"Well of course I make his brother a pie, why wouldn't I?" Daisy asked, because the thought not to send little bits of food home with Jerry for his older brother had never even occurred to her. She knew he liked her pastries best of all and it made her smile to know that it made Jensen happy, it never seemed to her as something not to do. But the expression on his face made her giggle and she couldn't help but return his grin, they were nothing alike the two of them, but somehow they were friends and she rather liked that.
"I just don't see any reason those two young men shouldn't have home cooked food," Daisy explained, laughing a little as she realized that she probably sounded like she was defending her actions. In truth, she liked Jerry's brother immensely and spending time with him over the Christmas holiday would even have Daisy calling them friends. "And you know it's just me at home and I always have leftovers - or I used to until the Flynn boys came along."

"You're too nice, hope they appreciate you lass," He said with a smirk. Though he wasn't sure what he'd do if he had some girl around cooking for him. He didn't really envision a permanent women in his future. Hell, most of the time he didn't envision a future for himself. He knew with his life style he was more likely to die or end up in jail then marry some broad. Plus, he'd never met a girl he felt was worth marrying, but Daisy was the type of girl you did marry.
He nodded his head to her explanation, "You don't have to explain to me doll. It's pretty clear you care for the boys." His smirk grew a bit, "At least there isn't any food going to waste." He couldn't picture Daisy being much of an eater so he doubted she would be able to eat leftovers before they went bad.

"I like to think that they do," Daisy said with a smile, remembering the way Jensen had genuinely thanked her after the meal she'd prepared just a few nights ago. "Though sometimes I think it's more my pastries Jensen, that's Jerry's brother, appreciates." She winked to let Scar know that she was teasing. Jensen might not have really understood Daisy and Jerry in the beginning, but he had always been supportive - even if he had a funny way of showing it sometimes.
"I care for all my friends," Daisy said softly, gently letting him know that she included him in that group. Ever since the loss of her parents, Daisy had leaned on her friends and pretty much considered them her family - every one of them. Food might be the way that she showed it, but the people in her life mattered - the ones who showed her kindness and most times even the ones who didn't.

Scar laughed, "Must be one hell of a baker then, Daisy." He couldn't imagine there being many men around who wouldn't take to Daisy. Especially if she was filling their stomach on a regular occasion. Scar had just never been that type of man, mostly because of his upbringing. It hadn't been an odd thing for someone he knew to be poisoned and his grandfather always said that you had to watch a woman carefully if she was doing too much for you. He didn't see Daisy that way though. She was one of the few woman he felt he could trust.
He nodded his head, "Of course you do, lass. I couldn't imagine you not caring for a soul. Especially if you still talk to me after all this time." He gave her a sly smile before pulling a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it. Women like Daisy were hard to come by, he didn't know many women who weren't scared of him or at least nervous when it came to talking to him. He rather preferred it that way because when a woman did succumb to him and go home with him they knew better then to expect anything from him. But he found he didn't really mind Daisy viewing him as a friend, in fact, he sort of enjoyed it.

"I'm not so bad, even if I do say so myself," Daisy said with a bright smile, practiced enough in the kitchen to know what tasted good and what didn't, Daisy had been fine tuning her skills as of late. It felt good to cook for the Flynn brothers and there was something about doing something you enjoyed and doing it well that made it all the better. "Perhaps some day you'll let me make you something and you can judge for yourself," She offered, though she had a feeling it would be an offer that would continue to be turned down. Scar seemed willing to only let her so close and she didn't begrude him that, it was his life and his business to attend to as he saw fit.
"And why wouldn't I talk to you, Aidan?" She asked, arching her eyebrow at him as he lit his cigarette. "Despite that nefarious reputation of yours, you were actually kind to me when we met...mostly," Daisy laughed a little as she recalled the fact that yes, he had seemed to have other intentions in mind when they first met and sure he'd come off a little gruff through the course of their conversation. But he had also smiled and laughed and come back to talk to her again - a sign of a friend, and perhaps even the smallest bit of caring if she'd ever seen it.

"We'll see, lass," He said with a smirk. He trusted Daisy, but he knew he wasn't the sort of person she should really want to be close with. He had an awful temper and although she'd never done anything to end up on the receiving end he didn't want to press his luck. Besides with Celine back in town he also didn't want to put Daisy in a position where Celine might get the wrong idea. Celine could be quite nasty when she really wanted to be and he'd hate for something to happen to Daisy and have it be his fault. He didn't feel guilt over much but he would feel guilt over that and it wasn't something he wanted.
He laughed, "You're certainly one of a kind." He was sure that there were probably others who had warned her to stay away from him and she ignored them. He wasn't sure if he was happy about it or bothered that she didn't take their warnings to heart. He would never purposely do anything to hurt Daisy, but he was sure there could be a time when it would be an accident. "Most people just prefer to keep their distance from me." But he honestly didn't mind his occasional run ins with Daisy, he just didn't want to make them a regular habit. Seeing her once in awhile lifted his spirits so he didn't want to run her off completely.

"People only see what they want to see," Daisy commented as she shot him another smile, this one more sincere. It was true enough what he said, people did keep their distance from him because of who he was and what his reputation said about him. She wasn't daft, nor was she ignorant, she'd heard enough whispers on the streets and in the pub to know the weight his name carried and the look that came into people's eyes when it was spoken. "But I learned a long time ago that there is more to just about anything than what meets the eye," Daisy said, fingers catching the edge of her coat and toying with the material. "People are forever and consistently surprising me, including you, so I prefer to make my own judgments than take those of others as my own."
It may have been a foolhardy or foolish outlook on life, particularly considering the streets that Daisy walked every day, but she clung to that ideal perhaps more ardently than was really right. She had survived the streets and she had done it with a smile and a kind word where often barely one was ever whisper, it often went further than people thought, her general and sincere brand of kindness. And long ago she had gotten square with the fact that people might not understand, that didn't make her wrong nor was it going to stop her.

"Sometimes what people say is true," He spoke quietly as he stared at her evenly. He knew he couldn't persuade Daisy to stop talking to him and he liked that, but at the same time he wasn't used to it so it made him a bit uncomfortable. "I'm glad you make your own judgments, but not everyone will turn out to be like me." But if she was any other woman they could never make the same assumptions.
He sighed and glanced around, "I should get going. Have work early tomorrow." He gave her a grin as he pulled his arm away from her. "Take care, Daisy. Tell that kid to marry you already or I might have to steal you away." He sent her a wink before turning to go. He really did need to hurry back and get some things taken care of so he'd be able to sleep at some point in the near future. Talking to Daisy always put him in a good mood though so he was whistling as he walked.

"Aye sometimes it is," Daisy agreed with the slightest tilt of her head and she couldn't help but smile at Scar's warning to her. "No not everyone will turn out like you, probably a good thing for the rest of us," She winked at him then so he'd know she was teasing before turning a little more serious. "I'm careful, Aidan, you know that I am and I appreciate your concern, but I've found that sometimes all most people need is a little bit of kindness."
When he said he had to leave, Daisy smiled wider, though with a touch of regret. Her meetings with Scar were so rare now, she knew he was a busy man and he had much to keep him occupied, but she did miss those nights he'd used to drop into McGinty's and they'd fallen into chats while she worked. For now chance meetings at the vegetable stand would do, even if he did make her blush with comments about marrying Jerry or stealing her away himself. "Don't be a stranger," Daisy said softly as he pulled away from her and she gave him a little tap on his shoulder as he took a step away from her, whistling already. "Be safe, Aidan," She found herself saying, even as he was out of ear shot and with that thought and a final look at his retreating frame, Daisy turned and headed back to Brooklyn.
