Golly had just gotten off for the evening. He had been working in Brooklyn which always proved to be exhausting. He entered the pub which he had frequented since he was a teenager, and collapsed into a chair. He quickly ordered a beer and tossed his copper hat on the table - he could just feel people staring at his uniform...

Gamble noticed the cop at the bar and gave him a weird look. She quickly downed the rest of her drink and ordered another one before digging a cigarette out of her pocket and sticking it in her mouth. She swiped the match against the bottom of her shoe and lit the cigarette, taking a long drag after it was lit. Gamble knew she shouldn't talk to the bulls.. She knows that's just asking for trouble. But, Gamble couldn't help herself.
"What's a bull doin' here? Dontcha got some innocent kid to maim?" She asked with mock seriousness.

Golly sighed and took a long drink from his glass before responding. He turned his head and looked at the teenage girl hard. He couldnt help but feel sorry and disgusted at the same time - she was young, drinking, smoking, and being rude - not quite what people wanted their daughters to be, but thats what happens on the streets, he knew all too well.
He wanted to keep a low profile so he chose to not over react to the comment. "Jus' gettin' a beer - somethin' I dont think you should be doing." He said and looked away and took another drink. "Ya better watch who yer saying that to, miss." He called back to her inbetween drinks.

Gamble smirked before taking another drag off her cigarette, exhaling it through her nose.
"And oddly, it doesn't bother me about what you think." She responded and leaned backwards, kicking her feet up onto the table. She didn't even know why she was harrassing the cop. She must've been really bored to start harrassing someone who could throw her in jail.
"Why? You gonna arrest me for asking a question?" She asked and rolled her eyes.

Spot looked around for an open table and spotted a fellow Brooklyn newsies give the local cop hell. "Atta goil" he muddered under his breath. He apporached them, "Whats this I hea'h about an arrest?"

Gamble shrugged and flicked her ashes on the ground.
"Nutten you need to worry about." Gamble stated, looking at spot. "Just havin' a nice chat with this 'ere cop." She motioned to Golly and took a sip of the drink the waitress just sat down.

Golly flared his nostrils, Great, now theres two of 'em he thought. He finished off his glass and turn around again to face them. "I ain't 'ere to arrest anyone so why are you two tryin' to start something, huh?" He was exhausted the last thing he needed was to be hastled by two punk teenagers.
He recognized both of them but didnt have a name to either one - not like it mattered, half the street kids had aliases of one form or another. He saw so many kids casuing problems that he may have even booked one of them in the past, but who knew that was an everyday occurance.

"Who said we was tryin' to start somethin'?" She said, arching an eyebrow. Okay.. Maybe she was. But, she couldn't help it. It was highly amusing to her.
"I'se was just sittin' here, enjoyin' my beer and you came in. I think you'se the one tryin' to start something." She accused.

Spot arched on eyebrow, looking very troublesome "Is dat so Gamble? An upstandin' citizen such as yourself tryin to start summin wit a poor innocent goil like hoir?" He asked Golly, snorting when he came to the word innocent. He too enjoyed givin the local cops trouble.

Gamble. That was her alias anyways.
"Innocent is hardly the word, and I do belive you initiated the conversation, Lass."
Golly tried his best to stay calm and started to chant in his mind they're only kids...they want you to get mad. He grabbed his hat and pulled it snuggly on his head, it made him feel more offical.
"Your treading on thin ice, kids" He warned. He really did not want to cause a scene or get anyone in trouble - the day was too long already. He clenched his jaw and grabbed the arm of his chair - he felt the blood rising in his veins.

"All I did was ask ya a question. Then you started gettin' all touchy." She said and shrugged. "And I ain't a kid. I'se 16 years old thankyouverymuch. Most girls my age are already married with kids."
Gamble set her cigarette down on the ashtray and crossed her arms. He really seemed to be getting mad. Gamble started to wonder if he'd actually arrest them. She wasn't in the mood to run.

Sensing that the situation could get serious, Spot decided to back down a bit, "Oh Golly gee-whiz, lemme buy ya a drink, whatcha drinkin?"

Golly let out an exasperated breath. These teenagers were too much. "Maybe ya should think o what type of questions yer askin' " He shot back at Gamble before looking back at Spot.
"And its McLean to you, lad" He corrected not amused by the play with his name. The kid must have recognized him to use his first name, but then again he did grow up in Brooklyn. He looked over the over-confidant boy. He had a lot of guts for being so young, but that’s what the streets did to the city's youth. "What are ya, 14? I hardly think ya should be buying me a drink..." He scoffed a bit releasing his grip from the chair arm.

"But i can." A new voice said from behind him, "Come on, Ofiicer, drink a bit with us." What, did Brooklyn kids just pop out of the woodwork? Obviously they did. Slipping around him, Red placed a hand on Spot and Gamble's shoulders. "I was walkin by and couldn't help but notice what was going on. Anything i can help with?" He raised his eyebrow a bit. He knew what was going on- how could he not? Being the ex-leader said more than anything these days. He knew the ropes and he knew when and where to cross them. He also knew when it was too much. Flipping a coin in the air, he grinned, "So, what is it, McLean?" ((i was bored- so i invited myself on over. ^^ )
