*NEW DAY* Fighter leaned back in her chair at the corner table, enjoying the solitude. There were plenty of people occupying McGinty's, but none of them were paying any attention to the slim girl sipping on whiskey in the corner. Which was probably a good thing for them as well considering she wasn't in the mood to be played with and would probably attack if provoked. It had been a lousy couple of days and she just wanted some time to relax and sort her thoughts. Her life hadn't exactly been getting any better lately and it felt as though someone were following her again. She doubted even Aidan would have the balls to keep doing that after their latest run-in so she wasn't sure if she was being paranoid or not. Her thoughts continued to spin out of control as she poured herself a shot from the bottle sitting on her table. She was lucky tonight and the bartender was someone who'd been itching to date her so it hadn't taken long for her to flirt her way into getting a bottle out of him. Of course, she didn't plan on actually following through on the date but she'd milk it for what it was worth now. Lifting the shot glass to her lips she tilted her head back and swallowed the burning liquid. When a man sat down at the piano in the corner and began to play an Irish tune she turned her attention to him and her lips quirked up into a smirk. Fighter couldn't help but tap her foot along with the beat. Part of her wished Joe were around. The last time she'd heard this song in McGinty's they'd been singing it at the top of their lungs. That had been a good night, of course, she couldn't remember most of that but what she did remember had been fun.

Banshee frowned in irritation as the bartender refused his request for a shot of Ireland's finest. And then scowled as his request for a pint resulted in a glass of sarsaparilla and a smug smirk. *Christ! What's it take t' get a bloody decent drink?* he thought to himself as he paid the still smirking bartender. He took his drink and scanned the room for an empty table, finally spotting one near the corner. Weaving his way through the rowdy crowd, he quickly staked his claim and settled onto the hard stool.
A second, more thorough survey of the room revealed Fighter seated at a table in the corner by the wall. Banshee noticed, with no small amount of envy, that a bottle of whiskey sat before her. He glanced at the bartender, then back at Fighter, an idea of how she got the coveted bottle forming in his mind. *Fair play t' the lass,* he thought as he raised his glass towards her with a slight nod and a rueful grin before turning his attention back towards the rest of the room.
When the piano player started up a lively tune in the corner, Banshee's grin widened. It was nights like this that he could almost forget that he was thousands of miles away from his beloved Eirinn. He took a swig of his drink, grimacing slightly at the sweet taste, and let his mind get lost in the music.

Fighter saw Banshee walk through the door, but didn't follow his encounter with the bartender. She was too busy indulging in her thoughts and pouring herself yet another shot. She knew that tomorrow the end of the night would be fuzzy for her, but she couldn't bring herself to car.
She barely noticed when he gave her a nod after sitting at a table not too far from her but she did notice in time to raise her glass and offer a smirk. Pulling a cigarette out of her pocket she set it on the table as she began looking for her matchbook. Fighter could've sworn she'd stuck them in her pocket earlier but apparently not because they weren't there.

"And its no, nay, never.... No nay never, no more... Will I play the wild rover, no never, no more!"
Banshee grinned as the song came to an end and the man swung into another without pause. He lit up a cigarette and let his gaze roam the lively crowd before coming to rest on Fighter again. He watched her for a moment, his eyebrow cocked at her odd behavior, before noticing an unlit cigarette lying on the table. Watching as she continued to search her pockets, an idea began to form in Banshee's head. It was a long shot, but... He got up and approached her table slowly.
"Lookin' for one o' these?" he asked holding up a box of matches and rattling it lightly. He then took a long drag of his own cigarette and exhaled it slowly, sighing with exaggerated pleasure. Giving her his most charming smile, he looked pointedly at her bottle of whiskey. "How 'bout a trade, yeah? One shot for one match...."

