Mercy could try but Lucky could take her punches as well as she got, her brow lifted and she grunted at her ignorance. Who the hell was this kid? Sighing she folded her arms and looked at the girl. "Don't matter a god damn to me if you've been sleepin on an ice flow.." she glared at the girl before she brushed off her arms and grumbled. Stupid kid, she already hurt like crazy.
"I ain't a feckin' newsie either... if your lookin to sleep here you had better have some guts or your gonna be tossed out on your ear so fast your head won't catch up for a week.."

Mercy just nodded, and walked through the front door of the Brooklyn Lodging House, not saying another word to Lucky.

>>>New DAY other post continued<<< Joe didnt shift her weight once as he walked from queens to Brooklyn. He knew from the grip she had on him that one jostle would put her out cold. The color had leaked from her face. He knew how to carry things and move without disturbing a single thing. He eyed the lodging...it seemed like he hadnt been here in forever. Hell he wasnt sure he had a place here anymore .Pushing his way in he carried her to the bunks and laid her down on the one he occupied when he stayed there. Everything was the same yet not.
"You know you've always wanted to be in my bed love, enjoy it while you can...you bleed on it and youah out." He winked at her.

She snorted a bit and then coughed, her head throbbing as he lowered her down onto the bed. "Can't help it if I bleed on it... 'sides you bleed on it enough for both of us.." she was such a gruff person at her best times. Eyes sliding closed she knew no one was around so she reached out and took a hold of his shirt.
"You takin off again?" he did often, it was rare when Birdie asked. She never asked, she found out or she was telling. But when it came to Joe, and with her in her state, she wasn't in the position to find out more.

Joe looked down at where she gripped his shirt. He knew she hated when she had to ask the source and his lip twitched.
"Not at the moment. People dont wake from concussions you know love. Gotta keep that loud mouth of yours movin for the time bein. Not da hardest job." he sat on the floor and leaned his back against the bed post as he lit a cigarette and took a drag. It burned and he embraced it. Not making her let go of him.

She had to think about that, "So how do we know when I can go to sleep?" she wanted to now, she was so tired and exhausted. But she was home in Brooklyn now. She NEEDED to be home in Brooklyn, she kind of wishes Spot wasn't off playing hero. Because she needed him too.

"When i say its ok...when spot gets back..." He knew that look in her eyes and he knew right now he wasnt enough. He wanted to go out and drag their great leader back here. But he knew that would be pointless and break lines that are already tense if they havent been broken already. He hadnt been there. "...so tell me what have those birds been whistlin in yoah ears as of late?" He said as he took another drag to get the thoughts out of his head. They didnt have a place there right now. Later.

She had a hold of his shirt and her eyes closed slowly, "Kid from the Bronx died at the battle, little kid.. in Zeke's arms.. saw it myself before I got gacked in the head with a riffle.. stabbed the guy in the face with my lock pick... the birdies... ain't talkin to me right now. No one is really back yet, though heard some gossip round. Dodger and Lexi are an item now.. at the meetin'..." He was enough for some things, Spot was her oldest friend. Which made things very different. He was like a brother, Joe was something else all together.

"Keep those beauties open foah me love." He nudged her. They were all going to come back battle scarred and many of them didnt need to be more so. He uncurled his fist "Bout time foah those two...that sweetness about made me puke." Joe spoke not really trying to say anything, he just wanted to keep her talking and that meant talking more than he usually did. He wasnt one for words unless they were to flirt or of importance. "Atleast somethin came in all of this shit." he took a drag and blew it out his nostrils.

"Awww you missed me," she said, her voice rather slurred as she opened her eyes for a moment before they closed again. A smirk on her face. "Yeah you don't mean half the shit you say to no one do you Joe?" at least she was honest, and she knew he rarely was. Birdie never lied, she omitted but never lied.

Joe's brow creased as she slurred her words. "If ya close youah eyes again i'm gonna make you walk the bunk room...hows dat foah meaning what i say?" He knew he wasnt the most honest, and it bugged him that right now he wished he were. It wasnt in him anymore. He meant what he said to those he trust and that was it. "I have my moments" he consented.

She moved her head a bit and she set it on his shoulder, it was still bleeding threw the bandanna and his hat had fallen off her head and onto the pillow. There were not many people she would be readily familiar with but when she wasn't exactly solvent, she was glad it was Joe there. "You ain't very honest about nothin'.. Biggest difference between us sides the fact I ain't six feet somethin and growlin at everyone.."

Joe looked her in the eyes. "I'm honest about what mattahs...If i can handle it myself den i will. Its my game befoah anyone elses. I cant change who ise am Soph. Dont go lookin in me foah a guy that isnt theah anymoah." he gently began to unwind the handkerchief that wasnt doing much good anymore. "Sides you'd look pretty ridiculous bein six feet..."

She smirked and watched him quietly, "Who says he's gone eh? You? Your a fibber remember?" Her eyes were hazy but she was trying to stay awake, though she was drifting in and out of consciousness. "You were a good man once upon a time, Joe. It ain't changed no matter what has for you. Still in there, or you wouldn't have come lookin' for me...."

Joe looked at her raising his eyebrow at the use of fibber, his lip twitched. "I was nevah a good man love. I dont know who ya mistaken me with but i'd like ta meet da bloke."
"Sides Spot woulda killed me if i hadnt."Joe shrugged. In all honesty he was the only one that had never been nor will ever be scared of the Brooklyn leader. "Apparently im not enough of a boirdie foah him...
