I'm Polly. I was named by some guys who thought that being a girl meant that I couldn't be a newsie. So they gave me that girly name. Still, I've been using it for so long that it might as well be my Heaven given name, so who cares. I used to work in a book store - get that! A book store! Problem was, I could never read the books I was sellin', so the manager fired me. I still can't read, but I ain't dumb! I listen to the headlines, and have a hell of a memory, in my personal opinion. Not that you need one to be a newsie, you can just make something up.
Looks? Well, let's just say I don't get many. I have brown - well, almost brown anyway - hair and grey-blue eyes, according to those around me. I don't get much time to look in the mirror. Sometimes I wish I did. I wish that I had an education, that I had a family, even that I had a dress. But first I gotta live. And I ain't living off much, that I can tell you!
