((OOC- *Hugs* Thanks!!)) Giselle stepped into her new apartment with a smile. She still wasn't oh-so-used to having a place of her own, but it felt good. A bit lonely, but good. She had some of her parent's furniture in the apartment already... a bed, a couch, a table and some chairs, in addition to a lame, a meduim sized rug and several small rugs. She set her dance bag down on a side table and sat down. The rooms were pretty empty, but she could start fixing that when she had some more of an income.

Giselle unlocked the door to her apartment and walked in, leavign the door open so Pie Eater could follow. The apartment was warm and bright, once she had turned on the lights ((Yay having wealthey parents, light AND heat!)). She looked over her shoulder and smiled, setting her shoes down near the door. "What do you think?" She asked, stepping into the apartment more and setting her coat on the back of a chair.

Pie closed the door behind him. He looked around the apartment, his jaw hanging limply as he gaped. He took off his hat and answered her as he continued to inspect the place. "Think? Sheesh..its warm!" The idea of not having to wear a coat in his own home was thrilling. He pealed off his coat. "How'd end up with this set up as a dancer?"

"My parents 'ad a lot of money when they came over. They spent it mostly on this apartment.. a bad move. They used most of what they 'ad left to return to France. They left the apartment to me." She said, looking back at him. "Want tea? Or Coffee?" She asked. What she had said about the apartment was true, but it was hard for her to pay for by herself. Well, before she got a job, that is.

"Uh..coffee." He found a chair to rest on and took a seat. "Doesn't seem like its too bad of a move now - you got a warm cozy place ta live now right next to work too" He really didn't see anything negative about the deal, but then again when did he ever have to worry about a bill? After a moment of contemplation he chose to pry a bit and meekly asked, "Why'd they go back?"

Giselle shrugged as she began to make the coffee. "They went back because they liked France better. They 'ad family there, and they could make more of a living there, I guess. I also think they just didnt want to deal with me any more... so they told me to keep the apartment and left. They didnt even leave me any money and the rent was due.. fortunatly, the landlord understood..." she said with a sigh. The coffee was done and she poured him a cup. "Do you want anything in it?" she asked.

Pie Eater shook his head and blew at the coffee a bit to cool it before daring to take a sip. He gave her a sympathetic smile, unsure of what was appropriate to say. "Well least yer better off than most kids dumped off by their families. Ya worked it out..already 'ave a job, and the apartments quite a bit better than an orphanage" He had no idea if he was coming off like an insensitive idiot or what so he focused his attention back on the coffee.
After taking a sip and taking a moment to get used to the bitter taste he rarely encountered, Pie Eater started to talk again. "I 'ave no memory or my family...grew up in an orphanage for awhile.."

Giselle took a seat near him. "I know I 'ave it a lot better.. I'm glad I was given the apartment. It beats any orphanage any day." She said with a sigh. She listened to him as he spoke again, about himself. "I'm sorry... " She said, frowning slightly. "Do you live with the other newsies now?" She asked.

He smiled at her, "Don't feel sorry for me - parents weren't evah part of my life so I can't miss 'em." He on the other hand felt sorry for her - to be left alone in a strange country must be terrifying. He took another sip and threw an arm over the back of the chair so he could relax a bit more. "Yeah, lodgin' house in Manhattan - been there 8..9 years. I stopped countin'."

She smiled a bit. "Is it nice?" She asked. She didnt really know what it was like to live with a lot of people in a small ish area... it was a different and intriguing idea for her. She couldnt ever do it, of course, but she was still curious. She pulled her legs up in the chair, tucking her knees into her chest and laying her chin on top of her knees.

"Its home." he replied, his eyes lighting up. He loved the lodging house - it was an exciting place to grow up. He became very animated as he started to describe his living situation, waving his hands about and his face becoming like rubber with expressions.
"We got about 30 boarders, all sharing a big room with bunk beds. Kloppman's always yellin' at someone who's outta line but he's a sweet ol' man. Some kids are like me, grew up there, an' then there is always othah newsies commin' an' goin'" He sighed, "It's real hectic, sometimes agrivatin', but it's like a big family. I can't imagin' livin' on me own...." He frowned a bit at the end, knowing his days selling newspapers were limited and he would have to go elsewhere, but he pushed it out of his mind. He didn't like to think about such negative and depressing things.

Giselle couldnt help but smile when he was talking. He was just so full of energy when he talked about it. When he got to the frown, though, her smile dimmed a little too. "It isnt so bad.." She said. "Its just different... It can be kind of lonely sometimes, but it sounds like youve got enough friends where you wont need to worry about being lonely."

Pie's smile returned. "Plenty of friends - sometimes too many" He chuckled a bit thinking about the fights and arguments that arise in the LH. "Ya know, you should really come ovah sometime - meet some of the crew, they'd warm up to you right away jus' like I did"

"That would be nice.. I'd like to meet your friends." She said. She didnt know many people in New York still, she really hadnt been in positions to meet anyone new. "I dont know many people 'ere in New York yet... it would be great." SHe said with a smile. Maybe she wouldnt be so lonely after all.
