David "Walking Mouth" Jacobs
Loyal| Thoughtful| Practical |Manhattan Right Hand | Sincere| Newsie

David lives in an apartment in Harlem with his parents, little brother Les and sister, Sarah. He joined up with the Newsies cause back during the strike after his father was forced out of factory work because of an injury. To his surprise, David rather enjoyed being a Newsie and has stayed one since the strike, spending his time on the streets with his friends in Manhattan.
He considers Manhattan leader, Jack Kelly, to be his best friend and all of the Manhattan Newsies as part of his family: there is nothing he wouldn't do for them. David is often the voice of reason among his more spontaneous and daring friends, though has developed a bit more of an adventurous side since spending so much time with them. David can be very introspective and thoughtful when someone takes the time to get to know him and though he has the reputation for being the mouth and piping up on the dangers of proposed activities, he enjoys having fun as much as the rest of them and there isn't a better friend that you can have.
David recently joined the Newsies in their fight to save their friends snatched off the street and forced to work in the warehouses. He paired up with Brooklyn's Fighter Mallory to rescue someone close to her and they made an effective team. Those moments in battle changed David forever, his mortality becoming a much more striking reality and he's battled recently with his own role in everything that happened. While the experience reinforced his fierce loyalty to Jack, the Newsies and his friends, it also connected him to Fighter and in the months that have passed the bond between them has only strengthened. They've been maintaining a secret relationship over the past few months but as secrets have a tendency to do, it's all beginning to become uncovered.

Daisy O'Connor
Kind| Generous| Sweet | Loving | Friendly | Cheerful

Daisy was born and raised in Ireland in a small village just outside of Dublin. She had a happy childhood growing up on her family farm and running the hills of Dublin; her father was an agricultural farmer and she spent most of her time learning how to be a good wife at her mother's side. When Daisy was barely 16, the family hit on hard times and in an effort to improve their lot in life made the journey, as so many others did, across the ocean to live the infamous American Dream. Once in the city, Daisy and her parents settled into a tiny apartment in Brooklyn, Daisy taking some jobs to help with the living costs and her father and mother both getting jobs at factories. Disheartened by their lack of success and feeling confined by the the walls of the city, Daisy's father grew slowly bitter, withdrawing in himself as the days and months passed. When the tuberculosis epidemic spread through the city a few years ago it claimed her mother, a loss that Daisy felt deeply as she cared for her until her last moment. Shortly after her mother's death, her father disappeared, Daisy has not seen him since.
Daisy has persevered, holding down her job at McGinty's as a barmaid and finding small slices of joy in the everyday. Recently, her world changed when Jerry Flynn walked into McGinty's to pick up some whiskey for his brother. Daisy was captivated and hopes that their recent courtship might lead to something more as her heart tends to skip a beat when he smiles at her and he can often be found waiting to walk her home after one of her shifts.
Daisy is almost quite literally the definition of a ray of sunshine. Despite some of the darkened bits the world has handed her, she's found a way to hang onto her optimism and look on the bright side. A rare thing in Brooklyn, Daisy is always ready with a cheerful smile and willingness to help when her fellow man is in need. Her hours at McGinty's and walking the streets of Brooklyn have made her street smart and she has an ability to handle most things with grace and ease, but is a sucker for a friend in need. She finds joy in the kitchen, loving the art of cooking finding it not only good for her soul but for others as well. Her specialties is pie and Daisy can often be found at the market buying up fresh ingredients when her finances allow it. She dreams of one day studying to be a nurse and hopes to have a family to fill her heart...but she now finds love and joy in her friends and bringing good cheer to others.

Sarah Williams
Alluring| Flirtatious| Performer | Smoker| Westerner| Survivor

Born and raised out West to a white mother and Mexican father, Sarah had a somewhat trying childhood, but made the most of it and survived on grit and determination. She assimilated into the theater and life on the stage fairly early having been ignored and kicked out of her home by her father at an early age. She started just outside of the New Mexico town she grew up in before her natural singing talent and charm had her graduating to bigger stages all over the state of California.
Thriving on being the attention and growing a bit of an audience, Sarah settled in San Francisco for a few years which is where she met and befriended Naomi Talbot. The two became close friends, a friendship that endured even after they went their separate ways, Naomi east to New York and Sarah staying behind in San Francisco. Though enjoying the company of men, Sarah fell in love once: with a cowboy named Patrick that died before they were able to fulfill their promises to one another. Sarah has since given up on finding love and after Patrick's death found herself growing restless in her Western home.
A letter from her old friend, Naomi requesting help with her new dance hall and theater in New York seemed just the distraction that Sarah needed. So she packed up her things (along with her memories) and made the journey across the country where she has settled in nicely to New York. Sarah harbors no unfinished feelings for her lost love, square with the idea that his time had come and glad that she got the time with him that she did. She finds New York to be a whole different world from the one she knew and at times finds the concrete and buildings far more confining than she likes, after the open plain of most of her life. But the city has a lifeblood and pulse that appeals to her and she enjoys having a new stage and new world to explore.
Sarah is as loyal a friend as you can find, almost to a fault and isn't likely to back away from a fight, though she knows to pick her battles. She enjoys sex and men and never misses an opportunity for both when it is presented. She's aware of her sexuality and isn't afraid to use it, something that does her favors in her chosen profession. She's a natural flirt and conversationalist with a quick wit and laugh who enjoys someone who can challenge her. Her two biggest vices are cigarettes and whiskey, both of which she enjoys on a regular basis and isn't ashamed of either. Sarah can often be found at the Caprice Hall bar chatting with customers or other staff, backstage whipping the other performers into shape or out exploring her new home.

