Ladies--- ladies.. relax. It's all in fun. I agree the schools should be separate it would make more fun for us the liasons all secret and forbidden.. and we have been working on seperating the lodging houses also but that also really cuts on how many people want to be in the borough-- (you guys checked out bronx activity lately)
At any rate it's all in fun.... and they did win the first strike btw-- it was when they tried again a few years later they lost

Technically they didn't win the strike. The prices stayed the same, but they were allowed to sell back their extra papers at the end of the day. So I mean they got something, but not what they wanted.

I think this is all such a great idea. But I agree that the schools should be single sex even if the lodging houses aren't. I think we should all vote on it of course but my vote will be for single sex and I'll explain why. Although historically of course you wouldn't be likely to find female and male newsies living together and even if you did there is no way the girls would out number the boys, but the difference between the lodging houses in the school is money.
People in that day and age with money held their children at a much higher standard than people who didn't have money. I mean who really looked after orphans if they didn't live in an actual orphanage? No one. Which is why they could have possibly gotten away with housing both girls and boys in the same lodging house. No one cared. With the rich though it's a completely different story. They always had someone looking over their shoulder to make sure they weren't making the wrong moves. Especially the girls because this was still a time period where women with rich parents had to have a chaperon who would accompany them pretty much everywhere. Anyway that's just my opinion and my take on the subject. I'm really glad people are coming up with so many different ideas, it's making the game even more interesting and addicting. Although I'm not sure it can get more addicting considering I'm on here at least 5 days a week.

Dang it! I thought we let this die already!
By "don't do that" are you implying you didn't post the above guest post? If that is the case, I'm going to disable guests posts on the whole board.

We should make a yahoo group for the site. We can post RP's we do over e-mail or messenger. We could also plot OOC there and we can put up posts there the we may have between our own characters. (IE Lexi finding out about Perry's death) I think it would be beneficial to the group. Let me know what you guys think.

Yahoo Groups are going under at the end of the month, though.

Anyone still up for the private school idea? We could have groups of obnoxious prats, could be quite amusing.

Hmm I've never had any problem with the groups I've been a part of *shrug* I didn't realize Yahoo was getting rid of them.

I mentioned this to Jeanna once before, but on a different proboards site I was on, there was an "away" function where users could post an away message yet remain logged in. It's useful sometimes if you have one, but if you don't, it's not a problem.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronx_Zoo#HistoryHow about the Bronx Zoo? "Fordham University owned most of the land which became the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. Fordham sold it to the City of New York for only $1.00 under the condition that the lands be used for a zoo and garden; this was in order to create a natural buffer between the university grounds and the urban expansion that was nearing. In the 1880s, New York State set aside the land for future development as parks. In 1895, New York State chartered the New York Zoological Society (later renamed to Wildlife Conservation Society)[1] for the purpose of founding a zoo. The zoo (originally called the New York Zoological Park) opened its doors to the public on November 8, 1899, featuring 843 animals in 22 exhibits. The first zoo director was William Temple Hornaday.[2] Heins & LaFarge designed the original permanent buildings as a series of Beaux-Arts pavilions grouped around the large circular sea lion pool.[3] Many exhibits, for example World of Birds and World of Reptiles, maintain the original taxonomical arrangement, while others are arranged geographically, such as African Plains and Wild Asia."
