NEW DAY ~ OPEN [/b][/i] After making his bet Finn made his way towards a vendor to grab a beer before taking a seat. It wasn't often he came to watch the horses race but he had nothing better to do today. Luke was doing God only knew what and he had no reason to work today since he had plenty of money for the moment. He figured he might as well waste a bit on horses. They'd never been his thing so he knew better then to think he was actually going to win. Cards was more his game and he could almost guarantee he'd win as long as Derek wasn't sitting at the table. Then again he had learned his lesson on playing cards with Derek long ago and wasn't going to voluntarily play cards with him again. He sipped the beer in his hand and relaxed back in his chair as he waited for the race to start. He'd only bet on one of the races since he didn't think he'd be getting any of his money back but he planned to stay and watch all four of them. Maybe he'd see a mark that he could work on later. For some reason rich New Yorkers enjoyed wasting their money betting on horses. He'd rather waste his money on liquor, but that was just him.

Charlotte's son Aidan had a tight hold of her hand as she walked him along the track. It was, quiet-- really. Oddly enough she'd been working her hands to the bone in the kitchens, doing her own intel on the food in the area. She was not an official member of the points only working in the legitimate areas because she never HAD been the type. But the woman had been through hell, losing a husband, even one that had stalked her as much as Gideon had to get her to even look at him. It was funny too look back now.
"Finn! Finn!" her son yanked loose and went off on a tear, her eyes widened and she took off after him, tall enough she didn't have his gift for weaving through the crowd. After the boy launched at Finn, Charlotte got to them, trying to breath.
"Lad ya don' run off.." it was muttered as she caught her breath.

Finn raised his head when he heard his name called and scanned the crowds of people looking for the source. It didn't take him long to notice the small figure darting around people and the woman following. A small smile crossed his face as Aidan threw himself onto Finn. Automatically, Finn wrapped his arms around the boy so they wouldn't both go toppling over. When Charlotte reached them and spoke he let go of Aidan and gently set him back on his feet. Thankfully he'd set his beer down before Aidan came running at him. He picked it up before nodding, "You should listen to your ma."
This was the last place he'd expect to see Charlotte Keegan or her son. Finn took a sip of his beer as he glanced between the two of them before speaking again. "What brings you two to the races?" Normally he wouldn't even ask, but it was indeed a curious thing to see them here. He'd thought Charlotte would take Aidan to the park or Coney Island over the horse track.

Charlotte folded her arms as she watched her boy cling before putting her hand on his head, the little boy was chattering away a mile a minute. "I'm gonna see horses."
"He wants to see the horses," Charlotte replied with a shrug. "Though I got a hot tip, and no it wasn't form a newsboy. Figured I might want to see if I could make a little money.." Despite her mature and often stern self, she had a flare for the dramatic in some ways and an occasional bet was the same as any other. Folding her arms she waved the ticket against her face, even though it was cold she'd been a bit under the weather. "What do you think? Storm Born?"

Finn laughed as they both spoke about the horses. He patted Aidan's shoulder and gently set him in the seat beside him before taking a drink from his beer. "So what do ya think of the horses, lad?" Finn gave Charlotte a smirk before turning his full attention to her son for a moment. Finn had always given Aidan attention when he was around. He figured the kid probably didn't get much from most of the other Point members. Finn knew for a fact that Killian went out of his way to avoid him.
After Aidan answered his question, Finn lifted his eyes to Charlotte again. "So where'd the tip come from?" He asked, a smile playing at his lips. She had never struck him as the gambling type but then again he was sure he knew very little of her just as most people, his brother aside, knew very little about him. Finn shrugged at her question, "Horses were never my think, I'm hear for the scenery." Finn replied motioning absently towards the people that were around them.

Aidan sat, his legs swinging even as his mother moved over and cocked his cap on his head. It wasn't hard to hide things about yourself, especially in the points. Charlotte stuck to cooking but no one really knew as much about her as they might. And that was on purpose, she sat down crossing her legs as her son started moving his hands. He was barely four but he was a talker. His mother encouraged it, if she had her way her boy wouldn't be afraid of anything. "The horses run, round and round and round.." the boy chattered. "So BIG and strong."
Chuckling, Charlotte shook her head as she sat on the chair next to Finn, looking down at her ticket a moment before tucking it into her muff. Finding herself grinning she folded her arms and leaned back, ankles crossed. "One of the boys that works in the kitchen, not much better than a newsboy I suppose. But why not? I win, I win I lose I lose. I play for the thrill of it." Her eyes scanned the people to and she smiled, unable to help it as she thought about it. "Plenty of nice scenery to look at here." It was a study of the human condition.
The wealthy owners crossing paths with the down and out gambler that had bet his last nickle on a horse that might never win. The people who were there for a day out, the people that were there to steal, the ones trying to make a buck. "The scenery isn't bad at all... That one, over there.." she motioned with her eyes, to the woman with her nose in the air. "I'd bet she's a new Mistress of a horse owner. He brought her to the races to show off her curves but he's pretty much ignored her. Her eyes are furious."

