Prince sighed. "Look... it ain't gonna be easy... da best we's can do is stick tagetha... without eachother we nothin'..." she remembered Jack had said that once. "I'm sorry I kinda gotcha in dis mess... but now dat we're in it we bettah stick it out..." she said. She wasn't going to let these guys down now. She'd half caused this problem, and she was going to stick with her decision... whatever may happen.

Sparks looked over at Prince from the sofa. He already knew that he wasnt going to be able to avoid trouble, there being no way he wouldn't see his sister. Everything about this war seemed to be fishy though. A Brooklyn kid was found dead in 'Hatten, nowhere in there is Queens mentioned.
"Why are we fightin' 'Hattens war fo' em? A Brroklyn kid was found in 'Hatten, Ise didn't heah no mention o' Queens theah, but wes sucked into dis anyway? What do we get for takin' a few hits for Jacky from a coupla Brookies?"
Sparks stodd up and headed for the lodging house door, he was done listening and had to do some thinking about this whole mess. He left the Kitchen to avoid this kind of thing. On his way out the door he turned around,
"Theah's one thing Ise knows fo' sure. If I catch anyone messin' wit my sistah if she toins up lookin' fo' me, I'll make sure you toin up in 'Hatten."[/size]

Dazzle looked around the room from where she was in the dark door way but she was a little confused. She didnt' really know that many Queens newsies so she stayed where she was puzzling over what was being said. Something about a war and fighting thought thats all she caugh.
She looked up and decided that with all the worried looks to walk into the room. From what she could tell now was not the time to be sneaky. She almost ran into Sparks as she walked in.
"Whats goin' on? Some little boy can running into da library and said we were ta go back ta da our lodging houses"

Flanna sighed and stood as Sparks was leaving. "He's right. Don't get me wrong, Prince. Since we are in this, and there is no way out, I'll stand with you guys. I'm loyal til death." She shook her head. "But fightin' a war over one dead boy...more dead and injured aren't going to make up for his death. Just make it worse."
She weighed her options. She could stay...but Sparks wasn't in the best o' states, and likely to do something rash. And she couldn't allow that.
"Sparks. I'm coming with ya." She followed him out the door.
On her way out she looked at Dazzle she said in her fake male voice. "It's war with Bronx and Brooks."

"Bronx and Brooklyn? Why are we at war wit dem?" Dazzle turned towards Prince completely confused. What had I missed? This can't be good!
No one answered Dazzles question. She looked expectantly at everyone and then turned towards Prince.

Prince sighed. Youger kids filed in after Dazzle, lot of young boys, what make up the majority of Queens. That's what what was strange about Queens... there weren't many who were over 11 years old. After taking one look at Sparks the kids were full of questions, and they asked everyone, Dazzle, and Flan as she was leaving, and everyone else. "Alright! Alright! Settle down!" Prince called above the boys asking continuous questions. "Looky heah, and listen up. We are in a... kinda war with Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Kids... do me a favah for a while, and try ta stay in Queens, or in Manhattan, okay?" The kids didn't seem to have a problem with this, and started to dicuss just what this would mean for all the newsies. Prince however sighed, and sat back down on the couch putting her head in her hands. Now she had Sparks mad at her, and she didn't figure Flan was too happy. She sat quietly as she stared at the floor, and the kids in the lodging house started to sit on the floor, and in chairs as their conversation continued.

"OK. Prince dat didn't answer anything. What are we at war with Brooklyn and da Bronx? What did they do or what are dey accusin' us of doin'?" Dazzle knew this could be the only explaination. Dazzle looked at Prince then said, "Nevah mind tell me latah."
As Dazzle walked to the door she looked at the mess in the lodging house and felt bad for Prince. Nothing she could do and went out the door.

A hand gently touched Prince's shoulder, almost as if its owner couldn't decide whether or not doing this was such a good idea. "Look, it isn't your fault.." Blaize said softly, "I might not have been here long, but i know a misunderstanding when i see one....And i know when someone is blaming themselves. Dont let it get you too down, all right?" Taking his hand back he stuck it in his pocket and, after a seconds hesitation, followed the others who had already left.

Prince listened to Blaize, and tried hard not to blame herself. She thought quietly for a second, and pulled herself together. It's not like she could sit around and do nothing. She was out of herself, and she had to get back to normal. She stood up, re-hid her hair under her hat, and got back to normal. "Boys, if anyone else comes in you 'splain ta them what happend. I think I oughta go have a talk wit' Jack," she said. She walked briskly for the door, and following everyone else to outside, but she walked towards Manhattan to go and have a word with Jack.

Jockey stared after Prince. She may be new here, but she wasn't going to let Prince take the hits for all of them. With so few older kids in the place, the few that were there had to be strong. Unfair as this war may be, she wasn't going to just watch it happened. If she had to throw some punches, she would and with great pleasure. No one threatened her home and got away with it.
She glanced at Blaize and sized him up. Why was everyone getting on his case about being a Brit? She had met many Brits in her life time, and most of them were swell people. He looked like a strong ally for their side.
She flopped down onto one of the couches and made herself comfortable. It was gonna be a long night.

Sam, who had been standing in a corner and keeping out of sight, let out a low whistle and sat down on an empty chair. "Wha' a mess."

"No kiddin'. I hate da thought that we's fightin' wit da othahs. I's got friends in each o' da othah boroughs. I jist don't want dis ta end badly wit each side wishin' dey'd did things differently. I mean, what if someone else gets killed?" Death was something Jockey hated to think about.

Sam shrugged. She wasn't a fan of fighting. "I dunno. Ise guess we jus' hope an' pray tha' it don't get any worse."

Tip Off burst through the doors, out of breath. "I gotta message!" he shouted, though he didn't need to. Everyone knew that if they saw this kid, there was some kind of news. "Wheahs Prince?"
