"Well you always know that I do what I can," Sarah teased with another smile, reaching for a cigarette and motioning for a light as she watched him carefully. Oh he was in a mood to be sure, not that Sarah minded much, and she had a feeling she knew exactly what he had in mind to take off some of the edge.
She blew out a long stream of smoke and waited while Killian got his drink and she eyed the stage, her eyes darting over towards him at his question. "You either are going to be real disappointed or lucked out because you just missed my show," Sarah explained, crossing her legs on the stool and turning a little so her knees bumped into one of his. "But I suppose that depends entirely on what you came here for."

An easy smirk slid into place across his face, "Ah, Miss Williams, I think you know what I came here for but I wouldn't have minded watching you sing and dance. After all you are quite an entertainer." Grabbing his glass he sipped from it and kept an eye on the crowd around them.
"How have you been, lass?" He didn't mind killing a bit of time down here drinking and chatting with her because he knew once they made their way upstairs they'd have quite a night in front of them.

"Don't go sweet talking me now, Killian," Sarah said with a laugh, taking the drink that the bartender set in front of her and sipping from it generously as she eyed him over the rim of the glass. He'd been scarce around lately, she assumed it was because he had other matters to attend too. But she wouldn't deny that she was glad he had come round that evening, things had been a little dull as of late.
"I've been as good as one can be in this city," Sarah said, tilting her head and watching him with thoughtful green eyes. He wasn't much on small talk usually, but she was letting him take the lead, she'd learned the first night that usually ended up in a very good way. "And what about you, stranger?" She asked, setting her glass back on the bar and letting her hand drop to run a finger subtly across his thigh.

Killian laughed, "Just speaking the truth, love." He already felt a lot better and knew he'd made the right decision coming here. She could brighten anyone's day and the fact that he knew her intimately just made it all the better.
With a shrug he took a drag of his cigarette and studied her lightly, "I'd say about the same. I've missed you though." He smirked as she ran her finger over his thigh. What he wouldn't give to toss her over his shoulder and carry her upstairs but he liked to think he had more self-control than that. "I see this place is as busy as ever," He stated trying to remain casual even as his blood heated up from the nearness of her.

"Oh a term of endearment even," Sarah said, letting her hand stay settled on his thigh as she smoked, smile toying with the ends of her mouth. "I must be ranking up there these days." She liked this side to him, the teasing joking side that so rarely made an appearance. Flirtation was fun to Sarah, especially with a handsome man and if it made him smile then that was just an added bonus.
"Missed me? I haven't gone anywhere, you knew exactly where to find me, " Sarah said with a playful wink, fire lighting a little in her eyes but instead she merely lifted her hand off of his thigh to reach for her glass and take another sip. "Always." She quieted for a moment and then shifted closer, tilting her head so she could speak into his ear. "I missed you too."

Killian just smirked, enjoying the easy banter they had going between them. He needed this, some time away from the troubles between him and Sorcha. Something about her had seemed a little off but he figured it could just be that time of the month. "You rank quite high," He said softly as he placed a hand on her forearm, running his fingers back and forth over her wrist.
"I figured you would," His smirk, turned into a smile and he took another swig from his glass before setting it on the bar for a refill. "Nice to know I haven't been replaced quite yet," His eyes twinkled a bit because he knew that no man could compete with him when it came to bedroom activities.

"See now what I'm trying to figure out is why you're trying to sweet talk me," Sarah said, eyes dancing with anticipation as his fingers played across her wrist. Oh yes, the spark was still there, always had been - the best kind of spark. "Because you know just as well as I do exactly where we are going to end up once we finish with these drinks." She lifted her glass and tilted it in a toast to him before taking another small sip.
He was arrogant and confident, two traits that Sarah hardly minded, especially in a man. But she could dish it right back, planned to often enough and she had a feeling that was one of the reasons this particular man was back. Leaning back slightly she crossed her legs, bared some skin and smiled at him. "Nice to know I'm worth a return visit."

Killian laughed a bit and grabbed his glass once it was refilled, "I suppose it's because you look so gorgeous tonight." His smirk became even more self-assured at her words and he took a sip of his drink. "Aye that we do," He said as he eyed her exposed skin.
She knew how to tease a man that was for sure but he wasn't like the other men in this room, he knew exactly where he was going to be at the end of the night and he knew exactly what kind of pleasures were in store for him. "Ach, lass, I'm sure any man in here would give a limb or two to be exactly where I am."

"Again with the flattery," Sarah commented with a wink, smiling at him knowingly as she watched him take a drink. "You be careful there Killian, you might start to raise my expectations." Sarah didn't have many, she had checked those at the door a long time ago and she had learned to look out for herself and go after what she wanted, what she enjoyed. And what she enjoyed was a roll with an arrogant man who knew how to please her.
"Hmmm...but those other men are over there," She waved her hand in the vague direction of the stage where men were beginning to gather for the next show, a few of their eyes wandering over towards her and she rewarded one with a little wink. "And you're sitting right here."

Killian laughed and shook his head, "Wouldn't want to do that." He wasn't trying to have another woman who wanted to claw his eyes out in his sleep. He just enjoyed flirting with her, plus he was fairly good at it when he put his mind to it.
"Yes, I am. I suppose that's because you already know the sort of pleasures I bring to the table." Killian ran his free hand over her thigh lightly, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips.

