"It's great." She said to the girl who had entered. She barely looked up from the watch as she spoke. Slowly her head rose, looking at the girl in front of her. "I'm Banshee." She told her. Always keeping, at least, one hand on the watch.

Smokes dug her hands into the pocket. "Smokes."
She pulled out a cigar and placed it between her lips, letting it hang befor putting her hands back into her pockets. "Where're you from?"

Banshee listened as the girl said 'Smokes.' But it took her a few seconds to infer that it was her name. When she heard the question, her eyes slowly lowered, "Does it really matter?" She asked, not wanting to think about it. "I'm here, and that's all I really care about." She said, pushing the watch into her pocket. She didn't want to answer such a question, and she felt it unfair to ask that question of another. Keeping her mouth shut, her eyes rose to meet Smokes'.

Smokes shrugged, carelessly. "It doesn't." Her face softened. "I understand." Why would she want to share her past with a complete stranger? Smokes wouldn't want to share that either if she wasn't so proud. She took a cigar from her pocket and offeref it to Banshee.

Banshee smiled and gladly took it. "Thanks." If there was once thing she learned from her father, it was how to smoke a cigar... whether or not that's a good thing is a different subject. She reached into her pockets for a light, but shruged and looked to Smokes, "Light?" She asked, knowing Smokes had a light. "So, how do you like it here?" She asked, just trying to start some sort of conversation. "Actually, I want to know what Nicholas is like." She said, as she waited for Smokes to light the cigar.

Smokes pulled out two packs of matches. She tossed one to Banshee before lighting her own cigar. She shrugged. "It's nice." An amused smirk came across Smokes face. "Nicholas? What for?"

"Well, he seems great, and he cares for me... but..." She looked as if she would regret what she was about to say, "Everone that had ever acted nice, or caring somehow turned against me." She said. "I just... I don't want it to happen again." She held an awkward face knew it was kinda childish, but with the past experience she had, it happening again could kill her. "I'm trying hard to trust him, and I mostly do... it's just that little part that needs reassurance." She shifted in her seat, looking at Smokes, but eyes shifting away from Smokes eyes. She lit the cigar, and placed it between her lips.

Smokes' cigar lowered a little in her mouth. She looked at the table like it held all the secrets of the universe. Her eyes slowly drifted upward as she squirmed in her chair a little.
"I hope you don't mind my asking, but are you new to this."
Smokes doubted she was, though she was a whole lot nicer than she'd expect.

Banshee thought for a moment, "Well, I've been a theif for as long as I can remember... but I just recently came here." She said.
((sorry, on vacation don't have time to write much))

Smokes nodded. She thought about what she was going to say before she actually said it. For a theif, this girl was a bit nieve. People like Nicholas didn't care about people like Banshee or even her for that matter. They ony cared about what you do and only if it helps them in some way.
Atleast that's how it had always been for her. Even her own brother, who had been at the top of the heap, treated her only as an employee. Then again Nicholas could be different. She doubted it, but it was still possible. So instead of telling Banshee this, Smokes just smiled. "Yeah, I guess he seems like a pretty nice guy."
((that's ok. i'm patient.))

Banshee shrugged, "Thanks." She was trying to figure out why Smokes left the pause. She gave a big puff of smoke before speaking, "I'm sorry If I'm being annoying." Her eyes shifted, as they often did when she felt akward. "When it comes to stealing, I'm fine; I don't care about the people I steal from. But, when I'm around other people I have to actually talk with and be around a lot... well, it's a whole nother story." She said with a sigh.

Smokes shook her head and smiled. "You're not. You don't have any relation to the people you steal from. It's easy to not care for people you don't know." Smokes put her cigar out under the table and slipped it into her pocket. "We're like a family here. At least that's how I like to look at it. It's easier to trust each other that way." She looked at the table, grinning miserably to herself. She thought about her old gang, but quickly shook the thought from her head.

Banshee nodded, "Yeah, if I don't know 'em, I don't have to care about 'em, so it's easy to steal from 'em." She smiled, "Same goes for those who betrayed you; I could steal from them any time." She listened to what Smokes said about family. "I wouldn't know what a family is really like, because I hope it's not anything like my family." She said very casually. "But, I'll give this a try." She had loosened up a bit, going back to her casual, yet secretive, attitude. The worry was still in her eyes, but the rest of her had calmed down.

"Most of my old gang was my real family, but you'd never know it. They treated everyone the same, family or not." Smokes leaned back in her chair, stretching a bit. "I guess neither one of our families were too good, but mines were better than some. I never got knocked around for anything really."
She liked talking to Banshee. She was a pleasent change from all the people she usually had conversations with. Banshee seemed cool, layed back. The others were usually tense and ready to fight at the drop of a hat.

Banshee shrugged, "My family was... well... not really a family. We were more of a bunch of people who never got along living together." She shrugged. "But, I don't have to deal with them anymore." She said, giving another puff of the cigar. "I did get a few things from them." She said, holding out the watch she had earlier. She showed Smokes, rubbing her finger over the celtic knot.
