Fighter was born in Philadelphia to Brogan and Connor Mallory. Her mother died during childbirth though so Fighter never had the opportunity to get to know her. Fighter’s father was a conman wanted by the police and he ended up running off when she six, leaving her in the care of her uncle Shawn Mallory. He took her to Brooklyn to live with him where he earned a living as a prize fighter. He was a firm believer in her knowing how to defend herself so he taught her to fight. Nearly every night they would head to the roof and work on perfecting the moves.

When she was twelve her uncle was stabbed and killed while leaving one of his fights. Shortly after he passed she started living on the streets and spent the next two years earning a living picking pockets and snagging food whenever possible. Then she met Aidan Bourke and fancied herself in love with him, but she didn’t realize exactly how unhinged he was. She was with him for nearly a year before she finally got up the nerve to leave. She ended up leaving the city for a few months. When she got back to New York, she found her to the Brooklyn Lodging House and made it her home.

At first she sold papers with most of her lodgers, but then she found a job as a barmaid at a local pub. When she isn’t working she spends a lot of her free time at the boxing ring in Manhattan or at McGinty’s Pub. She enjoys drinking and fighting and has gotten into more brawls then she cares to remember. Recently one of the younger lodgers, Gwennie, went missing. When the boroughs banded together to find their missing lodgers she did several things that she isn’t exactly proud of. It’s weighed heavily on her conscious lately and she’s taken to drinking and losing herself in an opium induced oblivion. The only time she doesn’t feel the need to forget is when she’s with Davey. They’ve been secretly dating for months now, but it’s only a matter of time before someone realizes.

Scar was born and bred in the heart of Brooklyn, when he was young his grandfather used to watch him now and again and teach him about the old days, when the Dead Rabbits ran Five Points. Scars own great grandda had been leader of the gang at one point and his grandfather had seen some memorable times with them when he was younger. His grandfather was a strict believer in the grace of the hand that fed you, which in laments terms to them meant that you followed the rules or the hand that fed you became the hand that beat you.

Although Scar had never been beaten by his grandfather, his own father had found plenty of reasons to teach him a lesson and his grandfather would simply tell him that it made you a better man. Scar is very proud of his roots, he holds his grandfather and great-grandfather up on a pedestal he just sees his own father as a drunk who lost his way a long time ago when he married Scars mother.

Scar's outlook on women isn't of the prettiest nature, he believes that they are below him and always will be. In his mind they are there only because they are a necessity when it comes to carrying on his name and satisfying his needs, possibly cooking him a meal if he decides to keep them around long enough for that. Once upon a time, Scar was a part of the Five Points Gang, but when they left him for dead he cut ties.

They ended up leaving New York shortly after that and Scar got a job working for another gang in the city. He also met Fighter Mallory shortly after they left. She learned the hard way exactly how abusive and twisted he could be. She left him but he still doesn't feel like she's quite out of her system yet. He has some things planned for her that he can't wait to put into action.

THE BRONX:[/b]

Lexi spent most of her life living in Jersey City with her younger brothers Reid and Perry Halliway. Their mother, Rosemary, died from pneumonia when Lexi was eleven years old. Although she spent the next few years under the care of her father, she took over most the responsibilities of the house. She cooked, cleaned, and took care of both of her brothers. Her father, Marshall, was a decent father but he was not what most would call a good civilian. He made a living conning others out of their money and he also had a habit of burglarizing homes. During a burglary gone wrong he was shot and killed.

When Lexi heard the news, she packed her brothers up and moved them into a local lodging house to keep the authorities from separating them and sending them to orphanages. They all earned money selling papers and settled into their surroundings. Things didn't stay pleasant in their lives forever though. Lexi had picked up some of her fathers more unseemly habits. She began to gamble heavily and although she was quite good at it, it brought her number of enemies as well. The men she'd played with weren't fond of her winning or of the fact that she would rub it in their faces. Needless to say, they decided to teach her a lesson one day. When she finally made it back to the lodging house she was bruised, bloodied, and barely breathing.

