Perry went running up the beach, followed by his sister. He didn't notice the people in front of him until it was too late and he ran smack into the back of the girl. He stumbled and fell back on his butt laughing, "I'm sorry!" He stood up and looked back over his shoulder for his sister, who had disappeared from view. He walked back a few steps and she jumped out from behind a tree and wrapped her arms around his waist swinging him around. He looked back at the people currently occupying the beach. "Sorry again 'bout that."

When the kid bumped into him and Patches, he turned around. "It's aight kid, we were just talkin'." He smiled at the child and his sister. "I'm Firecracker, what's yoah name?"

When Perry bumped into Patches, she Patches behind her to see a little kid about a couple years younger then her. "It ok" Patches looked down at the little. Patches smiled at Firecracker and the little kid.

Perry smiled at them both and glanced up at Lexi before saying anything, she just nodded encouragingly. "I'm Perry, great to meet you." His head nodded overexuberantly and he grinned widely. "This is my sister Lexi." Lexi just smiled at them and gave a little wave before messing her brothers hair.

Lexi thought it was so wonderful that her brother was meeting people who seemed like actual nice people. First the girl, Gwennie, who'd been talking about non-stop since meeting her and her dog that he couldn't see but swore was there. A small smile crossed her face at what a conversation that had been before she focused back on the kids. They seemed good enough to her, they didn't snap into her brother when he ran smack into them and that won them points in her mind.

"I'm Perry, great to meet you. This is my sister Lexi."
Fire stood up. "Nice ta meetcha, Perry, Lexi." He said with a smile. Then as a gentleman, he grabbed Lexi's hand and kissed the top of it.
"Dis is Patches. She's from Queens, and I'm from Brooklyn." He looked at Lexi, "Wheah are you guys from?"

Lexi laughed when Firecracker kissed her hand, thinking he was a cute kid. "What a gentleman, huh?" When she looked down she saw the disgusted look on Perry's face and laughed even more before messing his hair a bit. "We just moved into the Bronx lodging house not too long ago."

Perry nodded and stepped in front of his sister as if to protect her from any more romantic gestures. "Yeah..." At that moment it clicked that Firecracker had said he was from Brooklyn. "Does Spot beat you with his cane?" He had heard so many stories of the leader they all had faded into one, the cane.

He smiled. "That's nice. I know a girl named Dots who is there, I think she has a boyfriend named Dewey." He smirked.
"Yeah...Does Spot beat you with his cane?"
Firecracker laughed when Perry stepped in front of his sister, as of to protect her from him. But what he doesn't know, is that he already has a girlfriend. "Spot? Haha. Nah, he doesn't beat the good kids wit' da cane. But if ya get on his nerves, he might."

Perry had an incredibly intrigued look on his face, "I wish I could meet him, he sounds scary." Perry often thought Spot Conlon would resemble a scary old pirate. After a moment he realized that Firecracker had said Dewey's name. "I know Dewey! He's nice, he told me all about living in the Bronx and about Spot Conlon. Then that's when I met Dodger. I like Dodger. He showed me a hat trick. Wanna see? Do ya? It's so neat, I'll have to show you. So do you wanna see?"

Lexi covered a mouth with her hand in a lady like manner to hide her evergrowing smile at her brothers rant. God how she loved him, he could make her world so much brighter just by being the curious and talkative youngster that he was. She was a little put off by the talk about Spot Conlon beating children but figured it was more of their imagination than fact. If it was indeed fact than she know she would never let her brother step foot in that city because if someone so much as laid a harmful finger on his head she'd kill them. When it came to her family she didn't mess around and she didn't care.

Perry's grin grew about three inches and pulled a hat out of his pocket and showed him the trick Dodger had taught him. "It's great, right? Dodger knows lots of them and they're all so neat! He could show you, you just gotta ask he loves showing people." Perry stuck the hat back in his pocket, he didn't wear them much but since he had learned the trick he began to carry one so he could show others. He was so proud of what he had learned and he thought Dodger was the best thing since hot chocolate.

Firecracker smiled very brightly. "Ya, I'll remembah ta ask him dat, Perry," He ruffled the kids hair. "That was a great trick, I know ya'll be a good guy just like Dodger."
