"What's the point in taking the easy way out?" Luke asked, completely at ease even as his blood began to run a little hotter at how close she was staying to him. Oh but this night did have endless possibilities - Sonkai had endless possibilities, especially if this was just the starter. "Good, hard work is so much more...satisfying," Luke commented, lifting his glass and taking another long sip, able to tell now that he was pushing well into that hazy area where his senses were heightened but before he lost them completely. He'd make it a point not to push beyond that - there would be no fun in that for either himself or Sonkai.
"And what are you a fan of, darling?" He wanted to know exactly what got under her skin, what made that perfect exterior of hers crack - what made her lose control. It was an interesting situation, to have a pretty good idea of where exactly it all was leading but being in no particular rush to get there.
"Nothing is wasted on you," Luke said, shaking off her concern and letting his fingers slide a bit higher on her back, closer to the graceful arch of her neck. His fingers itched to caress and touch, to slide along fabric and heated skin but there was much to do before they reached that moment. And Luke was certain that they would before too long, but for now he was going to enjoy the verbal spar and heated conversation. "And now I find that I have to prove my worth, since you express doubts at my ability," Luke sent her a wink as he leaned a little closer and lifted a hand to brush a single strand of hair off of her shoulder.

"I never saw a point in it," She said softly as she wrapped her hand around her glass but didn't make a move to raise it to her mouth just yet. Instead her eyes traveled down to his lips at his next comment and she only broke her gaze when he lifted his own glass to them. She offered a small smirk, "I agree. There's nothing rewarding about winning the prize if you barely even lifted a finger getting there." As if, to make her point she ran her fingers back over his leg down to his knee and let them rest there.
Finally raising her glass to her lips to give herself a moment to compose her thoughts, she took a long swallow and held it close to her mouth as she answered. "All sorts of things..." She trailed off, a smirk playing at her lips. "Dancing does give on a certain fluidness with their body."
Her smirk widened into a smile, "Is that so?" She could feel his fingers running over her back and they were filling her mind with a mirage of images. She could imagine what they'd feel like running along her skin and it took all of her self-control not to shiver at the possibilities. His next words did the trick of getting under her skin and she could feel her face flush slightly, but it wasn't from embarrassment. Her eyes stayed on him as he moved closer and brushed a hair off her shoulder, raising a few goosebumps along the way. "And how exactly, are you planning on doing that?" She asked the question although the answer was obvious, but she couldn't allow herself to bow out just yet.

"I aim to lift much more than a finger," Luke said with a smirk that turned into another radiant smile, this one laced with just enough of mischief to put a twinkle in his eye. He allowed his fingers to linger where they were as his eyes settled on her own hand resting on his knee. The way that her fingers curled into the material of his pants and the possibility that lay beneath that simple touch; icy cold exterior be damned, it seemed as though Sonkai was warming to him and he liked that idea just fine. Just fine indeed.
"Dancing? I've never been much on dancing myself," Luke began, lifting his shoulder in the slightest of shrugs, though memories began to assault his mind of other times. Of places where enough drink had been flowing through his veins and the music had been just so - the Irish pubs back home always did have the best music - but he far from considered it his forte. The memories faded after a moment, blending with a much more recent one, of Sonkai moving across the stage with an effortless ease and grace that had been altogether alluring in it's own way. "I find that I'd much rather...watch," He mused, tilting his head down a little bit so he could look her in the eye and his meaning wouldn't escape her.
"Haven't quite decided just yet," Luke said, leaning a little bit closer and letting his fingers inch just the tiniest bit higher until they found naked skin at the nape of her neck. "But I imagine that I'll come up with something..." A finger hooked around a dark curl and gave it a gentle tug, smiling as he watched her in the low light. "...eventually."

Sonkai gently bit on her lower lip, mulling over the possibilities. They were as vast as an ocean and quickly bringing another light flush to her skin, barely visible under her dark skin. “I can only imagine,” She said with a wide smile, causing the dimple at the side of her mouth to deepen. She didn’t pull her hand from his knee, although part of her was warning her that she should. She could still play coy and brush him away, feigning tiredness, but she didn’t want to. The moment her eyes had landed on him, she had known what she wanted and she was enjoying getting there. He became more and more intriguing as the night wore on and she was starting to seriously consider if he could possibly live up to his own hype.
She quickly finished her drink and set the empty glass on the bar once more. She shook her head though when the bartender shot her a questioning look. Anymore whiskey tonight and she certainly wouldn’t remember much more of the night. “I thought as much,” She said with a smile, understanding exactly what he was saying. “You never did strike me as someone who would enjoy the act of dancing as much as the act of being danced for.” He seemed to be having no problems being blunt and she saw no reason not to do the same.
Her breath caught when his fingers brushed against her neck and he hooked a finger around one of her curls. It was most likely clear as day in her eyes how she felt, but she refused to give herself away in any other form even though she could feel her heart racing in her chest. “Is that so? Please do let me know when you settle on something,” She said with a smirk.