As she started healing, she realized that they needed to leave Jersey City. When she was up for traveling her and her brothers left Jersey City and headed for New York, ending up in the Bronx. She settled in there pretty easily, and starting changing the person she was. She didn't want to have to run and hide from people so she stopped gambling for the most part. She got a job as a waitress and became close with several of her fellow lodgers. She had been there for awhile when her brother went missing along with several other children within the city. Unlike many of the others, Perry, didn't survive and was killed several months ago. Although Lexi lost herself for awhile in her grief, she finally snapping out of it and beginning to heal. She's also started taking more time to fulfill her duties as co-leader.

Like his siblings, he was obviously born and raised in Jersey City and isn't used to New York life yet, but it isn't much different than Jersey. Reid was the one hit the hardest by his fathers death because they were incredibly close regardless of his fathers shady background. A lot of family friends say that Reid is just like his father but he will not resort to earning money the way his father did, it's simply not worth it. Reid isn't especially close with her sister since she tends to behave recklessly but he loves her none the less and would go to the ends of the earth for her, which is why he didn't care when she came home and told them that they needed to leave Jersey City at once.

She had afterall come home looking like she had never looked before, slightly crazy and bruised and broken. He had taken her to the doctor that used to be a friend of the family and they had stayed there for a few days but once she was well enough to travel they had taken what little they had and headed for New York. Upon arriving in New York City, Reid made fast friends with River and Emma. He actually enjoyed his time there until his brother went missing. Reid blamed himself and was practically killing himself with guilt when they found Perry dead. He recently took off with Rori and was gone for over a month, but he's come back a happier man.

Reid is incredibly quiet and is usually passed over as being shy as well but from time to time he is more open with others. He's very protective of his sister and would do anything for either of them. Although he teases his sister a little mercilessly sometimes he loves her more than anything and that's just the way he shows her. He took over the role of father after theirs was killed and tends to act more adult than even his older sister. He works as much as he can to keep things going for his family and is trying to earn extra money so that they can eventually get off of the streets.

River is a pretty easy going guy and he tends to get along with most people but he has no problem putting someone in there place either verbally or physically if he feels there's a need to. Most times he is a mediator between people who are about to come to blows. He likes to keep the peace at the house and that's probably why he stands at Dodgers right while Lefty stands at his left. River does tend to be full of himself at times but it's more in a joking manner than a serious one.

He has longish sandy hair that tends to fall in his eyes. He's actually been meaning to get it cut but he has a feeling that most of the ladies at the lodging house would sheer it all off. His eyes are a bright blue and stand out well against his deeply tanned skin. He's 6'4 and tends to tower over most newsies but he is as far from skinny as one could get. He actually looks like he'd eat half of New York if it was physically possible. He isn't huge, he's just packed on a ton of muscle over the past three or four years. River learned at a young age that in the end you had to be able to take care of yourself if you were going to survive in this city. Although he would die for his friends and he knew they would die for him he'd rather it not come to that.

Rivers best friends are Lefty and Dodger who has known for what seems like forever. He's got a enough enemies to fill a small fort but none of which are a threat to him or the others. He's only ever dated one girl seriously but he is friends with most of the Bronx girls and Brooklyn ones to boot. He was born and spent most of his life in Brooklyn before making the move the Bronx. Although he isn't on good terms with all of the Brooklyn newsies, he is with most of them.

Soothsayer was born James 'Jamie' O'Toole in County Cork, Ireland. He lost both of his mother and his father during the famine. Despite his pain he managed to take what money he could find and make his way across the ocean to the States. On the voyage he met and befriended Magician MacVee, the two kept contact for many years. When he was caught on the street for stealing he ended up in an orphanage where he met Thomas Jones and the two became inseparable. To this day, Soothsayer does most of the talking as far as the two go. Ask Calico a question and Jamie will answer it. The two found their way into the Queens lodging house and have been there ever since. Neither wanting to leave or thinking they had that option.

