When Shamrock resurfaced, he turned towards Shortstack and sniggered, watching her throw her cap and shoes on the ground in response to his teasing. He watched smugly as she dove in the water. Before she resurfaced, he dunked himself back under the water and did a quick somersault, then resurfaced.
"Feels great, don't it?" he asked with a smirk on his face. "Even though it is bright."

After resurfacing, Shortstack took a deep breath and sank down into the water, attempting to stay under as long as possible. After about forty seconds she began to slowly rise to the surface again. "I gotta admit, kid. This was a pretty good idea."

Shamrock grinned smugly, "Of course it was." He dunked his head under the water, resurfaced, and smoothed back his hair. After a long, sweaty day the water felt great; he just hoped Pallet and Byron never found out he went out alone or they would skin him alive.

Shortstack floated on her back, closing her eyes to the blinding sun. "So whaddya do with yourself, Shamrock?" she asked while embracing the peaceful moment, "Do you sell papes or what...?

Not far from where the Children were conversing a shadow crossed the trees, Marlon was waiting. He light is match on the back of a tree and lit the match, causing the light of the smoke the only light in the shaded area where he was standing. He turned and looked as he heard some noise, shaking out the match.
"You're late." Late always made him angry

"Hey," the man held up his hands and smirked at the officer, this man was king. "Sorry, I apologize. The shipment is being sent out as planned. There were not accidents.." Not really, aside one single girl escaping but he wasn't going to tell Mr. Delancey that. He'd be in more trouble, not only that but his face still hurt from that little bitch in Brooklyn.
"No problems."

He nodded his head and smirked, taking a drag from his smoke. "Good. Good man." He had an idea there were a few hiccups but nothing that could not be handled. He finally had all of New York right in the palm of his hand. And nothing was going to ruin it.
Nodding for Clyde to follow they left the River. Vanishing in the dark.

"Yeah, Oi sell papes." Shamrock replied splashing some water on his face.
He had been watching Shortstack float around on top of the water, when out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of something. Motioning to Shortstack to stay still and quiet, he glanced toward one of the trees that provided shade to the river. From behind one of the trees, he was able to pick up a shadow holding something, in what could've been his hand, that gave off an amber glow --like a match or cigarette-- and then the shadow disappeared. His heart began racing, realizing that he and Shortstack may be in danger.
Shamrock made his way over closer to Shortstack, scanning the area around him. "I think we need to leave... Now..." he whispered to her, his voice filled with worry. "We need to get out of the water, grab our clothes, and quickly make our way back to our lodging houses. Somebody was hiding in the shadows behind that tree over there." He grabbed hold of Shortstack's hand and lead her to the bank of the river. He took a quick look around, lifted himself up onto the shore, and quickly threw his sock and shoes back on.

Shortstack was confused as she put on her socks and boots. "What's the matter? If someone's hidin' it's not our problem is it?" She grabbed her cap and walked over to Shamrock. "Was it the bulls or somethin'? What did it look like?"

Shamrock quickly threw his shirt on and buttoned it up, "Oi think someone was watching us... Haven't you heard about all the kids turning up missing? We're not supposed to be out here alone." Shamrock took another quick look around before picking his hat up off the ground and placing it on his head. "It could've been nothing but Oi don't want to take that chance. It would kill me sister if anything happened to me."

Shortstack put on her cap on her head, clothes drenched from the swim. "I didn't know kids were going missing. Don't know many. Maybe we should check it out..." She put a had in her bag and felt around for her switchblade. She had won it at a game of marbles years ago, and although she had not yet cause to use it, she kept it around in case a situation called for it.

Shamrock bit on his lower lip nervously, "Well... Oi don't know if that's the best idea. Maybe we should just go home..." He looked towards the street then back at Shortstack, but against his better judgment, he followed her towards where he had seen the amber glow.

"It's probably nothin'," she said casually, "you don't have to come along if you're too scared." On the inside she was actually kind of excited; she always jumped on the opportunity for adventure. She began to walk toward the tree, Shamrock trailing behind her. "Which tree was it?"

Shamrock scowled, "Oi'm not scared." He moved forward trailing behind Shortstack, pointing at a large tree growing beside the riverbank. Shamrock swallowed nervously and thought to himself, Please luck, don't leave me now... Finally reaching the tree, he looked around and saw nothing. Then, glancing at the ground and catching sight of something, he bent down and picked it up. It looked to be a burnt match.

"I guess there was someone here," Shortstack resolved. "They must have left..." She looked around, seeing nothing but trees in the distance, the river behind them. "Where could they have gone?" she wondered allowed. "There's no place to go but through more trees. We should have seen them by the time we got here."
