It's damp and dark under here. Watch your step, the rocks get slippery, but it's a good place to go for some privacy.

NEW DAY Lexi stood at the edge of the water, staring out across it. Her shoes were a few feet behind her and every now and then she'd dip a toe or two into the near frigid water. It was nice to feel it against her feet but she knew better than to go further in. The last thing she needed was to get sick. A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as she wrapped her arms around herself. It was nice to be out and enjoying the fairly nice day they were having today. She was glad it'd been a milder winter this year.

Avalanche missed his old friend, and was on a mission to find her, so when he discovered her down by the river he smiled and headed in her direction. He walked quietly through the sand in order to sneak up on her and scare her. He hoped it would work. He had been in an oddly mischievous mood lately, and for some reason was all sorts of excited about this. He quietly came up behind her and opened his hands wide and grabbed her around the shoulders. "ALEX!" he said loudly, preferring the front half of her name as it matched his own. Never did it occur to him that it might scare her more than he intended and maybe get himself in trouble. Not even when he continued to hold on and hug her happily.

When Lexi felt someone grab her shoulders, she tensed and pulled her elbow forward ready to throw it back into the persons stomach before she recognized the voice. Laughing, Lexi fell back against Avalanche and wrapped her arms around him. "You scared me!" She scolded as she pulled away. Lately Lexi had been feeling more like herself and spending so much time alone she learned that the best way to move on was to surround herself with her friends.

"Well I hope so," he said chuckling. "That was my goal. I do apologize, but I couldn't help but look for you. I haven't seen one of my favorite new york women in a very long time. I thought it was high time that I come and seek you out. I see you're feeling better," he said as he released her and turned her around. "Much better," he said nodding as he crossed his arms. "What's a pretty girl like you doin 'out here all alone anyway? Hmm? Where's the ever artful dodger?" he asked her with a wink.
He was happy for Lexi and dodger. And yes, he knew. He heard. He heard everything. He knew everything. One way or another he had his ways his sources. If he wanted to know, he could find out. "What you been doin' with your life for that matter?" he asked. "Living it up I hope?"

Lexi smirked and shook her head, ducking behind her hair. "I don't mind at all, Alex." When Avalanche mentioned Dodger, Lexi couldn't help bet redden a bit and was glad her hair was covering her face for the most part so Avalanche wouldn't see her embarrassment. "Taking care of some things I'm sure. The better question is where have you been? What's been going on with that Manhattan girl?"
Lexi wasn't sure what the girls name was but she remembered her fellow lodgers anger at the thought that Avalanche had been flirting with Lexi. "Walking a lot....have to stretch my legs." Considering how much time Lexi spent curled in her bunk it was no surprise that her legs were feeling weaker than usual.

He smiled to her and folded his arms across his chest. "I stayed in this winter," he said. "Did a lotta workin' down at the docks, put in extra hours, mostly," he said honestly. "Shiner? Well... if that's who ya mean I ain't seen none of her for a real long time. Good girl and all, nothin' wrong with her, I just ain't seen her for a while. Not too sure where she headed off to, ta be honest with ya," he said with a shrug. "Aint' seen her since it got cold out."
He glanced around a little. "Stretching your legs huh? With this kinda beautiful weather, good idea," he chuckled a little. "Shall we walk on then?" he asked. He was all for taking a stroll down on the shore. "After such a winter it feels so nice to be out without the heavy coat and the sensation that I might freeze to death," he said with a smile. "A winter like that kept all the pretty girls like yaself inside with such harsh weather... I dun blame ya for hidin' away from the cold... still it's nice to see you come outside." Avalanche flirted with everyone. It wasn't totally personal. it's just how he spoke to women. Almost everyone knew that by now.