Fighter's eyes snapped up whens he heard a set of footsteps approaching her table. She hadn't realized that her hand had automatically enclosed around her blade but when she saw who it was she relaxed and pulled her hand from her pocket. When Banshee asked her if she was looking for a match she smirked and waited for him to continue. She didn't Banshee all that well but she figured he had an ulterior motive for coming over and if she knew the boys of Brooklyn it probably had something to do with the bottle sitting on her table.
She smirked when he asked for a trade and motioned for him to sit. "Fine by me," It wasn't as though she'd paid for the bottle anyway. She pushed the shot glass over towards him and held her hand out for the matchbox. Lifting her cigarette to her lips, she turned her head towards the piano man and smirked when she recognized the tune as one of her uncle's favorites.
I'll tell you a story of a row in the town, When the green flag went up and the Crown rag came down, 'Twas the neatest and sweetest thing ever you saw, And they played the best games played in Erin Go Bragh.
Once her cigarette was lit, she took a drag and exhaled slowly. She hummed along under her breath, not drunk enough at this point to sing aloud. It wasn't that she had a terrible voice, but she hated attracting attention to herself. The last time she'd done that the attention she'd attracted would've caused her problems if Joe hadn't been with her. Fighter didn't know Banshee well enough to know how he'd react, but she doubted it would be the way her friend had. A slight smirk played across her face as the song continued.

Banshee was pleasantly surprised as he dropped onto the stool across from Fighter and exchanged his matches for the shot glass. He had honestly expected her to tell him to piss off, and as they had barely said more than a few words to each other in the past, he wouldn’t have blamed her at all. Pouring himself a shot, he downed it quickly, a slight smile flickering across his lips as the liquid warmed his belly. He refilled the glass and pushed it back towards Fighter with a nod of thanks.
He turned, intending to return to his table, and noticed that it had been taken by someone else. He rolled his eyes in a brief display of irritation as he turned back towards Fighter. He started to ask if she minded sharing the table a bit longer, but realized she was no longer paying attention to him. Her eyes were focused on the piano player, her lips turned up in a smirk as she hummed along to the song.
Shrugging, Banshee took a drag off his cigarette and got comfortable. He knew Fighter would have no reservations about telling him to shove off if she tired of sharing her table, and to tell the truth, he was glad of the company. An evening like this was meant to be shared, in his opinion, and Fighter was as good a companion as any. “Maybe better than most,” he thought, as she didn’t seem inclined towards idle chatter, nor did she seem the type to pry for the sake of prying as a lot of people liked to do. He turned his attention back to the song and sang the last verse quietly to himself.
Oh glory to Dublin and her due renown. In the long generations, her name will go down! And our children will tell how their forefathers saw The red blaze o’ freedom o’er Erin Go Bragh.
A wistful smile ghosted his lips, gone almost before it even appeared. His gaze strayed back towards the bottle, but he didn’t feel like pressing his luck tonight. Instead, he took another drag from his cigarette and grinned as a boisterous chorus rang out, his foot tapping out a light rhythm.
And its all for me grog, me jolly, jolly grog All for me beer an’ tobacco Well, I spent all me tin wit’ the lasses drinkin’ gin Now across the western ocean I must wander.
((OOC- Oh boy! Now you’ve done it… I could trade songs all day and all night! I LOVE Irish music! Lol!Seriously, beat me and tell me to stop! Haha!))

As Banshee filled up the shot glass and pushed it in her direction, she shot him a smirk before lifting it to her lips. Fighter tilted her head back and swallowed the whiskey before setting the shot glass back on the table. She continued to hum and started to tap her foot along with the music, enjoying it even more.
She noticed him glance at the bottle and was surprised when he didn't say anything. She supposed she was used to Joe and Zeke who tended to take without even asking. Fighter reached out and pushed the bottle a little in his direction offering a shrug rather then an explanation and turned her attention once more to the piano man. It was then that she noticed a small girl who had walked on stage with a fiddle and begun to play with him.
A smirk graced her face once more as she watched them before snagging the bottle and lifting it to her lips, completely ignoring the shot glass as she swallowed some. It was certainly starting to hit her now, but that was most likely due to the fact that she hadn't eaten since the day before.
((OOC ~ You won't see me telling you to stop. LoL I'm right there with you on loving Irish music. Though I am more inclined towards present day, but I still like the old ones too. Gotta blame my grandfather for that. Also I'm not sure when these songs were popular so if you know and I insert a song that is totally wrong for the era please let me know.))