"I never turn down a good show," Luke agreed, his eyes turning a bit darker as he considered the possibilities of getting such a dance from Sonkai - perhaps privately, away from the crowd and the eyes of other men who might enjoy the view as well. No, Luke thought, that was something that he thought he'd like to keep just to himself. Because the edge of some of the alcohol had worn off and the air between them was heavy with a humming sort of tension, Luke took another sip from his glass, all the while keeping his gaze steady on her.
"You wouldn't mind if I watched, Sonkai, would you?" Luke murmured, his fingers still toying with the curl, sliding it between his fingers, enjoying the soft silkiness of it. He wondered what it would feel like to drive his hand into her thick tresses, and guide her mouth to his - take what he longed for. "If it were just you and me, all alone..." He let his words hang in the air, reluctant to go on and put into words what his imagination was doing a fine job of filling in the blanks on.
"Something tells me when I settle on something you'll know it," Luke said, finally dropping his hand away from her hair and reaching for his glass and taking another healthy sip before setting it aside. Oh Sonkai got his blood going alright, in all the right ways and he had no doubt that they were both going to enjoy the figurative dance they had entered into - but it was Luke's intent that she find what came after just as fulfilling.

His words were full of promises that his eyes were begging to fulfill. She could tell that both of their minds were already somewhere else, somewhere where it wouldn't just be words, but actions. Sonkai knew it was only a matter of a simple invitation back to her rooms, but she wasn't quite ready to issue it yet. "No, I doubt you do." She smirked and ran her finger around the rim of her empty glass, her eyes averting from his for a moment.
At his question she couldn't help but revert her attention back to him. "I can do you one better then not minding, Luke." She said, leaning close enough to whisper in his ear. "I can tell you I'd rather enjoy it." As she pulled away, a coy smile played at her lips. It was only a matter of time before this did progress to the next stage and they ended up back at her place. She was definitely going to enjoy herself when that happened. Her eyebrow rose a bit and she flashed him a large smile. "All alone....Interesting..." She couldn't help but continue to tease, she was finding it was second nature at this point in the conversation.
"I'm sure you'll find a way of making it abundantly clear." She lifted her fingers from his leg and brought her hand up to brush back her hair. "Are you nearly finished with your drink?" She asked with a smirk on her face. "I have a bottle of bourbon in my rooms, unless you were going to go back to your game." She gave a small wave of her hand in the general direction of the table he'd previously been at. She knew what his answer would be and her tone of voice showed it. She was fairly confident that this game had been played out. Sure, she could keep going back and forth but she found she would much rather take this somewhere else.

Her voice was soft in his ear and he could feel the warm puff of her breath as she spoke, words holding promises that he hope she fully intended on keeping. She pulled back and Luke got a good look at her body once again, the way she had curves in all the right places and how the dress she wore accented them all - and the fun he'd have exploring them all. It was true that there was something to be said for the dance, for the chase, but there was also a time to know when it was done and Luke was quickly approaching that point.
"My drink?" Luke said, arching his eyebrow as he grabbed his glass and quickly downed the rest of the contents. "...is finished." He grinned at her then, following it with a wink and a bit of a laugh as she motioned in the direction of his abandoned card game. "I think that I've emptied enough pockets for one evening," He waved off her faux concern for the card game, knowing full well that they both had the same thought in mind, the same goal and Luke was so looking forward to that prospect.
"I believe you said something about bourbon?" He prompted, pushing himself out of his seat so that he was standing beside her, closer than he had been before and now able to study her delicate features. "And your rooms," Luke said softly, his hand coming up to rest on the back of her stool as he leaned casually a little bit closer. "I think I would like to see your rooms."

She grinned when Luke finished his drink at her prompting and said he was done playing for the night. Sonkai had known it would be his answer, but there was no problem in still playing her part. Even if it was a done deal that they were going to be going back to her room to continue this conversation and see where it lead them. "That I did," She replied, her mind already back in her rooms.
Sonkai turned her head and smirked, "Let's go then, Mr. Gallagher." Holds her hand out for him to take and when he does she stepped gracefully down from the bar stool. She lead him out of the main room and towards the backstage where the stairs were to go to her rooms. She ignored the girls she passed on her way, not caring what they're thoughts were on her taking Luke to her room. She knew more then some of them slept with multiple customers and this would be the first man entering her domain since she'd moved to New York.
