Jem stood up, the littlest one in the room, he made his way up to the coffin and said his final goodbyes, wiping the tears from his face. Looking out on the older newsies, he just shook his head and left the church silently.

Cheater stood up slowly, not really controlling her movements, she looked a bit surprised to be standing, and she stood there for a few seconds before speaking.
"He was a good kid, I um... never really knew him all that well but... I watched him sometimes when he played poker and stuff... yeah... he seemed really happy." Her voice shook a bit and she quickly sat back down, her ears turning red from embarrassment.

"He wos happy. Happy, an' ye really could never bea' th' boyo out 'f a poker game." Said a voice carrying an Irish lit from the back of the room. Giving the wooden coffin a small, sad smile, Slinks continued, "Brave li'le thing, too -" she chuckled softly. "I don't ever think I saw him flinch from a fight. Always had somethin' t' give yer spirits a lift, Spike did." Her eyes roamed the scattered crowd of newsies, taking in all of the boroughs representatives. Brooklyn, Manhattan...Queens, the Bronx. All of them. Like it should be.

Fancy was thankful for Flick at that moment. "I thought i could handle this but i just can't... " she confessed, leaning against the outside of the church, her hand on her chest. "It reminds me to much of my sister..." she sighed, in her eyes was the fire that burned within her heart whenever she brought up her painful memories. "I-I'm sorry Flick... i shouldn't have interupted you..." she gave him a sort of smile and looked to the sky.

Flick looked at her sadly when she started talking about her sister, but didn't ask any questions.
"Yeah, well I'll live. I'd ratheh be out heah den in dere. To depressin' and well...I'll show me respects afteh everyone else leaves," Flick said as he looked around.

Fancy smiled at him the best she could. "Yeah... i guess i'll stick around to..." she ran a hand through her smooth hair. "He shouldn't have died... there was no need for it..."

"He was a sweet kid too."
Cheater, who, as if she had appeared by magic, added from her spot on the wall outside. Her eyes were slightly red, an indication that she had, in fact, been crying. She had this way of popping up sometimes, not really knowing hoe she got there, and sometimes scaring the heck out of other people.
"I'm not fit to handle myself during a funeral... darn... I'll just go in there later maybe... when there aren't so many people there..." she mumbled, more to herself than anyone else.

He shouldn't have died
"No he should've...but dats da way life goes. But if eveh I get my hands...," Flick stopped mid sentence. "Hey, Cheater. Ya ok?" He looked worriedly from the two girls, he didn't really handle tears that well, they made him feel like he couldn't fix whatever was wrong.

Cheater smiled wryly and nodded. "Yeah. Me an' funerals don't make such a great couple." Her eyes darted upward for a moment before falling back down on the ground. "Ever wonder what would happen if we dug all the way to the center of the earth, maybe past that, and then like... flew up... really high up, past space and everything? I mean, would we reach heaven and hell, or would we just fall into oblivion?"

"If I was rich enough to afford something that could do that for me... or make it." She said with a laugh. "But maybe in a hundred an' six years people would've already found out. Kinda makes you feel weird though to be looking at the sky and think 'oh my gosh, I have no idea how high up that thing goes'."

Flick laughed, "Yeah, well I guess thinkin' o' dat take a mind off of da present," Flick smiled a little, "How do ya let your mind wander so much Cheater?"

She shrugged. "Eh, I dunno, maybe issues with my brain or something, I don't think about it much actually. Or I've got a really short attention spa-- crud," Cheater picked the hair bow up off the ground before continuing, "span."

"Yeah, well I bet it comes in handy at times," Flick said. Think that he wished he could take his mind of the present.

"Yeah, every five years. When my mind's not on the present, it's on the past, and that ain't such a great thing to think about." She said absently.