When Fighter nudged the whiskey bottle towards him, Banshee glanced over at her in surprise, his brow raised slightly in a silent question. Fighter gave him a little shrug of consent, which Banshee acknowledged with a rare, unguarded smile as he reached for the bottle and took a long swallow. It had been awhile since he'd had whiskey, as it was hard enough to get alcohol due to his age, and on the rare occasions he found someone willing to serve him, whiskey had been unaffordable. Closing his eyes, he felt the warmth of the alcohol seep through him, already working to relieve some of his tension. When the sound of a fiddle joined the piano, Banshee cracked his eyes and looked towards the stage where a young girl stood playing for all she was worth. He sat up slightly and leaned forward, his eyes on the bow as it tripped over the strings. He thought of his own fiddle, wrapped in a shirt under his bunk in the lodging house. It had been too long since he'd had the time to play it, and he wished he had it now. He noticed Fighter's hand straying blindly towards the bottle, her gaze riveted to the pair on stage. He discreetly nudged it into the path of the searching hand, smirking as her hand closed around it and she took a long swallow straight from the bottle. Noticing that her eyes seemed the barest hint brighter, her humming a bit louder, and her toe tapping just a little livelier, his smirk grew. This was shaping into a fine eventing to be sure, he thought to himself as he sang along, though not as quietly as before. Come single belle and beau, unto me pay attention, Don't ever fall in love, it's the divil's own invention, For once I fell in love with a damsel most bewitchin', Miss Henrietta Bell, down in Captain Kelly's kitchen. With my toora loora la, my toora loora laddy, With my toora loora la, toora loora laddy. At the age of seventeen, I was 'prenticed to a grocer, Not far from Stephen's Green, where Miss Bell for tea would go, sir, Her manners were so free, she set me heart a-twitchin', She invited me to tea, down in Captain Kelly's kitchen. With my toora loora la, my toora loora laddy, With my toora loora la, toora loora laddy. ((OOC- Oh yay! This could get quite fun then! That said... Erin Go Bragh is actually a song written about the 1916 Easter Uprising in Dublin, however, the verse that you chose to use and the one I answered with both are vague enough that I bet we can pretend it is period accurate... besides it's one of my favorites! LOL!))

Fighter's eyes snapped from the musicians to Banshee when she heard him begin to sing along with the song. He didn't sound half bad and the sight brought a smirk to her face. Taking a deep drag of her cigarette, Fighter poured herself another shot but didn't drink it right away. "How long have you been in the city?"
Although Fighter had never really conversed with Banshee before it was obvious he hadn't lived here all that long. She knew enough Irish folks to know that his thick accent meant he'd only been there for a few years at most. Then again her uncle had carried his thick accent to the grave.
The musicians once again grabbed her attention when they began to play Danny Boy. Her uncle used to sing that constantly after winning fights. Her smirk turned into a full fledged smile as she watched everyone around her. Banshee wasn't the only one singing now, and she was enjoying the show.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow 'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
((OOC: I know this song wasn't written for another ten years but it's my favorite. XD))

Fighter's question surprised him a little. He took a long drag of his cigarette and regarded her silently before releasing a slow stream of smoke. Finally he shrugged. "'Bout a year. Drifted 'round a bit before comin' t' Brooklyn, though...."
When Danny Boy began to play, the whole room got into that one. Banshee sang the melancholy lyrics with the rest, trying to ignore the longing feeling that was tugging at him. He was in no way ready to ruin the evening by giving into the pointless feeling of homesickness. To distract himself, he let his gaze wander back to Fighter. She was watching the room, a real smile on her face and amusement in her eyes. The rare sight had Banshee grinning in spite of himself.
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me I simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
As the song ended, Banshee was relieved when the duo broke into a lively reel that had fellas pulling their lasses into a dance around the room. He smiled, his foot tapping to the rhythm. He stubbed out his cigarette and reached for the bottle, taking another swallow before pushing it back across the table with a nod of thanks. He wished there was a way he could get them another bottle, but though he actually had the money for once, if the man behind the bar wouldn't sell him a shot, he doubted he'd hand over a bottle.