Finn laughed, "That they do lad." He shook his head before raising his eyes to Charlotte. "Well, I hope you didn't put a lot of money on it." Finn would never listen to a tip from someone working in their kitchens. He doubted any of them knew much about horses. If they had they wouldn't be working in the kitchen at Rac's, would they? But it was Charlotte's money to spend and Finn was the last person on the planet who was going to lecture someone on how to spend their money. He wouldn't even consider doing that with his brother, but then again Luke was fairly good with money so he'd never had to worry about it.
Finn followed her line of sight to see the woman she was pointing out. It was an interesting take on the situation and the woman was clearly furious. At who or what he didn't know but he could work with an angry woman. They tended to give into his charms and good looks easier then other women. He'd have to introduce himself to her later. Judging by her clothes she was a wealthy woman and not just because of whoever she was with. People who were born into wealth and had quite a bit of their own had a certain look about them. He'd find out all the details on her later. Finn nodded his head towards a man a few rows in front of them, "Was actually watching him for a bit. He's a regular here, seen him around a few times. He has too much money and time on his hands. He's a big spender."

She didn't mind a gamble, holding out her arms she pulled her son into her lap and let him look around her eyes direct and clear. There was something about women being born into money, but then again Lia hadn't been and she acted as if she were some kind of Duchess half the time so Charlotte never put much stock in that. She smoothed back her son's hair and readjusted the cap on his head. Truthfully she was an easy going woman for the most part, just the kind of person to sit back and people watch. She knew people and how they were made up inside, she'd spent enough time avoiding them to know how they were.
Hi motioned to the man and she watched him for a few moments, he was that. He was well dressed, but she could tell his clothes were new and so were his shoes as they hadn't a single scuff on him. When the air caught his cigar smoke she registered the grade and covered her son's nose in the same moment. "How long have you been watching him?" she asked. "And why?" her brow raised just a bit before she turned back to the man her clever brown eyes taking in minute detail. From his hair to his shoes, every thing. "He hasn't been here long he doesn't have any dust on his shoes yet."

Finn shrugged at her question, not giving a definite answer to how long he'd been watching the man. Truth be known he'd been following him around the city for the better part of the last week, but Charlotte didn't need to know that. He'd caught sight of the man a few weeks ago and had become instantly intrigued when he'd realized just how much he was spending and losing at the tracks, but the guy kept coming back. Those were the kind of men that were easy to con. It was obvious the guy threw away money like he had unlimited amounts of the stuff and that was one trait that Finn was always looking for in a mark. He'd already decided on an approach, but he was biding his time.
"Work," Finn finally answered her. He didn't like to get into the why's and what for's with anyone but Luke. It wasn't that he didn't trust the other members of Five Points but he had his side cons that he ran on his own and the money he earned from it was his personal stash for a rainy day or for retirement. "He got here a bit after I did."

<New Day>
Sarah settled back into one of the seats about halfway up, eyeing the starting gates as the horses were getting loaded in and finding the number six horse, a dark haired gorgeous one named Spades. She'd made a bet on a whim, to help make her afternoon at the race perhaps a bit more interesting and she had liked the look of him. Occasionally Sarah had found herself wandering to the track, liking the familiar scent of horses that reminded her of California and the vastly different bustle that burst forth from the stables and stands than generally was on the floor at Caprice. Her green eyes swept the crowd, taking in a group of men gathered down near the track looking over odds in the paper, the newsboys loitering just a ways off that were hanging off the fence surrounding the track and laughing as they waited for the race to start. Everywhere she looked was a feast for the eyes and it was for that reason that she gravitated here when the hours at Caprice allowed it - and with not only the day but the night off as well that evening, she had nothing but time.
Shifting, Sarah reached for and found her battered pack of cigarettes and slid one out, toying with it between her fingers as she let her shawl flutter back into place. The material was thin and barely provided any warmth, but the sun was still out and she would be warm enough for awhile yet. Her free hand smoothed down to the pocket in her dress, reaching for the pack of matches she had dropped into it before heading out, but found nothing except for the ragged edges of a hole which had swallowed the much needed matches. "Damn it all..." Sarah muttered, looking down at the cigarette in her hand and then up to see if she might find someone willing to swap a light for a flirtatious smile.