Shannon Murphy
Fun-Loving| Impulsive| Adventurous| Spontaneous | Barmaid | Irish

Shannon grew up in the same Irish village as her best friend, Sean O'Malley. Already friends when her parents died when Shannon was just twelve, she was taken in by Sean's grandmother and raised alongside her best friend and his sister, Bridgette. It was never a dull moment when Sean and Shannon were in the house and they developed a bond that was born through years growing up together, but also an uncanny connection and like-personalities that have connected them for life.
She came with Sean over to New York, looking at the move as another one of their grand adventures, ready to discover what new things the city has to offer them. Shannon works at McGinty's as a barmaid. Shannon likes to spend her time outside of the pub exploring the city, occasionally venturing out after dark despite Sean's warnings not too. Though she is still adjusting, Shannon loves their new life in the city and hopes that they stay for awhile, though she would follow Sean anywhere.
Shannon is a fun loving girl with a lot of spirit who always enjoys a good laugh. She loves to dance, sing and trouble has a knack of following her around. Though Sean likes to protect her, Shannon can no doubt take care of herself and has on occasion when it's called for, though her tongue has a tendency to get her into trouble. Shannon often acts before thinking and gets herself into some fine messes but looks at it all as part of life's grand adventure. One of Shannon's favorite places in the city is right in the pub, singing an Irish tune as Bridgette plays the fiddle and she dances and flirts with the customers. She smiles easily and though she does have a tendency to be rash, she's smart and has a good head on her shoulders, which she uses to get out of a bind.

Ki Harper
Friendly| Loyal| Strong | Accepting | Patient| Circus Performer

Ki's mother was a gypsy traveling through the same town as the circus when she fell in love with the strong man performer and abandoned her caravan to follow her heart. The following spring Ki was born, bearing the name of a grandfather he would never know. He was raised among the performers of the circus, his cousin Devan born a year after him was his constant companion and the ragtag collection of people becoming his extended family, the tents and animals his playground. As he grew older it was easy to see that he would inherit his father's massive size and strength and slowly Ki has been taking over more and more of the strong man performances.
As pleased as Ki is with the circus life and as much as he loves his makeshift family - both blood and naught - he has recently felt a need to break away and see what life outside of the circus is like. After seeing Devan break away to head to New York to experience such a life, Ki went and pleaded with his parents and aunt and uncle to be afforded the same opportunity. Thinking it wise that Devan have a companion and wishing to give their son and nephew the freedom to become a man on his own terms, Ki is granted his wish. He departed the circus only a week after Devan and has landed in New York in search of his cousin and whatever life in the city might bring him.
Most would think that at 6'6" and mostly well toned muscle, Ki would be a brawling sort that looked for trouble at every turn. But the truth is he's an affable, congenial sort who much prefers laughter and conversations to fists. And though he is not the sort to go looking for a fight he isn't likely to back away from one either and is quick to defend that which he feels needs defending. Being raised in the circus among some of the outcasts and freaks of society have taught Ki a tolerance for people of all sorts, a kindness that is belied by his size - those who get to know him find a kind and generous friend. Slow to anger, Ki's long standing patience with what most might find insufferable has been a long standing family amusement. He has a rock steadiness to him that suits him well in both his career and life in general, choosing his words and moments carefully. Ki has a strong devotion to those he loves, family and friends alike, and will do anything for them should they ask. He does have a weakness for a well poured drink and can be lured into a card game easily enough, though his results are mixed at best.

Luke Gallagher
Charming| Dangerous| Deadly | Gambler | Brother| Five Points

A quick talker with a charming, handsome smile, Luke finds a way to get what he wants with a wink and a laugh. He enjoys a decent beer and a really good cigar while indulging in his favorite card game, be it with his friends, his brother or whomever might be available at the moment. Luke is loyal to those he trusts, particularly his brother - whom he idolizes though would never admit that to anyone. Some might find Luke's charm a weakness, but with his ability to turn on a dime when needed, it's one of his greatest strengths.
Luke grew up in Ireland with his brother and lived there until his parents died and they relocated to New York. Though trying at first, through determination (and his brother's excellent ability to make the appropriate connections) the brothers are carving a place out for themselves in the gang and the city.

Gianna "Gia" Mancini
Shy| Quiet| Talented Singer | Good Listener | Gentle | Queens

Italian by blood and American by birth, Gianna knows very little about her parents. She was left on the doorstep of a church when she was just five weeks old with no note or explanation and was found by a nun. She was sent to a nearby orphanage where she was raised, given schooling and permitted to visit the nun, Sister Mary, who found her often.
Just after her sixteenth birthday, Gianna was turned out of the orphanage due to overcrowding and as one of the older residents they simply couldn't accommodate her any longer. She struggled for a bit, attempting to stay at the church that had become like a second home but Sister Mary had passed the year before and the church wouldn't do as a permanent home. Scared and lonely, Gianna huddled in corners and alleyways until stumbling across the newsies and finding a home alongside other street kids, some of their stories not that unlike her own.
Music became her solace when she was growing up and as she's gotten older she's embraced it even more. Her fondest dream is to be a famous singer, though fears her nerves and shyness would make it virtually impossible. She can occasionally be found singing on the street when selling papes, a way to bring in a few extra coins and because there is a simple joy in it for her. Sometimes in her free time she likes to slip up into the balcony at Caprice Hall and watch the stage show for hours - she doesn't care much for the crowds or the seeming chaos coming from it, but she can't take her eyes of the women as they perform. To her they are the most graceful and beautiful creatures she has ever seen and she loves to sit and watch them and dream that someday, that will be her.