*NEW DAY ~ RESERVED* [/I][/B] River walked into Caprice and headed straight to the bar without bothering to look and see who was around. His mind was hazy enough that it wasn't even his main concern. His main concern at this very moment was a drink of something incredibly strong. River hadn't expected to get drunk tonight, but then again he hadn't expected to get the sort of news he'd received tonight. As soon as he sat he ordered a shot and told the bartender to leave the bottle. Running his hand through his hair he downed the first shot as soon as it was poured. He wasn't sure if he should feel stupid or not for thinking he'd finally get what he'd always wanted, but he was leaning towards he should. If Lucky hadn't done or felt anything then she wouldn't have been so upset by what happened. She may know him but he knew her just as well. She would have been angry, not upset. Pouring himself another shot, he was mentally kicking himself in the ass. He was going to pay her 'friend' a visit, but he wanted to drink in peace first. He knew no one who knew Lucky usually came to Caprice. At least no one he was friendly with, as well. He just wanted to drink for awhile and think about what had happened and then he wanted to beat someone's face in.

Sarah walked off stage after another performance feeling the high of a great crowd washing over her, it was that feeling that she sought every time she stepped on stage, every moment that she danced and sang she did it because of the rush. It was like a drug in that way she supposed, like the opium Patrick and his friends would sometimes dabble with during downtime. But the feeling only lingered for a moment, the bustle of backstage yanking Sarah back to reality as she hurried the next few girls out onto stage and then hustled back to check her makeup in the dressing room before smoothing her dress and moving out onto the floor.
She exchanged pleasantries with a few patrons, smiled at the appropriate moments, flirted with the big shots that she could pick out by their fine clothing as she slowly worked her way to the bar. It had become her custom to grab a whiskey from Jim after a performance, a way to unwind in public that still allowed her the ability to mingle with the crowd. As she drew closer she spotted a familiar shaggy head and caught sight of the handsome profile of her new friend from McGinty's - an unexpected treat on this evening to be sure.
"Well if it isn't River from the Bronx," Sarah said as she slid onto the stool beside him, shooting him a smile before realizing that the expression on his face was far from cheery. Choosing to ignore that fact for the moment and feel out his taste for company, Sarah smiled a thanks for the whiskey that appeared at her elbow and turned to look at River. "So you did decide to stick around and say hello this time."

River turned his head towards Sarah when he heard her say his name. He tried to offer her a smile but it came out as a half sneer. With a sigh, he absently lifted his glass to his lips to swallow it's contents before he answered her. "Yeah, I only caught the tail end of it though."
He only realized she was on stage long enough to hear about thirty seconds of her performance, but he didn't feel the need to divulge that much information. Quickly, he poured himself another shot before glancing around the room for the first time since walking in. He suddenly felt the need to know who was in his immediate vicinity. "Seems like you're a popular lady tonight, don't let me hog your company." He kept his voice even and winked in her direction. He wasn't trying to get her to leave but he knew what type of company he'd be right now and it wasn't anything good.
The scene from earlier with Lucky kept replaying in his head over and over. He couldn't believe she'd been so willing to leave, if that had been him he would have stayed and dealt with anything she had to say. That's what had tipped the scales for him and made him decide he was going to pay that little git a visit. He didn't know the kid from a hole in the wall but he'd been Brooklyn long enough to know what channels to use to get all the information he wanted.

"I guess that means you'll just have to come again so you can see the whole thing," Sarah said with a smile as she took a sip of her whiskey and eyed him over the rim. He was doing the best that he could to be engaging and she supposed that she should give him credit for trying, but the fact that his mind was anywhere but present wasn't lost on her. She didn't say anything for awhile, choosing instead to pull out a cigarette and light it, watching as the smoke curled up into the darkened, dim lights above the bar.
"They can all wait, sugar," She said finally, her free hand toying with the glass of whiskey as she glanced over at him. "Besides you look like you could maybe use a friend right now." She hoped he wouldn't think that she was being pushy, if he wanted to be left alone he merely had to say the word, but something told her of all the bars in the city he hadn't picked this one by happenstance. They'd met a week ago and shared a pleasant conversation over a drink in Brooklyn's best pubs, it didn't exactly make them bosom buddies and Sarah wasn't even sure if that qualified them as friends. But she also knew that sometimes that was exactly the sort of person that you needed to talk to the most; someone outside of things but who also wasn't a complete stranger.
"You okay?" She asked quietly, reaching over and setting her pack of cigarettes next to his arm as a sort of peace offering and studying his profile as they sat there. The energy of the room swirled around them, the girls onstage were just finishing up, Sarah could tell by the music and the applause from the men on the floor, but that was all secondary as she found River's eyes and held his gaze.

He offered her a small smile at her comment, "I will mark it on my calender." River poured himself another shot and focused his attention back on Sarah. She would probably be a good distraction from his disastrous thoughts, but he doubted even she could keep his mind off the problem at hand. Only one thing would satisfy him right now and that was his fist pummeling that bastards face. He ran a hand over his face absently before lifting the shot glass once more to his lips and swallowing down its contents.
A wry chuckle escaped his lips and he nodded his head, "Oh aye, a friend would be nice right about now." He could have gone back to the lodging house and drank himself into oblivion there but he hadn't felt like explaining why he was doing so to Dodger or Lefty. Part of him knew they wouldn't say anything to him, but part him was telling him they would just tell him how stupid he was to think he'd finally have Miranda all to himself. He should've known better, but he'd thought that with Sneaks finally gone she'd see that he'd always been there and had always cared for her. He scoffed lightly under his breath at the turn his thoughts had taken.
"I'll be better when I bloody a mans face," He said in an icy tone. River had started to change when he had started dating Lucky. He'd become more carefree and let a lot of his walls crumble, but now they were building themselves back up and his Brooklyn defenses were on high alert. "Saw my girl tonight," He said with a sad smirk as he poured yet another shot. "Said her new boss, who's an old friend, decided to lay one on her and tell her he loved her. Apparently he didn't know about me."
