"Naw, I'll stay out heah. Its to crowded foh me in dere. I'll say my goodbye lateh. Hey and ya need anythin' just ask," Flick said as he looked up at the sky. He hoped if any of his friends needed his help they'd ask, but some were to stubborn.

SlingShot had sat silently throught the whole thing, and now turned to Spot next to her, waiting for a reaction.

Fancy smiled at him. "You take it easy Flick..." she whispered, patting her friends arm sympathetically before turning around and re entering the crowded chruch.

"Yeah, I will Fancy," Flick said, thought he only closed his eyes. He didn't want to look at anyone or talk to anyone at the moment.

He opened the door slowly and walked silently in. He had lost Red somewhere about a block back, he said he'd catch up. Carter spotted Arianette and sat down next to her. "Have I missed anything?" he whispered into her ear.

Golly watched his coleuge walk in and take a seet next to a woman. The same woman from the bar, he noted curiously. He didn't join them, still not feeling comfortable because he was crashing the whole afair. He frowned at the pastor and kids who got up to speak - it was just rotten.

Race glanced back as the doors opened and scowled at the two cops he now noticed had decided to "watch over" the proceedings. Who do they think they were? They didn't know Spike, they don't know any of us! He sat there fuming, periodically sending glares their direction.

Spot looked up and regarded the cops in about the same way as Race. He turned to Slingshot, "Well, dat was a nice service, but I reckon its about time to leave, before any real trouble starts."

He noticed that every few minutes a newsie would look in his direction and glare. He wasn't here as a cop today, he was just paying his respects to a kid whose life ended way before it should have. He was here for Ariannette and he wished those kids would stop looking back at him. They seemed to look past him as well, and when he turned around he saw Golly sitting a few rows back. He sent him a nod and turned back to listen to what the newsies had to say about their fallen friend.

Golly caught Carter's nod as well as a few glares from newsies around the room. It all made him uncomfortable; he wasn't there to make anyone angry. He turned to walked outside, stopping in the foyer to dip his fingers in the holy water and bless himself. He did not leave the church completely, but instead walked to his horse which was tethered outside and started to futz with his saddle bags. There was still a possibility of something happening and he wanted to be there to calm things down if anything was to formulate.

"What is it wit you cops and havin' ta have your noses in everythin'? Dis is a funeral not some place for ya ta arrest us?" Flick said as he got up from where he sat by the tree. He was angry, not at the officer but in general, and sick of this war. He figured everyone was and it had only been a week since it had begun. "I bet ya are just waitin' ta sent us ta eitheh da refuge to your good ol' pal Snyder," Flick sneered, "or off to jail."

And that was the start. Golly turned slowly to look at Flick, his face void of expression. He had exspected some of the kids to get hostle with his presence - at least the anger was directed towards him and not another newsie. He could handle this.
Golly kept one hand on his mare's neck, patting it gently. "Son, I know its a funeral. Thats why I kept myself in the back and now out 'ere. I got respect fer the dead, newsie or not." His voice was steady and calm, having mentaly prepared himself for this. "An' I ain't 'ere ta get anyone in trouble, the last thing anyone needs, myself included, is ta take a visit ta Snyder. Deres a lot o' tension in dere - its da cause of yer rediculous war! I'm 'ere ta keep you all from goin' ta the refuge - trust me theres a lot more cops than me ya need ta worry 'bout. So be happy I'se 'ere an' not Snyder's henchmen" He let out a sigh at the end of his explination and turned back to the horse.

SlingShot nodded at Spot. "Yeah lets go before things get ugly" She looked around. "And from the looks that cop is getting, things ARE going to get ugly"

Aria sighed, placing a hand in Carter's, whispering. "Nothing really. Some poor kids showed up terribly beat up...things are getting serious. Perhaps this somber funeral will make them realize what they are doing is folly and they need to end it." She sighed. "I don't want to see any more children hurt..."

"I honestly hope it does. It upsets me that the kids are fightin' like this. They'll be lucky if they aren't traumatized when they're adults." He sighed and took a deep breath. Some of the newsies seemed to be leaving.
