PERSONALITY

Derek is very withdrawn from the world around him. He was born to people who were extremely well off and they sought the best education they could for him. He always grasped the material very quickly and was far more advanced then his peers. Because of that he never quite fit in with the others and when his parents died in a 'freak accident' he inherited all of their money he withdrew from school and fell in with a less then savory crowd. Because of his wealth he enjoys the finer things in life, but he isn't flashy about it for obvious reasons.

He's essential to the group because of his brains and the fact that he is well off doesn't hurt. It helps that he is disconnected from his surroundings which means he doesn't make the most rational decisions. Derek enjoys making others feel stupid so he doesn't easily make friends. He'd say the gang are the only real friends he has in the city. He's a whiz at cards so it's best to not try to play with him, you won't win. Mostly because he learned how to count cards when he was twelve.

HISTORY

Derek was born in Galway, but his parents relocated them to the United States when he was barely a year old. They were born into money and his father was an excellent business man using his skills to double the money they had. As he got older they noticed something was different about him other then his intelligence. He would act out against his peers, often getting into fights and beating others kids unconscious. His father had lost count of how many people he'd had to pay off to keep his son out of a psych hospital, but eventually he felt that would be the best place for him.

Before he could finalize the paperwork though both he and his wife died in a mysterious accident and Derek came into control of all of his families assets. It wasn't long after that that he met Killian O'Donnell. Killian was trying to con him out of money but Derek was hardly fooled. They became fast friends, finding they had more in common then they thought. Killian introduced him to the gang and showed what an asset he would be to them. Since then he's been running with Five Points.
