DIANA RAE WESTMAN
[/center]NAME: Diana Westman
NICKNAME: Bandit
AGE: 16
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA
PERSONALITY
As far back as Bandit could remember, people have always said that she was wild, and full of life. It was possibly because her parents always brought her to parties, where she also learned to dance as well. She soon discovered that she loved to dance, feeling that if made her feel free. Her parents were middle-class, and very social. So since she was brought up that way, Bandit always thought she was above everyone else whom she considered lower-class. She always loved her life, and she was always considered pretty optimistic, having always been able to see the good in almost everyone she's ever met. She is known for being very friendly at times, but it usually gets her into some personal trouble because she was also known to be a bit naive. Bandit could be very affectionate, but sometimes pretty forward. This blonde-haired,Texas native is also intelligent, but at the same time, she can be a bit ditzy. She is also very skillful at fighting and stealing, which are somethings that usually gets her in trouble. Bandit is able to usually make friends with no problem. She's pretty smart when she needs to be. Her instincts tend to kick in pretty quickly during different situations.
Bandit also prides herself on being a bit flirtatious, but she has her boundaries. However, her other bad points seem to be that she is very hot-headed, stubborn, sarcastic, and sassy. But as nice as Bandit, she also has the tendency to lose her temper whenever someone insults her. She learned how to fight from some of the older boys in Manhattan on her street corner. They would teach her how to throw punches, and she soon became a quick study.
HISTORY
Born in Austin, Texas on the 23rd of July 1883, Diana's life has been pretty easy. Her parents, who worked in a bar in Texas, moved to Manhattan with her when she was 6 due to her father getting a new job. They lived a pretty normal life. Her mother got a job as a seamstress and her father continued work as a bartender. That is...until tragedy struck. Diana's grandmother became ill when she was 8, and her parents had left her in New York by herself to go back to Austin for a while to take care of the grandmother, due to the fact that they thought that Diana wouldn't be able to cope with being near her sick grandmother.
During that time, they sent Diana money to survive on, as they kept telling her that they would be home as soon as her grandmother got better. Diana waited and waited by the apartment window everyday...but there was still no sign of them.
After a whole 2 years of waiting, a soon-to-be 11 year old Diana finally came to grips with reality, and realized that her parents had abandoned her...or at least that's what she thought. In truth, her parents' house in Texas was broken into one night, and both of her parents were murdered in cold blood. She was soon placed in an Orphanage, where she quickly found herself learning that there were kids much worse off than her in the world
She found herself disliking the Orphanage, so one night, she escaped. When she got back on the streets, she resorted to pick-pocketing for a while, being taught how by a boy named Scraps, who was 12 and took a slight liking to Diana. So, He had decided to help her out. But one night as fate would have it...She was caught trying to pick-pocket a cop, and for that, she was thrown in the Refuge. During her time there, she was given the nickname "Bandit", a name she made her own.
After many failed escape attempts over the last 3 and a half years, Diana had almost given up hope. Then, one night, on the eve of her 15th Birthday...she had made it known to some of the other kids in her bunk that she was planning on escaping, due to a few of the older kids sexually harassing her. So, being that a few of the other kids actually liked her, they helped her out. That night, Bandit made her escape. Promising herself, that she would never return.
Then on that same rainy night, she was wandering the streets, and ended up on the front steps of The Manhattan Newsboys Lodging House. She was sooner or later recruited by them, and has been with the Manhattan Newsies for the last 14 months so far, having just turned 16 just a bit after joining them.
