As the crowd by the track dispersed and again the curses flew through the air, Race sauntered back to the wall with a triumphant smirk on his face. "Lucky numbah seven takes da gold," he said as he held his winning stub out in her face as if she were near blind. Grinning he stuffed it into his pocket, giving it a tap to be secure, and looked back to Hawk. "Ya know it's not like we can't sit up in the seats or somethin'. . . I mean since you don't like all the crowdin' and shoutin'. ." Scratching the back of his neck awkwardly he shrugged. "I mean if you evah came back . . again," he finished weakly, not being used to having to struggle for the right words.

Hawkeye smirked, "I told you he would." She shrugged as he continued, "Hey, 's New York, I'm used to the crowds and noise, believe me. It's just ten times louder and more crowded here," she laughed.
She raised her eyebrows at his last comment, "Yeah, I'd come back again," she shrugged, "We could sit up there," she jerked her thumb back toward the seats, "Er, you know, if we were here together... Ran into each other, or... something.. You know?" She shifted, then awkwardly cleared her throat, "So, how much did you end up winning?"

Racetrack couldn't be more happy that she had changed the subject. Smirking he shrugged as if it were no big deal. "Oh yea know, somethin' like five bucks." He couldn't hide the grin in his eyes. He'd be able to eat dinner for weeks off this win!

Hawkeye smirked, "Five bucks, huh? How much am I getting out of it?" she grinned, "I gotta get something, right? I mean, if it weren't for my fantastic advice," she tossed her hair over her shoulder, trying to look superior (but the I'm-trying-not-to-laugh look on her face probably caused that to fail), "You would've bet on number one and gotten nothing," she grinned; teasing Race seemed to have turned into a well-liked hobby for her.

Shrimp cleared his throat and looked away, figuring out how to get that pocketwatch...There had to be a good way somehow. Was that kid distracted enough? The girl had recognized him though. He had to work this out fast before getting noticed again.

He laughed, shaking his head. "Nah if you wanted ta bet then ya shoulda put in your own money, I won this heah fair and square." As he turned to go collect his winnings he looked back at her and added, "But if ya lucky I jist might buy the two of us dinnah sometime." With a small wink and a huge smirk he turned back into the crowd, vanishing into the mass of people around the booth.

Hawkeye's jaw dropped slightly, but, despite herself, slowly curved into a small grin as she watched him disappear. She rolled her eyes, muttering, "What's the use of hanging around with him?" And, of course, followed him around the booth.
Catching up to him, gave him a playful glare, "Better be a nice dinner, buddy."

Race laughed, grabbing the pile of money in exchange for his ticket. Emerging from the crowd he tucked it safely away in his pocket, pulling out a cigar and lighting it as they walked. "What othah kind of dinnah would you expect from me? C'mon heah, gimmie a little credit!"

Hawkeye smirked, "You ain't giving me anything but dinner, what credit should I give you, mister?" She raised an eyebrow cockily and folded her arms across her chest.

He sighed, hoping he wouldn't have to do this. Placing an arm over her shoulder he spoke quietly and in mock-seriousness. "Listen Hawk my deah, I didn't wanna have ta point this out, but you actually said ya thought numbah t'ree would win, so technically, me takin' you out is more of a gesture than a payback." He smirked, placing his cigar back in his mouth and, realizing his arm was still draped over her shoulder, quickly removed it and shoved that hand into his pocket casually.

Hawkeye rolled her eyes, half ignoring what he was doing, "I told you number three would win after I told you seven would. And that was only because you were being... you," she paused, scowling, "And I wasn't jealous," she added, referring to an earlier part of the conversation.

His smirk didn't fade as he walked, ignoring what she said about the horses. "Hey I don' blame ya, I mean, how could ya not be jealous?"

Hawkeye sighed, "You don't give up, do you?" she smirked, not quite meaning what she said to be a bad thing, "Do you want me to just play along and throw myself at you?" She raised her eyebrows, still smirking, "Would that help make you feel like you're really as much of a ladies man as you think?"

He shrugged, stealing a quick glance at her as they walked. "Wouldn't hurt," he said in mock-seriousness, his tense mouth a give away that he was holding back a grin.

Her first reaction was to roll her eyes and send some vaguely degrading comment toward him. She decided to catch him off guard and go with her second.
She stopped walking and flung her arms around his neck with a shockingly large amount of force. After a moment, she loosened her grip and looked up at him, "Better?"
