A small wrought iron gate in front of the old building makes for a nice hangout.

(OOC: Okay, here I go. Yayyy for the Bronx)
Jewel stood outside of her new home at the Bronx Lodging House for girls. She was beaming with severe excitement. Finally she was free from Brooklyn. All those years of being driven to fight for what you wanted. Now she wouldn't have to do that often.
She put her luggage down, and looked up at the place. It was a little old looking, but she bet that it was beautiful on the inside. She couldn't wait to get in there, and just settle in.
She couldn't believe that her transfer from Brooklyn was made possible by Lexi, a girl she met at Eastern Beach, whom she barely knew. A girl who had grown to be a great friend to her in such a short time.
She laughed to herself "Well, Goodbye Brooklyn, Hello Bronx!" She shouted out loud to no one in particular.
(OOc: Okay baby, here goes nothing!)

Lexi laughed when Jewel shouted and opened the gate before stepping inside. She was glad the trip was over and that there had been no problems. She hadn't even seen any of the lodgers and she was very thankful for that. Although she had no problems with any of them she didn't know what they're reactions would be to Jewel leaving Brooklyn and moving to the Bronx so she'd rather avoid it altogether.
"I'm glad your so excited," Lexi said as she pushed some hair off of her face. "I'm not sure who all is here but we're going to be having a house meeting one day soon so you'll meet a lot of people then." She had been wanting to see Dodger before then, but it wasn't as if she was going to search him out when they would be seeing each other soon enough. However, she did plan on searching out her brother one day soon and find out exactly where he had been and what was going on with him.

Jewel followed Lexi through the front gates, and looked around at her surroundings. She didn't see many people around.
"Oh, I'm completely elated! I just can't believe that I get to kiss Brooklyn good-bye. Thank you so much again for this, Lexi." she exclaimed excitedly.
Jewel then heard the words 'house meeting'. "Wow, a chance to meet the others...this is what I was hoping for. I hope they accept me." she said.
"By the way, Lexi. At this house meeting? Do I get to meet everyone, including the boys?" she asked with a very sly smile.
Jewel was beyond happy. What a day this has been for her. She makes a new friend, whom without any questions asked, offer her a chance for sanctuary...and for this? Jewel was completely grateful.

Lexi laughed at the girls unabashed enthusiasm. She wondered if this was how Jewel always was and thought it might be a breath of fresh air for her. It was nice to have someone around who was so talkative, it helped keep her thoughts off other things. "I'm glad you're happy."
"Yes, there will be boys." She chuckled again, feeling as though she were talking to a younger sister. At one point in her life Lexi had been a lot like Jewel though probably more reckless, but that had changed. The attitude made Jewel seem more innocent somehow and Lexi hoped that didn't change about the girl.
Lexi wagged her finger playfully at Jewel, "Get to know them before you decide they're for you though." She didn't want Jewel to have a repeat of what had happened in Brooklyn because she didn't want Jewel to feel like she had to leave. "I'm not sure if all the boys will come, but most of them will probably show up."
She knew it would be easy for the girl to develop a crush on any one of them. A lot of them were handsome as well as charismatic, but she didn't want Jewel to get hurt. She may have to talk with a few to keep their charms to themselves until the girl at least got settled in. "I'm sure you're gonna love it here."

Jewel nodded quickly. She didn't know what else to say, so she hugged Lexi, picking her up a little bit as she did so.
"Oh yeah, I'm beyond elated, Lexi. I really don't know how many times I can thank you for helping me kiss Brooklyn goodbye." she said.
Jewel raised an eyebrow as Lexi wagged her finger at her. It reminded her of something Lydia used to do to her when they were younger. But, this time, she laughed it off, and batted her eyelashes innocently.
"Who me? Of course I will get to know the boys first. I wouldn't wanna cause any kind of trouble while I'm here. I will be on my best behavior... Honest." she said, doing the 'cross my heart' gesture.
"So, how are the girls here anyway? I really hope they are nothing like I used to deal with...they were a bunch of crazy bitches. Pardon my language." she said quickly.
Just then, Jewel looked down at what she had been wearing. It was her usual 'work outfit'. A pair of grey pants, a white shirt, and a grey vest with her matching hat. She had never in her lifetime wore pants.
"Umm Lexi? One more favor? Do yo know where I can get some decent clothes. I've been dying to get out of these pants. Pants have never really been my style." Jewel sighed.

