"Great job!" she said, smiling, ruffling his hair gently again. "You're a natural." It made her feel good to teach the kid something he could do on a rainy day. And, of couse, to share something that meant something to her. "Now what can you do? Or are you bored? If you're bored we can stop." She looked at him questioningly.

Melody grinned and shrugged. "I don't know. We can do whatevere you want." Finishing his pizza, he took a drink of milk, and was almost done with that too.

"It doesn't matter." She glanced down at the unfinished game and saw some plays. She finished them quickly, sipping her water as she played. She stopped herself before she could lock the boy from her mind -- that would be incredibly rude. She finished her pizza too, crumpling the sheet of waxed paper it came on. Silently, she glanced at the boy waited for him to make a decision. She really had nothing to do, but she should perhaps scope out a selling place for her paintings.

As Melody watched her, his eyes widened with facsination. "Your really good." Grinning up at her, he finished his milk and licked his lips. "Well, since we are done with the game, we could take a walk or talk?" He shrugged.

"Thanks," she said, replying to what he said about her playing, "I've been playing for a long time now." She decided that taking a walk wouldn't be that bad -- it was nice out, at least, and fresh air never killed anyone. "Sure, we could walk or talk or maybe even do both."

Jumping off the bench, he said with a grin, "Ok. That would be better." Waiting for her to stand up and gather his things, he spiked up his hair a little bit with his hands...as if his hair wasn't spiky ennough.

She stood up and took her cards, stuffing them into their pack. She swept up her skirts, took the balled up piece of paper and threw that out. She headed towards the door, hoping to be followed by Melody.

As she walked towards the door, Melody followed her silently. Grinning, Melody started humming his song he made.

((where to now?))
She opened the door and headed out into the crowded streets. She heard him humming and liked the sound of it.

[[New Day]]
Roulette pushed open the door to the pizza parlour and held it open for Tumbler. She nodded toward the booths, letting the boy know that he could choose where they sat.
Once they were seated and Rou had ordered a cheese pizza and drinks, she looked at her companion.
"So, how long have you been in New York? Were you born here?"

Tumbler scratched his head slightly, looking at Roulette, her face was a creamy white, pale and pretty, while his was a tan. He wondered where she was born. New York held people of all backgrounds, that you couldn't ever quite know if somebody was born in the country or in Scandinavia or Sweden or some other country with a big name.
"Three years I thinks I was six when I got here, my family came from Italy. I was born there, but we went on a ship, a rocking awful ship. It was hard, and the baby wouldn't stop crying. I was worried about Mama, that she was too tired from taking care of the baby, it helped that we had my sister to help, Mariella. I remember seeing the big statue and finally seeing land in the distance and Mama whispering, "We made it, we made it." We went to a big place with lots of other people, something Island Mariella called it, I can't remember. We had to be checked over, I guess to see if we didn't carry disease, and finally Mama said they would let us into the city. She told me to hold her hand, not let go. I held her hand but Mama was moving too fast, I dropped my pictha a' papa and I had to get it, I let go, thinking it would only take a second to pick it up, but when I looked up... M-Mama was gone, and I called and called for her, but I couldn't f-find her..."
Tumbler had never told his story to anybody, it was actually very hard for him to remember all that, but he did, he looked up at Roulette, with tear filled eyes. He didn't mean to cry, but he remembered how scared he was, looking up into the unkind faces of strangers, none of them his family.

((new day for Matchstick))
Piper walked in ready to have some pizza. It always warmed her up and made he happy when she had the good treat. She pushed some of her hair out of her eyes as she fished out her money from her backpocket.

Matchstick walks into the wonderful smelling pizza parlor just because the restaurant looked interesting enough to walk into. A red lock of hair caught his eye so he half skipped half walked over to where the girl was standing. Chewing on a matchstick he decided to talk to the girl. Trying to play it cool as usual he said "Hello, you from 'round here?"
