Hello there everyone! We'd like your opinion on this. We're thinking of changing the format of the posts, and wanted some feedback from our members.
We're trying to decide if we keep the set up the way it is or allow members to make their own threads. We'd like to hear your thoughts, and any opinions and comments you may have. Please! Only vote once (not once per character, once, just for you) and we'll let you know what we ultimately decide. Thanks everyone!

A few things to consider with the different systemsPoint: Leave the System the SameTake a lot of work/ lot of time to change - move threads or boards to sub-boards
- get rid of some extra stuff
Have to make some new rules - how many threads you can make and have at one time
- how many in each location
- the titles of the threads
With the current system you know where you are, and what's going on at all times. Counter-point: Change the system.More freedom for members to make their own threads in different locations Always an open thread - don't have to check for an open thread before you go to a different location
- you won't have to wait for a thread to be "inactive" or "dead" before posting a new day, you can just make a new thread.
Easier to see reservations, or threads with specific plot points due to custom titles. May encourage new membership Easier to find archived threads that don't have the same name as several others before them. (Multiple copies of "the fountain," for example) Also, easier to find a conversation that you and someone else had without having to go through pages of the thread where other people had a different conversation. Easier to moderate and move to archives. Won't have to make new threads every time we archive old ones These are just a few points. Feel free to add any thoughts that you have as well, be it for one point or another.

I am on other sites and feel that the best option is to change it. I feel that it's silly to have to wait for a thread to be inactive when you can just start a new one. I also think the boards should be more organized, by doing so it won't look like such a mess. Old threads need to be retired, and everyone should be allowed to have a thread where they wish, not have to post after someone else's thread. New thinking. That's the way to go.

No, I'm probably not returning, but I don't feel that should necessarily matter considering the posting was one of the issues I had with the site. It worked beautifully back when I was first on here, but after a while, and especially after doing it differently, it lost it's appeal. It's harder to find anything, harder to do anything, and it looks more cluttered than it would be otherwise. Tradition is great. Tradition is wonderful. But all the pros far outweigh the cons. I hope you figure something out, and I hope it's for the better. It would be a shame to continue doing the same old thing and having the site die over and over again. Good luck, I love you guys

Just to throw in my opinion here, I don't think it really matters one way or the other. I've never had to wait for a thread to go inactive before starting a new one, because there are SO MANY PLACES to start threads. Most of the time you've even got multiple places in each location to post in (like you've broken down the washroom boards into "sinks", "tub", etc). Seriously, if you're stalled simply by waiting for an active thread to die off before you can post, I kind of doubt the board's activity is *actually* your problem.
But on the other hand, I have had trouble with trying to find a specific set of posts within a multi-page thread consisting of several "new day" starters before. Scrapping the pre-made places and letting members create their own threads as needed would alleviate that issue, and also might cut down on issues with thread-crashing. (I don't know whether that's been an issue lately, but once upon a time there was a member or two who... well, you probably remember.)
So I guess my vote is to change, but I won't get all bent out of shape if it doesn't happen.
Also: Erica - The board layout broke recently when the board was upgraded to the new Proboards version. That's why everything looks "like such a mess". The mods need time to adapt to the new coding rules to design a new layout.

Personally, I really like the current "old" system. I think it works pretty well, it looks sharp/clean and it lends itself to variety and continuity in threads. I have never been involved with a board that has a "make your own thread" format, but I have closely considered joining few over the years and have seen them in action. Both formats have their ups and downs, as the lovely people above have pointed out. My vote is that we change the system, mainly because I think it'll be fun to try a new and different way of doing things.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to be around much (if at all) until sometime this summer, but there's my vote.
