd just prolong getting rid of him. After a moment of shifting around uncomfortably, he sighed.
"Fine kid." He said defeated, he had no intention of staying there but decided that if he told the kid he'd probably start crying or something all over again. "Let's go, I wanna get this ovah with.." He said gruffly and started to walk away from the table. A moment later he turned around he was glaring a bit now. "But if ya cry I'm gonna throw ya off da stinkin' bridge!" He said it just to be mean..in all reality be probably couldn't lift Tumbler over the railing.

Tumbler nearly jumped in his joyful state, but decided that now wasn't an appropriate time. He had heard the unkind words following the agreement, but decided not to delve further into them. He was, after all, going home.
"Lead the way!"

"Shut up.." Lukas mumbled severely irritated with Tumbler. He couldn't decide what was worse, seeing him crying or excited. In the end he decided they were equally as bad because he had to deal with them. He trudged away from the beach in the direction of the Bridge. He never glanced back for Tumbler, knowing he'd probably be on his heels afraid that some Bronx boy would jump out of a bush and nap him.
