NEW DAY Richie sat at the corner table with a stern expression on his face, trying to take in what was being told to him. Truth be told, he had stopped paying full attention after the first 15 minutes of the 30 minute long conversation. It's not that he was bored or indifferent to the information. Quite the contrary. The relayer of information thought it would be wise to give the bad news before anything elese. No Richie's mind was only one place and it wasn't on what this guy was telling him. Richie could feel himself getting hot and his eyes smolder as he put his fist over his mouth in an attempt to keep what he was thinking from coming out his mouth. As if able to read his mind, the man calmly stood, "I made sure you were the one to take care of this." He picked his hat up from the table and waved a waitress over before placing it atop his head. "Stay here and calm down a little. Have a drink on me." Richie nodded his head and sat back in his chair, watching the man leave. He was unsure of what he should do. He knew what he WANTED to do, but he had to play it smart for once. One thing was sure, the burning liquid that eased its way down his throat wasn't doing a good job of keeping him calm.

She had been busy selling her papes all day and avoiding trouble with her superior's men that she knew tended to keep an eye on her, but other than that her day had been decent. She had made a decent chunk of change in her sells and figured what better thing to do than to head to McGinty's for a much needed drink. She walked through the door and slid into the open barstool she usually occupied when no one else did and she ordered a scotch on the rocks. She had lost her hat at some point today so her lovely hair toppled into her semi-pale face and her pretty blue eyes.
She reached for the glass and took a long drink as she looked down at her black skirt and her white button up blouse and her black heeled boots that adorned her body. She rolled up her sleeves briefly before something caught her attention, two males were talking at a table and she could sense the hostility and tension. When one got up and left she allowed her eyes to glance toward the one that remained. She took her glass in her hand and put some change on the counter before she curiously strolled over to the table the man occupied.
She looked him over for a brief moment, it wouldn't surprise her if he was a high end guy in some nasty business, but she was used to that type anyway. "Hi there... you seem quite upset, can I buy you a drink?" she asked, her voice soft and sweet as she allowed her eyes to attempt to meet his.

Richie scanned the girl that stood in front of him with eyes cold as ice. She was easy enough to look at, which was really saying something for a girl in Brooklyn. A grin appeared on his face, though his eyes never did warm up. What the hell, he thought. Since the drink wasn't working in his favor, he could use a nice skirt to lift his spirits.
He downed the rest of the contents in his cup. "If you insist."

Baby smiled and waved a waitress over as she slid into the seat across from him and crossed her legs, setting her glass down infront of her. She looked to him and eyed him for a moment looking at his glass,"You look like a whiskey guy, maybe scotch... umm get him both and put it on my tab, I'll pick it up on my way out like I always do," she told the waitress and then she downed the rest of her scotch and handed the lady her glass to refill before watching her head back to the bar. Baby looked back to him and tilted her head running a hand through her hair,"I'm Baby by the way and might I catch your name handsome?"she asked him, her voice never leaving its soft sweet tone that it almost always held.

"Richie." By this time his grin had turned into a full blown smile. This girl was something else. She looked relatively young, but carried herself in a way that suggested otherwise. She definitely stood out in the dark pub filled with New York's worst. Her name suited her, although he'd hold his tongue as to why.
"Baby, huh?" He grabbed the whiskey the waitress brought to the table. He was never a hard scotch man. Maybe he enjoyed it when there wasn't whiskey around. "What's a sweet tart like you doing in a place like this all alone? It's none too safe."

She grinned as she watched him drink and she leaned back in her seat abit as she accepted her glass from the waitress once more and brought it to her lips taking a long drink before she brought it away from her lips and swirled the glass abit listening to the ice clink around against the glass. "Well Richie, however unsafe it is around here, it is nothing I am not used to.... compared to some of the things I have witnessed in my 16 years, this place and the streets at night are nothing... but I apprecciate your concern, you seem quite charming, whats got you so down and upset love?"she asked him as she looked him over again bringing her drink back to her lips and managing to hide the slight pink color that was threatening to touch her cheeks, he was quite cute and he spoke so smoothly, it was nice to be in his company.

Richie raised a brow, a bit interested in what it was she was used to that made sitting with him a walk in the park. "It's not the night streets you have to be worried about. Hardly anything happens after dark. The cops are expectin' it." He pointed to his head, playfully telling her to use hers. He tapped his empty glass on the table, at the mention of him being upset. He had almost forgot about the news he'd received and what needed to be done about it. He glanced around the pub casually to check if he was being scouted, before turning his attention back to Baby.
His voice was steady and had lost some of it's playfulness from before. "I wouldn't worry myself about any of that if I were you, doll."

She nodded at his words and then shrugged it off abit as she leaned forward, uncrossed her legs and rested her elbows on the table and leaned even more forward so that her face was decently close to his as she now allowed her eyes to look into his for a long moment and she swirled her glass again."Alright then, but still I do not worry much about anything, I can handle myself quite well..."she said as she brought one of her arms off of the table and her hand to move her skirt to the side abit, it was getting rather hot with all the smoke in the air and more people trickling in here and there. After adjusting her skirt she brought her arm back up to the table and kept both elbows on the table's surface. "Well lets forget about whatever is upsetting either one of us at this point and just enjoy one another's company then shall we?" she asked him as she tilted her head, allowing her hair to cascade to the right and reveal her fragile neck as she allowed a sigh to escape her lips, for a newsie she definately knew how to handle herself and present herself as higher simply because of her mafia involved past.

"I'm sure you can," he said with a wink and a smile. There was no sarcasm in his voice. He'd learned not to judge a book by it's cover. "Actually I should be goin'. Business before pleasure."
At her offer, he decided to decline. It was getting late and there was business to be done and quite frankly, he was bored of the girl. Richie did bore easily. He stood from his seat and tipped his hat to her as a farewell. "Thanks for the drink, sweets."

She nodded at his comment stating he should leave, part of her wanted to stop him but she wasn't one to look pathetic and needy. She downed the rest of her drink and slid out of her seat standing up and straightening the wrinkles out of her skirt before she looked to him one more time,"Any time... hopefully we'll see each other again when you are less busy, have a good night Richie, it was nice meeting you," she said as she nodded to him before heading back to the bar. She handed the bartender the payment for the drinks before she looked back over her shoulder at Richie winked at him and then headed out the door. She wasn't quite sure if she was going to head straight back to the lodging house but she just wanted to leave before she decided to drink herself stupid. She wasn't too observant on the two guys that had happened to follow her out of the pub as she headed down the street.
She had known she'd been having an eye kept on her, but they were never supposed to follow her especially at night, that was shady business. She rounded the corner down the street from the pub and slipped into the nearest alleyway, she knew her way around these streets even though she was not a Brook, she was around enough to know the routes. She could hear the mens' footsteps behind her, but she was no fool, she had her blade tucked away in her corset under her blouse just in case. She stopped at the end of the alley and turned around a small smirk on her face as both men stopped in their tracks and looked at her almost surprised.
"What do you want now?" she asked. One of the men approached her and grabbed her by the wrist looking at her for a moment,"You're comin with us, boss's orders," he said beginning to pull her in the opposite direction from where she needed to go. She groaned abit, the man had quite the grip on her and she couldn't exactly reach for her blade at this moment. "I suggest you get your hands off of me if ya know whats good for you buddy, the boss doesnt like his toys broken,"she scowled.
