This large warehouse-like room has a few shabby tables and broken chairs set up, and is usually the location of the best parties...

Perch walked into the room slowly as if she was just passing through. Glancing around she saw that no one was around and she stopped, her eyes running slowly over the empty chairs. She thought for a minute and decided that even though they didnt look to comfortable, they just might do. "at least its quiet" she said as she sat down in one of the chairs. it didnt bother her that one of the arms was missing from the chair, she could just lean on the other one. She propped her feet up against another chair and closed her eyes hoping that she could catch a few minutes of sleep.

Smalls shoved open the front door, letting it slam behind her with a resounding bang. The prices of papers had gone up again, and she was livid. Walking over to the old sofa she collapsed down into the corner of it, one foot on the ground while her other leg stretched out across it. She dug through her front pocket, finally pulling out a cigarette and quickly lighting it before ever acknowledging the presence of the other girl. After taking a long drag she offered a slight head nod in greeting. "'Aven't seen you 'round in a while Perch."

Perch opened her eyes as she heard someone approaching and rolled her eyes as the door slammed. there goes my peace and quiet she thought. She closed her eyes quickly before the other person got any farther into the room. Maybe if she pretended she was asleep, they would just go away. She heard footsteps and someone falling onto the couch and then smelled cigarette smoke. damn. she opened her eyes to see who it was because they obviously weren't leaving. "'Aven't seen you 'round in a while Perch." Perch smiled. " 'ey smalls. I've been 'round, but yeh it has been a while. Some long lost aunt of mine came to town. She just came to see if me dad 'ad left her anytin but i didnt wanna be 'round her ya know? so i hid for a little, just in case they came lookin for me. trust me, if they'da found me it wouldnta been anythin more than a search for a few extra coin. Anyway, how ya been?"

*NEW*
Perry glanced around the lodging house, holding a stick in front of him like a sword waiting for something/someone to pop out. He had begged and begged his sister to bring him here and she had absolutely refused so once he figured out how to get here from other newsies he snuck away and came here on his own. Perry turned around in circles looking at every nook and cranny of the downstairs of the lodging house. He was in awe although it was just like a regular lodging house. He was in awe because this was where Spot Conlon lived and he so desperately wanted to meet him. Perry wasn't afraid of having Spot be mad at him, in his mind Spot was a hero and someone who would never heart a little kid.

"Uhh...I don't think yer one of my kids." Spot had been watching the small kid for a bit, unsure what he was getting at. Perhaps he was lost...there were always kids getting lost around here; not that Brooklyn was that hard to get lost in--there was a bridge and all.
Moving forward, he tucked his cane under his arm, pushing his hat off his head and into his hand. "You get lost, kid? Or you lookin' for a place to stay."

Perry turned when Spot spoke to him and a look of complete and utter awe passed over his face. This had to be Spot Conlon, he had said that he didn't think Perry was one of his kids and he had a cane tucked under his arm just like Dewey said he always carried with him. His jaw dropped a little and his eyes widened, he was in the prescense of such a famous newsie. It took him a moment to speak, but when he did his voice clearly showed his admiration for the the newsie leader he'd never met before. "Sure, I mean no...I mean your Spot Conlon aren't you?"
He hadn't moved an inch since realizing that Spot was in the room. He was always looking for a new hero without realizing it and with all the stories about Spot he'd just been drawn to him. He was so innocent that even all the bad things that had been mentioned didn't phase him one bit. He just couldn't believe that every newsie in the city knew who Spot Conlon was. He'd even heard his name in Jersey City but had never really paid much mind to it then. Now that he was here though he had latched on to the idea of such a newsie. It took all Perry had not to launch into a thousand different questions but he figured Spot might not be the kind to like a ton of questions so for now he was holding back.

~New Day~
Prop pushed open the door to the lodging house, her bag thrown haphazardly over her shoulder, and her hat pulled low on her head.
She glanced around warily, her eyes narrowing slightly. When she realized that there was no one there, she knocked lightly on the door frame.
"Hullo?"

"What?!" Lucky was leaning in the chair with her large tom cat, Boxer, in her lap. The smoke rings from her cigarette wafted to the rafters as she used one hand to rub the ears of her demon cat and the other to hold her smoke and turn the page of the book she was reading.
Being one of the people who tended to operate in the lodging house like she could just live there forever, Lucky had a tone in her voice that was as commanding as Spot's. Never mess with Brooklyn, they all tended to be that way.

Prop's head snapped toward the sound of the voice. She surveyed the girl and the cat for a moment before she answered.
"Who'd I speak wit' ta get a place ta stay?"
She kept her face impassive and calm. Her voice held no emotion.

The other girl lifted a curious brow as the cat began to hiss wildly, she put her hand on his head and she drew out a long drag from the smoke again. She looked comfortable. "That'd be Spot Conlon-- you never heard of him?" EVERYONE had heard of Spot Conlon.
She turned the page in her book, watching the girl with clear eyes. "You ain't some sissy think that they can play with the big kids in Brooks are ya? Cause I'll have ta tell you to get your skinny little ass to Queens if that's the case." Lucky was just that way.

Prop's eyes narrowed as the cat hissed at her, but made no comment. She instead, curled her lip slightly at the girl.
"O' course, I know Spot Conlon." she groused, rolling her eyes. She didn't add that she'd only just heard about the Brooklyn leader from a random newsie who she'd asked about lodging.
"An' no, I ain't no sissy. Brooklyn is just fine." she said, leveling her eyes on the other. Not a challenge, but it booked no change of mind.

Her lips quirked and she took another drag, setting the large tomcat on the floor so he could roam to his liking. He was a large dark calico and he could be mean as spit. He fit right in. Ruffling the cat as he walked away she sat up and stretched her arms over her head.
"Well I can't tell ya if you can stay or not, Spot tends to let people in and kick them out just as fast if they get on his nerves, but you can hang around for awhile till he gets back. That is-- since you ain't a sissy.." She chuckled as she put her smoke out on the wall.

David lingered in the doorway, not wanting to interrupt the conversation. A small seditious voice in the back of his mind said that he could always come back later when things weren’t so busy, but he quashed it. He had work to do.
Taking a deep breath, David stepped carefully into the Lodging House. He kept his eyes up, but inclined his head politely to the young ladies in the room. “Excuse me,” he said. “I don’t want to bother you, but is Spot Conlon in?”
This was the moment of truth. Would they trust him or would he be tossed out on his ear? Smiling sardonically, David waited patiently for the verdict like a prisoner in the dock.

Prop eyed the cat warily as it wandered around. She wasn't exactly a cat person. She then looked back at the other.
"T'anks." she muttered with a frown.
She tensed as a voice spoke from behind her and moved off to the side, so that she could see whoever it was. She didn't like people standing behind her. She nodded back when he nodded at her.