She gave him a smirk when he responded to her question and nodded her head a bit. She'd figured it'd been about that when she'd realized how thick his accent was. He reminded her a bit of her uncle and she supposed that was part of the reason she was being so friendly.
When the music became more energetic and people began to dance, she lifted the shot glass to her lips and swallowed the burning liquid. She couldn't remember the last time she'd enjoyed herself so much and she was barely doing anything more then getting drunk. Her foot continued tapping in time to the beat and she began tapping her fingers on her knee. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Banshee take a swig from the bottle before nodding his thanks. She merely offered a small smirk in return.
She saw a slightly familiar face walking in her direction and she had to swallow back a groan when she realized it was the bartender who was sweet on her. She hoped to god he didn't think she was going to dance with him, but it seemed god wasn't on her side tonight. He frowned when he noticed she was sitting with someone but then he focused his attention on Fighter.
"Care to dance, lass?" He held his hand out as if he were expecting her to say yes.
She carefully shielded her reaction and gave him a sweet, innocent smile that was everything she wasn't. "I'd love to, but I have two left feet." Fighter forced herself to look sheepish before she continued, pointing towards a girl who was eyeing the bartender. "She looks like she'd love to though and I'm still looking forward to that dinner."
He looked disappointed whens he said no and retracted his hand. When he glanced in the direction of the girl, Fighter could see his smile widen a bit before he turned back to her as she finished her statement. "Of course you are, dollface. I'll get back to you on that."
She had to bite her lip to keep from laughing as he walked away to talk to the other girl. Shaking her head slightly, she poured another shot and lifted it to her lips swallowing about half of it. Fighter had to silently congratulate herself on a job well done as she continued to look about the room.

Banshee met the bartender's frown and rolled his eyes. For one, it was obvious, at least to him, that he and Fighter weren't together, and for two, based on the way she was grimacing, he didn't think the guy had much of a shot with her anyway, so why should he get all territorial? He settled back in his seat to watch it play out.
He had to bite back a smile when she gave him a sweet and innocent smile... Like anyone would buy that, but the idiot was eating it up. When she explained her two left feet and managed to look sheepish about it, Banshee nearly choked as he tried to hold in his laughter. Sweet, innocent, and sheepish were looks that definitely didn't suit the girl across from him.
When she had at last gotten rid of the man, Banshee watched as she pored another shot and downed about half, her eyes roaming the room yet again. He had noticed that she seemed tense earlier, and though she had definitely loosened up some since then, she still seemed just a tad...off. "Lookin' for anyone in particular, love?" he asked casually, his own eyes wandering. He kept his tone light and slightly mocking because he was not one given to prying, but if there was something wrong, well.... He smirked, but his eyes were serious as he glanced at her.

Taking a drag of her cigarette, Fighter turned her attention back towards Banshee when he asked her if she was looking for anyone. She wasn't really looking, but she'd learned in the past that it was better to be safe then sorry. She offered him a shrug and a small smirk, "Nope, no one in particular."
She hadn't run into Scar in awhile but that didn't mean he'd forgotten about her. She was sure he wanted to pay her back still for the stunt she pulled when the kids were missing. He never forgot stuff like that or let it go. It would come back to haunt her sooner or later which is why she was always on the lookout.
"Wouldn't mind a good fight though," She said with a smirk. She always loved a good fight, especially when she was drinking.

Banshee wasn't entirely convinced that there wasn't something going on with her, but he let it drop with a shrug of his own. When she mentioned a fight, his eyes lit up and he smirked. "A fight, huh? I bet we could make that happen if we really wanted too..." he laughed, only half kidding. He had never been one to pass up a good fight himself. Giving her a reckless grin, he topped off her shot glass before taking another drink himself. "Why have we no' done this before?" he asked with a laugh.