Lexi let out a small noise that resembled 'eep' when she was not only pulled into a hug but lifted off her feet. She knew Jewel was overenthusiastic, but this made her feel short and she didn't like it. She got enough of that with people like her brother, boyfriend, River, and Lefty around. "No problem," She said as Jewel let her go and stepped back. "I'm sure you're gonna love it here."
She laughed at Jewel's 'innocent' behavior and shook her head. "You won't cause problems, but some of the boys are rather charming. I don't want to see you get hurt." She gave her a sweet smile and wrapped her shawl tighter around her shoulders.
Lexi shrugged at her language, not in the least bit offended. If she let herself be offended by that then she wouldn't be able to be around most of the men here let alone herself. She didn't curse often but when she did it resembled that of a sailor. "I don't know the girls of Brooklyn personally, but they've never bothered me." She hated saying anything bad against someone who had never crossed her personally. And she wouldn't say anything bad about Brooklyn considering one of theirs had put his life on the line for her little brother. She had looked for the man when she was in Brooklyn wanting to thank him but hadn't been able to find him.
"The girls here are lovely, Jewel. I'm sure you'll get along just fine with them." Her smile had tightened for a fraction of a second before relaxing into her normal smile. Before she could change her mind, Lexi decided to ask Jewel about the Brooklyn newsie on her mind. "Jewel..." She trailed off for a moment, chewing on her lower lip. "Do you know a boy named Zeke that lives at the Brooklyn lodging house?"
She figured she owed him a thank you for what he risked and for bringing her brothers body back to her. She could only imagine how something like that would impact him. Reid had seemed torn up about it and wouldn't let Lexi see more then Perry's face before they buried him. When Jewel asked her for a favor, Lexi thought for a moment. "I'm not sure, most of us don't really own extra skirts. We can look around though. I know there's a few trunks in one of the closets, maybe one has a skirt left behind by someone."

Jewel put Lexi down, and smiled at her "I'm sure that I will love it here, Lexi" she said, letting out a small chuckle.
Jewel smirked in a sly manner. Her mind was working overtime suddenly.
"Oh, that's good. I've had my share of charming men in my life. There's no man who's smile and charm I can't handle. On the other hand, it depends on the intensity of the charm." She said.
Jewel inhaled and exhaled a sigh of relief when Lexi mentioned how nice the girls were there.
"Oh, thank the lord. Well, I can't wait to meet them all." She said, running her hand through her hair as she took off her hat to let it down.
Just then Jewel stiffened up at Lexi's mention of Zeke. Jewel dropped her head suddenly, and blew out a frustrated breath.
"Yeah, I kinda know Zeke, but not very well. I've heard that he's kind of a ladies man though. Why do you ask, Lexi?" She asked her.
At the mention that the fact that Lexi may have spare skirts lying around, Jewel clapped her hands excitedly.
"Oh god, thanks again. Now I can go back to dressing like a real woman." She said.

Lexi laughed again, she was really enjoying Jewel's company. The girls zest for life was rubbing off on her and it was a nice change of pace. "Let's hope so, because there are plenty of boys around here with charming smiles."
Lexi glanced away and rubbed the back of her neck uncomfortable without even realizing what she was doing. It wasn't that she had anything against Jewel but she didn't particularly want to spill her life story. That wasn't her way, so she just shrugged. "Just have something to talk to him about."
She started turning towards the house but stopped and turned back, "You know it isn't just Brooklyn girls who wear pants." She was a little offended but didn't let it show in her tone because that wasn't her way. Just because a woman wore pants didn't mean she wasn't a real woman. "Come on...let's go see what we can find you."

Jewel laughed a little bit. She had been around Banshee, the one she called 'cute and mysterious' that one time, and although she couldn't resist him, she didn't jump in his lap at least.
"Trust me, Lexi. I may not be able to resist a handsome face most of the time, but that doesn't mean I can't control myself if I'm in front of a guy... I'm gonna try not to get hurt this time. That's why I'm just not gonna jump into anything too quickly." She explained to Lexi with a smile.
Jewel sighed as she heard what Lexi said about women wearing pants. She rolled her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Lexi. I didn't mean nothin' by it. Its just that I've never worn pants a day in my life. It's always been Dresses and Skirts for me. So, I apologize for anything I might've said that was wrong." She sighed, hanging her head.

