She didn't really know that there was much of a difference growing up though she speaks Spanish from both of her parents. Vibrant and stubborn, she has an older brother and a younger sister that she is very fond of. Her father played music for a living, though in reality he worked at the docks while her mother was a laundress. Her father got ill and was unable to return to work leaving him unemployed. Leaving her elder brother to go to work to support the family until he could get back to work. She decided she would go into work as well, to help the family from losing their tiny apartment. When she was fourteen she moved into the local lodging house, unfortunately it burned down while she was working at the factory and she ended up moving into the Newsies Lodging house in Manhattan. She spent a lot of time in both Manhattan and Brooklyn respectively being close friends with Red Russiani. When Ace and Red both left town for an adventure she went with them and explored a lot of the East before word got to her that her baby sister was sick and she came home to help take care of her. Now she spends time in the Manhattan lodging house keeping it clean and doing laundry more than she ever sells. As she has never been one to like selling papers, she'll go with the boys on occasion.
