As Alex listened to Lexi talk and say that she was fine he blinked a couple of times and then shrugged it off, deciding not to think too awful much of it. "Mmkay," he said nodding as he turned to sit back down across from her again. "I gotta say, good thinkin' coming here to warm up," he said. "Very good plan, because had I stayed outside, I probably would have gotten pretty sick. I think we made it just in time though," or so he hoped they did.
He leaned back in his chair as the waitress brought back the beers and menus. "Great! Thanks!" Alex said as he accepted the menus and handed one to Lexi. "Order whatever you want," he said. He smiled slightly at her and then started glancing through the menu. Soup sounded like a great plan... would warm him up and it just sounded good. He took a sip of the beer and smiled. He was definitely feeling warmer already.

Lexi's features softened and her blush abated as Alex stated he thought they might have made it to the bar before he got cold enough to get sick. She wasn't so sure about that. The dunk he'd taken in the river hadn't been pretty, but maybe with the warmth of the bar and a bit of alcohol it wouldn't be too bad. "Well, I'll be sure to visit in the coming days to make sure you aren't sick." One thing Lexi was excellent at was taking care of people too sick to take care of themselves. She had an amazing immune system and rarely got sick other then a small cold. Plus, she enjoyed taking care of the people who she cared about.
Lexi shot the waitress a grateful smile while she sipped the drink that was set in front of her. When Alex told her to order whatever she wanted she shrugged her shoulders absently, not entirely certain what she wanted. "Just a bowl of stew would be wonderful," She decided finally. It was a good choice for such chilly weather and it always managed to warm her straight to the core. She continued to sip her drink, slowly, not wanting it to go to her head.

Alex nodded with a bright smile. "You'd come all the way down to Brooklyn just to check on me? Ya too much girly... you dun gotta do that," he reassured her. He could definitely take care of himself if he needed to. And if nothing else, he could always call up Red to come and take his temperature. Or he figured he could anyway. He looked down at his menu and then looked at her over the top of it with a small and sort of secretive smile that she wouldn't be able to see behind the menu. He didn't think she'd notice him looking.
He looked down again and agreed silently before saying, "Yeah, soup sounds good good dun it? Oddly and simply enough, well maybe we can get something really good for dessert," he said with a sly smile, tempting her a little bit. He took another sip of his beer and then glanced at her and chuckled. "You uh... grew a mustache," he cautioned her. She had a little bit of the foam from the beer on her lip. While it was adorable, he had a feeling that she would disagree.

"Of course I do, you're my friend. Plus I like taking care of sick people, if they complain too much I just shove a pillow in their face." Lexi replied with a teasing smile. Besides it would be nice to get out of the Bronx at least for a little while. River could handle the borough on his own for a few days. It would be amusing to hear how he handled the girls problems when she wasn't around. Lexi glanced at her menu even though she knew what she was going to get. Ever since she thought of the stew her mouth had been watering over it. She really wanted to have a bowl.
"Soup sounds wonderful," She replied with a grin. "Like what?" She asked with a laugh. She wasn't sure what type of desserts a place like this would make but she was sure they'd have at least one or two. Lexi giggled when Alex told her she had grown a mustache and wiped her mouth quickly. "Foam will do that to you," Lexi said still giggling.

"If you were to ever move to Brooklyn for a week, of course I"d welcome you with open arms. But it would be your choice, not because I asked you to come and take care of me," he reminded her with a sideways smile. He glanced down at the menu again, and even thought himself silly. He already knew what he wanted as well, so why was he continuing to look? He sat it down.
"Most bars," he said absently, "usually have some sort of sundae or something," he said as he shrugged. "And personally, I think it sounds wonderful about now," he said with a grin. He chuckled at her wiping off the mustache. and leaned back in his chair. The waitress returned.
"I'll have a bowl of chicken noodle soup please, and some bread along with it," he added as he handed her the menu. The waitress turned to Lexi, awaiting her order as well.

Lexi grinned, "Well you wouldn't be the first person I took care of without being asked to." She took care of a majority of the kids that ran around the Bronx lodging houses. She'd always had a maternal instinct when it came to sick kids. It had grown when Perry had died. Instead of just taking care of her brothers, now she took on all of the kids she knew. "Hmm... a sundae, huh?"
She'd never been a fan of sundae's but she wasn't going to rain on Alex's parade by telling him that. Instead, she offered him a bright smile before responding, "That sounds good."
Lexi turned her attention towards the waitress as Alex placed his order and the girl turned towards her. "Oh, uh a bowl of stew." Lexi nodded and flipped shut the menu still in her hand and giving it to the waitress. Once the girl turned to leave, Lexi turned her attention towards staring at her drink rather then Alex.

He gave her a great smile before handing his menu to the waitress as well and giving her an appreciative smile. He looked back at Lexi to find her starring into her drink. He glanced over at his shirt and stood up to go and see if it was dry. Not only was it not dry, it was hardly warm. He sighed and walked back over to the table. He was a little cold without long sleeves but he relaxed all the same, just trying to warm up with the fire.
He looked up at Lexi again. "Awfully quiet...." he said as he looked around the room and then back to her. "Everything alright girly?" he asked with one of his famous charming smiles at her. He hoped so and that she was avoiding his gaze for some other reason. He hoped that he would be able to make her smile, one way or another, if nothing else!

Lexi raised her eyes when she realized Alex had walked over to the fireplace before lowering them once more when he turned to come back. She nodded her head quickly at his question, "Uh-huh. Just hungry I guess." Truth was, she was more then a bit embarrassed but she wasn't going to say anything.
With a small sigh, Lexi glanced around the room. There weren't too many other people in the pub and the few that were there were sitting at the tables that surrounded the fireplace. She supposed there was no better way to spend a cold day like today then drinking an ale and sitting by a fire. The only thing that would make it better would be roasting marshmallows. "How's work going?"

He smiled at her all the same and leaned back a little in his chair trying to get warm as he rubbed his arms with his hands. "Well if ya sure," he said with a small shrug. How was work. "oooooh, ya know," he said with a shrug, "more of the same, I guess," he said with a shrug. "I like the docks, I like the ships and the people, just wish there was somethin' else I could do down there huh? I mean, unloadin' 'em gets real repetitive day after day." At least when he was a newsie the headlines changed, the cargo hardly did anymore, and even if it did, it was still packed in sealed crates that had to be lifted and moved. Though he did enjoy the freedom, all the same...
A few moments later the waitress returned, and refilled their drinks and then was off again. "How about you?" he asked as he watched the waitress leave. He leaned forward slightly in his seat as he warmed up a little more. "You likin' your multiple situations of employment alright?" he asked her with a teasing grin and then took another sip of his drink. He liked relaxing here with her, it was fun.
