Isn't your problem more you just don't have the same values as a large amount of the population there? Not really a separation of church and state?
I kind of like how Minnesota is. We can swing both ways in elections.

I honestly don't know what happened here in Oregon... because nobody told me anything and everyone at my school doesn't seem to care.

Most of my professors are so liberal I don't think they even realize when they are teaching something that they are totally slanting it their way. One of my profs in particular just can't seem to HELP but slide little Bush jokes into his lecture, making most of the class giggle while he stands up there and smirks condescendingly. Just drives me fricken nuts! Teachers are in a position of power and influence, and it isn't right for them to take advantage of it. Ooooh man do i agree with you on this! I've had 2 terrible teachers. One in high school right when the war broke out - OK she was insane (literally the students and faculty thought she went nuts) and wanted us all to go to the protest/riots in San Francisco for credit (ok this was a British Lit class...so where do they connect?) Also she slammed the military and troops which I have issues with. My father works in the defense industry and at the time I had 2 family members in Iraq. I have no patients for people who slam the troops. A few of us got in verbal arguments in class b/c We'd tell her we didn't appreciate getting an anti-war rally in English. So she started to fail me because of it so I retaliated, drooped her class and got an A with another teacher ;D She ran away to live in some like forest utopia or something... My Anthro Prof made us watch "Fahrenheit 9/11" before the last election to sway us. The class was on aborigonies...it was really inappropriate especially at college level.

But I just mean that they simply "run" the state because there are so many of them that their values and beliefs always get elected since they make up most of the votes, right?

Part of it.. but actually the LDS church as a whole owns half of the capitol.. yeah.. it's wierd and really messy.. I don't know how they get away with it legally... I had to quit debate because some kid kept bringing up religion in a political debate and I almost decked him during congrass.. ohh that was bad.. I was sick and my friends gave me some cookies and an orange soda trying to calm me down... I still hit him if I remmeber right.. oh well.. Steve! If you are out there in internet land.. I still think you're a moron..