Lexi stepped back from Avalanche so that she could tilt her head and actually see his face clearly, she was quite short especially compared to Avalanche. She felt a little bad for Avalanche, since it seemed that things hadn't worked out very well with Shiner. "You know, I think you should come visit me at the house sometime." Lexi gave him a small smile, although she normally wouldn't try to set people up with each other Avalanche was and an amazing man and she wanted to see him happy.
Not wanting him to think anything of her previous comment, Lexi continued talking before he could say a word. "That sounds wonderful." She wrapped her arm through Avalanches, like a true lady and she actually felt like one although part of her paused in memory of doing this exact thing with Perry. Pretending they were rich, they would walk down the street with their arms tucked around each others and hold their noses high in the air. They'd usually only get a block before they burst out laughing.
Lexi spared Avalanche a small smile at his words, she knew he was kind enough not to bring up her brother when referring to the fact that she'd been hiding for the better part of six or seven months. Patting his forearm lightly, Lexi gave him a soft smile. "Well, Alex, I hope you know I always enjoy my time when I run into you."

When she mentioned coming to visit her at the house sometime he tilted an eyebrow up at her a bit with a quirky smile. "Oookay, well maybe sometime I'll take ya up on that offer," he said chuckling. "If you make dinner," he added with a wink.
As they walked down the beach he couldn't help but smile. He always had a good time with her too. They were good friends, he liked it that way. When she finished speaking he put on a face of mock shock. "What?! No! I had no idea that you actually enjoyed my company! Well that is a load offa my mind. And all this time I thought I was just annoyin' you," he added. He shoved her gently and winked at her again. Then in all seriousness, he said, "I am glad about it." And he was. After all, if someone didn't like being around Avalanche he'd rather know it than go on in ignorance annoying people.

Lexi laughed and lightly shoved Avalanche's shoulder, "I should've known you'd only come if food was involved." She smiled and pushed a piece of hair back off of her face. She didn't mind cooking and she was relatively good at it. Well she'd gotten better since coming to the New York. Her brothers used to tell her that she'd burn water if it was possible.
A giggle escaped Lexi's lips at his words and she glanced up at him, "Well you know you only annoy me some of the time." She smirked lightly and shook her head. "You better be!" She said with a little fake attitude and a grin.

"Hey what can I say? Food is one of my favorite addictions," he said with a smirk. "We'll hafta work on that. Maybe sometime that we have more time, some evenin' this summer or somethin'."
"Well I'm glad that I'm only annoying sometimes," he added with a smirk. "And I am I am! Dun you worry missy," he said chuckling. He looked out at the water and got a little transfixed. "Ya know, weird ta think that a lotta our friends came from that way," he said with a nod. "Jus seems so weird and far away ya know?"

Lexi laughed, "Every boy says that. What man would turn down food?" None that she knew that was for sure. A slight smile crossed her lips at his next words and she shook her head slightly before following his gaze. Dodger had lived across the ocean. She'd always wondered what it was like there. Could it be any better than New York?
"Yes, it does." She bit her lip and studied the long expanse of water. "You ever wanted to go there?" Part of her had always wanted to visit the different countries her friends had told her about.

"Oh yeah," he said nodding. "Ya know I've thought about just getting on one of those cargo ships that goes international and seeing where I end up. Ya know, Ireland, England... just seems like there's so much more across an ocean." Suddenly he chuckled at himself. "Ya know I've talked to some of those kids who have come here and they say their parents sent them here to have a better life, to make something of themselves because where they came from was too crowded." He shook his head. "And here we are thinking what life must be like in jolly old England," he said smiling at her. "guess the grass is always greener huh?"

Lexi laughed and nodded her head, "So it seems." She knew her parents had come to the states they'd had their reasons. Of course, she'd never been interested in what they were and now they were gone. Lexi's smile faltered for a moment as she thought about all she'd lost, but she pushed those thoughts from her mind and turned back to glance at Avalanche. "So what are your plans for the rest of the day?"

He took his gaze from the ocean and instead, folded his hands and put them behind his head as he looked to the sky. "Iunno, thought I might go rob a few general stores, see how much I can make b'fore the bulls catch me," he said with his ever present joking smile. "I'm not really sure actually. I dun have any plans. Other than going home at some point and maybe eating dinner..." he shrugged again, still staring at the clear blue sky. "And how about you, Missy? You got plans after this?" He glanced at her for a moment, but then his gaze shifted back to the sky. Did she realize how pretty she was? Did Dodger realize how lucky he was? He chuckled in his head a little bit. Such is life.
