"Down along the harbor in Manhattan there all these shops," David said, after thinking for a moment and considering the question. "When I was little, momma used to take me down there and let me sit outside the shops and watch the water and the people bustle by. Now it can be a great place to sell papes but sometimes I still walk down to stare out over the water and watch the people." He smiled when he realized that he hadn't ever told anyone about that, the harbor shops were where he went when he wanted to clear his mind and think, he'd never felt the need to share.
"Where are we going for ice cream?" He asked after a lull in conversation where he felt his mind beginning to wander again.

Fighter smiled as he talked about his favorite place in Manhattan and the reasons why. "It sounds nice..." She trailed off her mind turning to other things once more. Pushing her hair back she glanced over and bit her lip before his question snapped her out of her reverie.
"There's this nice shop not to far from the lodging house. They have chocolate and they put nuts in it. It's delicious." Fighter smiled and turned towards the left. They weren't too far from the lodging house now.

"I'll show you sometime," He said, his voice pitched low for only her ears because he didn't want to risk anyone else overhearing. The thought of taking her down by the harbor and showing her the shops and the place where he liked to go when he had time to himself made him smile over at her.
"Sounds fantastic," David said a little louder in reply to her answer, and because it was the truth. He honestly had a little bit of a weakness for sweets, sometimes using Les as an excuse to indulge when he had a hankering and what she described had sent his mouth to watering. He followed her over to the left, being familiar enough with Brooklyn to know they were close to the lodging house.

"I'd like that," Fighter replied and sent him a small smile before raising her head to keep an eye on her surroundings and to see if she saw anyone from the lodging house. She was so pleased that he wanted to show her somewhere close to him. It showed that he must be feeling the same thing she was.
"Oh, it is." It was her favorite place to go when she had the money to spend on icecream. Unfortunately it wasn't very often but it was more often since she discovered her love for their chocolate icecream with peanuts. As they approached the house she hoped Gwennie was near the entry so that she wouldn't have to wonder through looking for her.

He saw her looking around and knew he'd taken a bit of a risk saying anything here and now but it was worth it when he saw the little smile she sent in his direction. It was amazing how much could change in such a short amount of time; two weeks ago David barely even knew who Fighter was and now...now he couldn't wait for the next moment that he got to spend with her because each one made him feel special and different and wonderful in ways he wasn't sure he could describe.
He saw the lodging house looming just a little ways up the street and knew he'd wait at the gate while she went in to get Gwennie. David knew how it worked, he wasn't necessarily going to be welcome on Brooklyn turf, no matter his reasons, and it was best to play it low key and let Fighter take the lead.

[New Day]
The sun was just barely above the horizon it seemed, the autumn morning air still crisp with the cool of night as Daisy walked along the bridge towards Manhattan, enjoying the stillness that seemed to cover the city in these few brief moments just after dawn when the world was just beginning to wake up. Daisy would have normally still been tucked inside her apartment over on King's Highway, but she'd wanted to run a few errands this morning before heading into work that afternoon. Besides, the fresh air and cheerful early morning sun did her good as she found herself smiling into the light.
She hoped there was still fresh fruit at the vendor and maybe some vegetables too, perhaps she could simmer up some soup to take over to Jerry's later should she find the time. And perhaps she'd stop by and pick up a bouquet of flowers a well, a little fresh color to brighten up her apartment and spread some of the cheer she felt in her heart. Her ever present basket was tucked carefully under her arm, and she found herself humming as she paused a moment to gaze out over the water, the wavy reflection of the morning sky winking back at her.
