Name: James "Jim/Jem" Travers
Age: 9 (Almost 10!)
Location: Brooklyn streets for as long as he can remember.
Looks: Short, scrawny boy, with fair freckless skin, reddish blonde hair and dark brown eyes. He also moves very quickly and quietly, this is how he avoids trouble.
History: Jem has been living on the streets for as long as he can remeber. He barely remembers having a family, just fleeting memories from when he was a baby that he's not even sure are real. He lived in the orphanage for six years, running away last summer when there was talk of sending him out west on the orphan train.
Jem now lives in the Queens Lodging house, adopting Prince as his mother, for the time being.
Jem's a sweet kid, who hasn't let his hard life get to him. He still hopes that one day he'll find a true family and get out of the streets.
Jem's nickname is from the day Prince found him. She asked him what his name was, and he spoke so quietly that it sounded like Jem to her. They discovered later that he had said Jim, but the name Jem simply stuck.
