"Funny how these things happen," Daisy said, a smile scattering across her lips. "One minute Peem was just the friend who was there for me and then the next...he was so much more." She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "I'd have never made it through losing Pie without him and now, now he means so much to me."

Lucky looked at her friend and nodded, "Aye, that is the way of things. He's a good man and you will do good things for him.." But Lucky herself wasn't a good person and there was cause to wonder if she was good for anybody at all let alone Sneaks. But, she needed him and she was a selfish woman. "Dodger doesn't count friends lightly, in truth in all the years I've known him he's only had a few he trusted. He trust Peem more then all of them put together and that is saying something."

"Aye, I know Peem is someone to be counted on...I care for him a great deal," Daisy acknowledged, wondering at the sadness she still saw edging into Lucky's eyes, but she didn't say anything to it, instead she just lapsed into silence, standing there with her friend.

"You are a good person, bella.." she said softly, a slight smile on her lips as she patted the other girls arm. She was more then willing to trust her and that in itself was frightening. She let out a sigh and leaned her head back against the brick building. "In the end Daisy there isn't anyone else for me.. without him.. there really is no me.." Sneaks was the part of her that kept trying, the decent side of her.

"Then we shall find him, aye?" Daisy said softly, squeezing the girl's shoulder in return, desperately wishing that there was more that she could offer. "And I am no better than most, Lucky...I just want to see people smile is all."

Lucky looked at her, eyes gaging the other girl. "You offer what people in this city need most.. a kind word, a warm smile and a gentleness we all need but deny. It's an admirable trait and I hope.. that it never fades."

"Aye...I hope not as well," Daisy said softly. It was a foolish thing, to wish that she could give people some small hope, brighten their days with a smile. But she did what she could, because in her darkest days, the kindness of strangers had made the difference. "You know, you should come by McGinty's more...it'd be good to see you."

Lucky nodded, "Aye.. I'll come in to see you, and get a drink or two. I miss the old place.."

"We'd be glad to have you," Daisy promised her with a wide smile. She glanced up at the sky for a moment, noticing it was beginning to darken as the sun sunk low in the sky. "I should be getting back to Brooklyn."

((New Day))
Bumlets was sitting on the steps, tossing his broom handle from one hand to the other. He'd needed a breather, all that chirping in the lodging house and the lack of Mush and the others being around lately was really staring to get to him. He didn't mind the girls really but they got so-- clucky. He could only handle so much at a time.
He was quiet by nature, observant and rarely said more than a few words to anyone. The girls were a little to much for him with their arguing and flirting and their fluttering lashes. Half the time he'd rather stand up to Spot Conlon then deal with all those girls and their clucking and squacking.

Crutchy had a great day of selling. He even got two quarters, one from a women who felt sorry for him, and another from a gentleman who also felt sorry for him. When Crutchy turned the corner to the lodging house, he saw Bumblets looking sad. " Whats wrong with you today Bumblets" said crutchy sounding concerned about his friend.

Sad? No Bumlets looked out and out freaked out. He lifted his head and gave a light wave with his broomstick. "Wrong?" he asked quietly, then again it was Crutchy so he shrugged. "Just needed to get away from all the chicks in the lodging house is all--" The girls, he called them chicks-- short for chickens. Or birds-- fowl. He couldn't really handle all the women.
