Fighter smirked slightly at Joe's comment but before she could she heard Zeke's voice and felt an arm fall around her shoulder. "He's right Joe, I think more woman like you in your head than in your life." A wide grin on her face, Fighter took a drag of her cigarette. She was very happy the boys had come along and taken her mind off her worries. With that thought in mind, Fighter pulled the old flask out of her pocket that she'd been drinking with and took a long gulp before holding it out for one of them.

Joe smirked at Zeke's arrival and clasped hands with the man before punching him lightly in the side of the face.
Be still me poor beatin heart
"You have a heart? now dats news." He smirked before stealing Fighters flask and taking a swig.
He's right Joe, I think more woman like you in your head than in your life.
" Dats not what ya said last night." Joe winked at Zeke knowing he'd probably get hit for the comment regardless he took another swig and struck up a cigarette.

Fighters smirk quickly changed into a scowl and she pulled out from beneath Zeke's arm to walk forward and punch Joe in the face. Most of the time Joe's comments rolled off her like water but for some reason this one stuck. Grabbing the flask back from Joe, the frown never left her face. "You wish, Joe." Turning her back on them both she began the trek back towards Brooklyn.

Joe brow furrowed. Shit something was wrong with fighter and he hadnt picked up on it. He didnt miss picking up on things often. Hell he apologized more often than he missed stuff. And that wasnt often. Glancing at Zeke he nodded that maybe he could give them a minute.
"Fight," Joe said walking behind her. "Love, I'm sorry." He didnt apologize often, hell ever. Then again he didnt care about a lot of people but Fight had a place in his heart right next to Lucks and Palmer. With his eyes he asked her to tell him what was wrong, with his hand on her shoulder he stopped her. He was more than ready to get pounded to a pulp if it made her smile again. A real smile one that went to her eyes. Instead he did what maybe she wasnt ready for or would even let him do. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her.

Zeke was about to hit him when Fighter did it and it puzzled him, he'd-- never seen her like that before. On a sigh he set his hand on the top of her head and said nothing more. It was true that he was a hell of a dog, but he was always good to Fighter. If she gave him the time of the day well-- who knows. He didn't say anything, willing to let her tell Joe what kind of spot he'd hit.

Fighters shoulders drooped when Joe hugged her. Why had she let her emotions get the better of her? She knew Joe didn't mean anything by what he had said, it just reminded her too much fo the way Scar used to talk to her in front of his friends. It didn't just satisfy him to degrade her in private he would do it over and over again in front of other people. She thought she'd been over this, but apparently that wasn't so. "Eh, it's fine Joe. Guess I'm just a little moody tonight."
Fight wasn't willing to share the truth, she'd never told anyone what happened between her and Scar. She couldn't because she couldn't face how weak he'd made her feel, how trapped. She'd gotten out and he couldn't hurt her anymore so there really was no reason to continue to let the past bother her like it did.

Joe recognized the slump in her shoulders. His jaw clenched and throbbed as he held her as his anger simmered deep and hot inside of him. The next time he saw Scar would be the last anyone saw of him. Joe knew the action would be too late, it was in the past, but it'd make him feel better nonetheless. Letting go of Fighter he hid his desire for murder.
"Love, youah always in a mood." his lip twitched up in a strained smile while he took a drag of his cigarette as he turned back to Zeke and let her get a grip on her facial expression. It was one of desolate hopelessness. It had no place on her face. He took a drag and let it coil in his chest, a dangerous, slow burn just like the glint in his eye.
"Fight anyone worth fightin?" He asked him.

((NEW DAY)) - for Piper
It was early, and Gulliver hated being up early. He was far from home, that much was true, but he'd spent the night at the Brookylnn lodging house and was finally heading back over to Manhatten, then to Queens. He'd probably miss alot of selling time, but he'd had a fun night. A few Brooklynn boys had invited him over for a few beers and some cards. Cully rubbed his head, regretting the drink, but not the company.
As he walked he looked down at the water, smiling to himself. There weren't many people out and as he neared the end of the bridge he sat for a minute, eyeing the sun as it rose...

Piper liked walking on the Brooklyn Bridge, but this was new to walk on it in the early morning. She liked the cold weather before the sun would come out, it made her wake up a little bit more. Pushed her hair out of her eyes she walked along the bridge and looked out on the water.

In the early morning air, Gulliver felt a little more bold than he would have regularly. So when the petite red head showed up, he half smiled ot himself and turned, facing her in the rising sunlight. Gully wasn't much for small talk, so people sometimes thought he was stupid, but really he just didn't like talking about the weather, or anything silly like that. He neared her, nodding towards the sunrise.
"Pretty huh?" he asked.
He hadn't seen this girl around, but he guessed she was a Newsie, from the way she carried herself. That wasn't a bad thing eather, girl Newsies were usually much less annoying than the rich girls or the factory workers. No manners to muddle through.
"My named Gulliver by the way," he tipped his hat, "Pleased, I'm sure."

"Pretty huh?" Piper turned and heard a voice coming from a boy around her age, maybe older who was standing next to her on the bridge. He had a nice face on him with blond hair that was hidden under a cap. He looked harmless as he introduced himself.
"Piper, pleasure's all mine." She replied in her scottish accent.

"Piper, pleasure's all mine."
He chuckled a little and leaned over the bridge a little, looking back at the pretty girl. She was pretty enough, and Gully wasn't blind. Normally he stammered and muttered all over the place, but it was easier to be suave in the early morning glow.
"Scotty eh?"
Gully smiled.
"I'm a Frenchman myself." he joked "We Europeans, we gotta stick together."
He looked around, waving at the skyline.
"You live round here Piper?"

"Scotty eh?" Piper cocked her eyebrow and smirked as she looked back out at the river. She liked the boy already, he instantly knew how to talk to a girl and not at all after her, unlike some of the male population in New York
"You live round here Piper?" Piper looked back at the boy and pointed her pale slender finger towards Manhattan from where they are.
"I'm from 'Hattan, thought it's a wee bit of a walk to get here I don't mind it at all." Piper replied back to him, "You?

"I'm from 'Hattan, thought it's a wee bit of a walk to get here I don't mind it at all."
"Dats good." he joked "Most of the prissy girls can't stand walking, but I can tell your made of finer stuff."
He winked and kicked a little pebble with his shoe.
"You?
"Me?" he asked innocently "Well I'm from Queens, but I spent the night over in Brooklynn, thanks to some kindly Newsie friends I've got round there."
Gulliver never understood why everybody was so scared of Brooklynn. With Spot around, it was one of the safest places to be.

PIper smirked from his remark of her being made of finer stuff. Sure it was a typical move for a boy, but Piper knew he was a innocent one. She nodded as she heard he was from Queens, another fine establishment for a Newsie to live at.
"Brooklyn's a fine town to be at during the night, as long as you know where to turn and when to keep your head down. Have you met Spot yet?" Piper asked him in curiosity.