Not too long ago, Soothsayer ran into Smarty Jones and has been head over arse for her ever since. He refuses to take no for an answer and pursues her every chance he gets. He knows that eventually she'll crack and he'll be there waiting for her to say yes to going out with him. Although he lives in Queens and knows it gets a bad rep, he loves it there. It suits his personality perfect, though he's hardly a pansy like the other boroughs seem to think all Queens newsies are. He can handle himself just fine and gets into more then his fair share of brawls. For the most part though, Soothsayer is laid back and extremely friendly. Be careful getting into a conversation with him though, he really doesn't know when to shut up.

Derek was born in Galway, but his parents relocated them to the United States when he was barely a year old. They were born into money and his father was an excellent business man using his skills to double the money they had. As he got older they noticed something was different about him other then his intelligence. He would act out against his peers, often getting into fights and beating others kids unconscious. His father had lost count of how many people he'd had to pay off to keep his son out of a psych hospital, but eventually he felt that would be the best place for him.

Before he could finalize the paperwork though both he and his wife died in a mysterious accident and Derek came into control of all of his families assets. It wasn't long after that that he met Killian O'Donnell. Killian was trying to con him out of money but Derek was hardly fooled. They became fast friends, finding they had more in common then they thought. Killian introduced him to the gang and showed what an asset he would be to them. Since then he's been running with Five Points.

Derek is very withdrawn from the world around him. He was born to people who were extremely well off and they sought the best education they could for him. He always grasped the material very quickly and was far more advanced then his peers. Because of that he never quite fit in with the others and when his parents died in a 'freak accident' he inherited all of their money he withdrew from school and fell in with a less then savory crowd. Because of his wealth he enjoys the finer things in life, but he isn't flashy about it for obvious reasons.

He's essential to the group because of his brains and the fact that he is well off doesn't hurt. It helps that he is disconnected from his surroundings which means he doesn't make the most rational decisions. Derek enjoys making others feel stupid so he doesn't easily make friends. He'd say the gang are the only real friends he has in the city. He's a whiz at cards so it's best to not try to play with him, you won't win. Mostly because he learned how to count cards when he was twelve.

Finn was born in Ireland and spent most of his youth there before traveling with his brother to New York. Their parents died shortly before they left Ireland and that was the main reason they came to New York. When they arrived in the city Finn found it was harder than he expected to find work but then he met Scar Bourke. Shortly after he became an integral part of his gang along with his brother Luke.

They left New York for awhile when a new leader stepped up in the gang, but they're back now and Finn is enjoying causing all the trouble he possibly can. He's also enjoying that they 'purchased' Raconteur's and he now lives in a bar/gambling hall. He can usually be found at the poker table or at the bar, unless he's out furthering his own business investments.

Finn has a very shrewd mind when it comes to business and he's able to make the type of money he would need to live a comfortable lifestyle with his brother, Luke. He doesn't envision them being part of Five Points for the rest of their life but to him it's a nice stepping stone to getting somewhere bigger. He's extremely close with his brother and also with Killian. He enjoys flirting with the women who hang around, but he doesn't really take any of it seriously. He's more interested in things that, in the long run, will gain him and his brother something monetary or property wise.

Killian spent his youth in Ireland, but he's always lived in a city. The first few years of his life he lived in Galway before his family relocated to Dublin. His parents died in a fire that consumed their entire building, Killian had been at a friends house that night. Since he had no other family and he was old enough to understand he didn't want to be taken into an orphanage he signed on with a ship for a few years swabbing decks. When he finally decided he'd had enough of the sea he ended up in New York at the tender age of sixteen. He quickly grew accustomed to the ways of the street and survived by moving from one place to another before finally settling in Five Points. He met Finn and Luke Gallagher shortly after and joined up with the Five Points Gang.

