Shortstack gave gave a smile as she scoffed. "Fun? Barely know the word. Back in the day I used to play marbles and gamble with the fellas and that stuff, and once in a while I used to catch a vaudeville show. That was ages ago. What about you?"

Shamrock pulled his shooter out of his pocket and grinned, "Oi just recently learned how to shoot marbles. Oi love it." He held it up in front of Shortstack, to show her his prized possession.

Shortstack gazed at the marble in awe. "Oh yeah, that's a nice one. You any good?"

Shamrock smirked, "Well, the first time Oi played Oi won three quarters of Tumbler's marbles... But Oi gave them all back to him, cause he was just teachin' me. He gave me this shooter to keep and practice with, in exchange..."
Shamrock stared out at the water, thinking back to all the times he had been lucky... He remembered his first time selling papes and being able to sell all of them in hardly any time, the many times he had found money on the ground, and the time he had fallen off a fire escape and had been able to walk away without a single broken bone or scrape. Sometimes being lucky had it's advantages but more often than not, it caused a lot of trouble for Shamrock. People always thought he cheated in games, they got mad at him for being good at stuff, people were always trying to get him to place bets for them or used him to help them to win something, and sometimes it just plain old creeped people out. A lot of the time it was a burden.
Shamrock shrugged his shoulders and gave Shortstack a crooked smile, "Oi don't know if you'd necessarily call it being a good player though. They don't call me Shamrock just cause Oi'm from Ireland..." He picked up another stone and tossed it forcefully into the water.

Shamrock looked up at Shortstack and chuckled, "I'd love to but I don't think that's how it works."
Shamrock took his hat off his head and set it on the ground. He leaned forward, dipped his hand in the river scooping up a bit a water, rubbed the back of his neck, and then ran his fingers through his hair, pushing the strands in the front back, hoping to cool himself down from the beating sun.

Shortstack watched Shamrock cool himself off. She took off her cap to follow suit, then quickly replaced it as the blinding sun hit her corneas. "God, it's hot. If I wanted this kind of weather, I'd move west!"

Shamrock placed his hat back on his head, "God, Oi know. This place has hot summers and freezing cold winters... What Oi wouldn't give to be able to go for a nice, long, cool swim..."

Shortstack picked up a rock and lazily threw it into the water, surprised that it actually skipped. "I could go for a blizzard right about now. How am I supposed to sell papes when it's too hot to even blink?"

Shamrock watched the rock Shortstack threw, skipped along the surface of the water a couple times before stopping and sinking to the bottom. He picked up a rock of his own and tried to do the same, unsuccessfully. "Well, you could always go for a swim. That always seem to cool me down, when it's terribly hot out."

Shortstack removed her cap and walked toward the water, splashing the cool water on her face. She squnted as the sunlight reflected from the water into her eyes. "If only it wasn't so bright," she remarked.

"If only it wasn't so bright,"
Shamrock chuckled to himself, "Girls... Never good enough. Always gotta be something..." He looked at Shortstack and shook his head.
Shamrock toed off his shoes and sat down on the ground and removed his socks. Then, he stood up and removed his shirt and hat. He gave Shortstack one last smirk and leaving his shorts on, jumped into the cool, refreshing water.

Shortstack was taken aback. A quick flash of anger crossed her face as she threw har cap on the ground and untied her shoes, muttering to herself. Tossing her boots and socks aside she dove into the water.