Lexi grinned and patted her shoulder, "It's alright. Just wanted to let you know." She wasn't someone who got annoyed and held a grudge. She got over stuff fairly quickly, which is why she didn't argue with many people. Well, save her brother, but that was understandable he was family after all.
"Do you want to see if we can find a skirt for you now?" She asked with a smile. Her mind was still elsewhere but she figured looking through musty old trunks would help with that. She wasn't sure why she wanted to speak with Zeke so badly, but the urge had hit her the other day. She figured she'd get her chance eventually and she didn't want to think about it right now.

Jewel nodded at Lexi, knowing she was trying to give her a fair warning. But something was still on her mind
"Well, just so I don't make any mistakes of the worst kind while I'm here... who out of the boys is taken?" she asked out of curiosity.
She remembered that Lexi had mentioned Zeke "Well let's see... he should be at the Lodging House in Brooklyn if anywhere." she said.
Jewel didn't wanna pry any further about Lexi and Zeke, so she quickly changed the subject.
"Ummm yeah, let's see if we can find me a skirt, Lexi. That's a great idea. I would like that. So, I hope you don't mind me asking... But do you have a man of your own?" she asked her.
*Easy, Jewel. Don't get too personal with her. She brought you here, she could take you out just as easily. she thought to herself.
Jewel shook her head quickly "I'm sorry, I hope I wasn't being getting too personal." she said.

Lexi thought for a moment and shrugged, "Honestly I'm not sure about all of them." She hadn't been in the mood to keep up with people's love lives over the past few months. She'd hadn't even been able to do anything about her own and it was worrying her a bit. She blushed a bit before responding, "Well, I do know that Dodger is taken. Other then that though, you're gonna have to wait it out to find out. Sorry."
Lexi shrugged, "I don't mind you asking. I'm seeing Dodger, hence knowing he is taken." She gave the girl a bright smile and turned to head in the house once more. "Alright let's get you taken care of."

((New Day: For Lexi))
Avalanche couldn't help but enjoy the beautiful weather. With the great weather the work at the docks had become something a little more common. This meant he made more money, but had less time to go for walks around New York like he had enjoyed doing so much when the weather was colder. However, today was a beautiful exception for the weather was nearly perfect. It was just warm enough and just cool enough. There was hardly any wind and the birds were singing in the trees that were on the side streets. He was heavenly.
A day like this made him wish he could be with his friends, so he decided to work on just that. He hadn't been called into work that day, it was his day off. He headed up from Brooklyn, through Queens, and part of Manhattan, eventually he landed himself in the Bronx early in the afternoon, and directly in front of the women's lodging house. As he'd walked through the areas of the city he'd waved to Prince, and said hello to his friends in Manhattan and now as he leaned against the front gate, lighting a cigarette his thoughts drifted to Lexi. He wondered if she was home, and if he'd get to see her this afternoon. After all, Lexi was one of his best friends, and he found it rather comical that they were nearly a foot different in height. He struck a match and leaned against the wall to avoid the breeze to light his cigarette.

Lexi walked through the borough enjoying the pleasant weather on her way home from work. She'd been pulling a lot of extra shifts and although she was physically tired her mind was still far to alert for her to rest. This kind of weather always brought her a second wind and she enjoyed taking her time walking home. That was usually when the craziness would set in. Her mind drifted towards Dodger and she wondered how he was doing. She hadn't seen much of him since he'd been helping River get settled into his new position as leader of the Bronx. She didn't hold it against him because she'd been equally as busy with work, but she did miss him. She also missed Avalanche and she wondered what he was doing and how he was.
Lexi hummed quietly under her breath as she turned onto the street that housed the lodging house. As she got closer and realized the object of her thoughts was loitering outside of the house she couldn't help but smile broadly and pick up her pace. Once she was within hearing distance she called a hello to him. "I was just thinking about you!" She exclaimed as she came to a stop in front of him. "What brings you to the Bronx?" She had to tilt her head back to look him in the eye but she was used to that sort of thing. She knew she was rather short but she didn't mind it in the least.