Killian can be very short tempered and he doesn't put up with people who annoy him which is pretty much everyone even on a good day. He's much more of a loner than a joiner and he tends to leave early and come back late. It's not that he's secretive (although he is) it's more that he doesn't have the social skills to make friends. The only time he turns the charm on is when there's a pretty woman in the vicinity. Of course as quickly as it comes it goes when he's bored which is usually the day after he meets said woman.

Killian is not someone most people would want to meet in a fight. He's strong and wirey and he doesn't mind fighting dirty in the least. He is however a good person to have at your back because loyalty runs deep through his veins but so does violence and he can turn at the drop of a dime so tread carefully. He sleeps with a knife under his pillow so try not to wake him he doesn't like being startled.

Antoinette grew up in southern Georgia, where she was raised mostly by her father having lost her mother to tuberculosis when she was a young child. Antoinette learned early how to get her way and by the time she reached puberty she had her father wrapped around her little finger.
She was actually the one who suggested the move, she had set her sights on New York City and hadn’t given up on it until she had gotten her way. Because her fathers business is based in Georgia he spends most of his time there while Antoinette lives in the lap of luxury in upper Manhattan.

Antoinette plays a part when her father is around. The part of the innocent young woman, who loves to play music and talk about the latest fashion. Although she does enjoy doing those things when fathers away Antoinette will play. She enjoys playing with peoples minds, teasing men, and gloating over the fact that her family was the richest in her part of Georgia and one of the richest in New York. S

he’s a conniving, devious girl who prides herself on her appearance and wearing the latest trend. She may come off as sweet and innocent but if you believe it for a moment you will inevitable regret it once she sinks her claws into you.

Sonkai was born in Scotland, but was barely a few days old when her caravan moved on. She spent most of her youth traveling Europe with her gypsy family. When she was seventeen she was captured by an Englishman and brought to America to work in his home. After being there for a few years she managed to escape and make her way to New York. She was barely there a week when she met Medda and began working for her. They formed an instant bond of friendship that Sonkai has clung too ever since. Medda is one of the few people in the city that Sonkai truly believes she can trust and she'd do anything for the woman.

Irving Hall is the only thing that really ties her to the city and although she longs for the open road and for her family she's having a hard time making herself leave. Irving Hall offers her the opportunity to do the do the things she loves most in life, dancing and singing. Sonkai is very much a free spirit and she doesn't let anything hold her back. She is very aloof when it comes to meeting people and making friends. She is not the type of girl who offers a smile to just anyone. Most people are more likely to be offered a sarcastic remark then a simple greeting.

Medda has been trying to force her to work on her people skills by requiring her to work the floor as well as on stage. It hasn't changed anything about Sonkai though except possibly make her hate for Americans grow even more. She sees most of them as drunks who try to cop a feel whenever they possibly can. She doesn't enjoy working the floor but she would never say no to Medda so she deals with the way she deals with everything else, a stiff spine and a cold glare for anyone who would dare to try to put their hands on her.

Devan was born in the heart of the west, while her family was traveling between cities. Both of her parents worked for the circus; her father a lion tamer and her mother a trapeze artist. They fell in love at first sight of one another and were married within a year, with Devan on the way. As Devan grew, her mother taught her the art of the trapeze. Although she loves flying through the air, she was always more taken with the modern ideas like aerial silk.

Devan never pictured or ever thought she wanted a life away from her family and friends, but her mother thought she should explore a world outside of the circus before deciding. As her caravan was traveling to New Orleans, Devan broke off and headed for New York instead. They are scheduled to meet again in the city in a few months. Devan's parents gave her enough money to get her by and she plans to find a job doing something in New York.

Although Devan misses her family and friends, she can't help but be excited at the prospect of meeting people outside of her world. She'll no longer be known as the 'Flying Butterfly' and can instead just by her name. She isn't sure if this new life is for her, but she's never backed down from a challenge before and she certainly won't now.
