[[New day]]
Pocket sighed in slight annoyance as she dropped herself onto the docks, swinging her legs over the edge. She pulled her cap off, her curls tumbling down her back, and wipped her forehead with the arm of her shirt. She loosely stuffed her thick curls back into her cap as she put it back on her head, making sure it made her look like a boy again, and sighed.
She pulled out the pakc of cigarettes she'd snitched from a wealthy-looking guy in Manhattan and lit one up, inhaling the smoke deeply. It was a nasty habit of hers but it seemed to take the stress and guilt away from pickpocketing.

{new Day}
Nick headed down the docks pulling a cigarette from his pocket and lighting it. Taking a long drag from it and letting it out in short puffs to make little mini clouds. He stopped at the end of the docks and looked out oveer the water. Placing a hand in one of his pockets he took another drag from his cigarette, his mind wandering.

8chips sighed, and thew the last of the stale bread into the water she watched the fish gobble it down, one floated to the top. "It's sad, how fish will kill each other for nothing more than bits of stale bread." she hadn't meant to say it aloud, she hadn't really noticed to boy at all really.

Nick was pulled out f hs thoughts as a girl came onto the dock saying something about fish and killing each other. He raised his brows and looked over the side. "Killin' each other? What the hell are you talking about?"he looked at her as if she had a screw loose or something.

"Oh sorry, I didn't see you" She stepped back nearly falling into the water. "The fish, I mean, I was just feeding then" She said shaking her head trying to get her self straight.

((New Day))
Smokey leaned again a wooden post, her cigarette hanging loosely between her lips. The setting sun was causing her to squint and the soft wind blew her hair sideways. She looked out at the water longingly.
When she was younger her father would take her our here fish. She wasn't very fond of fishing and neither of them were very good at it, but it was one of the few times they got to spend alone without her father's job getting in the way. She sighed, hoping things would soon blow over in Manhattan so that she might be able to see him again.
Suddenly a strong wind came and blew the cigarette right out of her mouth. Smokey cursed, throwing her head back. That was her last one.

A hand reached out, offering a cigarette grasped lightly between two fingers. Smalls had been observing the stranger for a while, and took the opportunity to find out more about her.

Smokey followed the person arm up to their face and then looked back down at the cigarette.
"Thanks," she said taking and lighting it.

Smokey took a puff from her cigarette then slowly blew the smoke from her mouth . "Lived here most my life." She shrugged. "'s a big cit...place, though."
Smokey still hadn't gotten use to Brooklyn being switched into a borough from a city. She didn't really carry the 'Brooklyn Pride' that a lot of others who lived there did. It was just hard for her to break the habit of saying 'the city of Brooklyn'.
She looked over at the girl, sizing her up a bit. "Smokey," she said after a second, through her smoke, introducing herself.

Smalls took a long drag, glancing over at the girl. "You lived heah that long, you gotta know how the newsies feel 'bout the docks." She smirked at her, taking another puff of her cigarette. "You lookin' for a fight or somethin'?"

Smokey shrugged, shaking her head. "No, I don't know any newsies, personally anyway." She pushed herself off the wooden post, looking at the cigarette in her hands, speaking casually. "But what I do know is they don't own nothin' 'round heah, includin' the docks."
She wasn't looking for a fight. In fact she never was and never did unless it was something really worth fighting over. Such menial things didn't concern her much.

Smalls nodded, blowing out a puff of smoke. "They may not own the docks, I'm jist sayin' they don' think twice 'bout decidin' who is or aint welcome." She wasn't looking to start anything with this girl, just thought she should be aware. finally turning her head to get a better look at the girl she flicked her cigarette butt into the water and held out a hand. "Name's Smalls."

Smokes looked out into the open for a moment before nodding. "Understood."
The newsies had their world and she wasn't part of it. Still, she knew how things worked and didn't think too much about it. Smoking what was left of her cigarette, then throwing it to then tossing it to the ground, she blew out the smoke from her mouth and shook the girl's hand.
